Abstract

Komunikasi internasional adalah spesialisasi ilmu komunikasi yang dapat dikelompokkan ke dalam dua kategori. Pertama, fenomena yang menjadi pembahasan dominan sarjana komunikasi, yaitu media internasional. Kedua, fenomena yang meliputi komunikasi politik internasional, hubungan internasional, dan hubungan antarbudaya. Dua kategori studi ini dipadukan sebagai fokus kajian komunikasi internasional sebagai implikasi dari revolusi teknologi informasi-komunikasi global, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa kajian komunikasi internasional (international communication) memiliki dimensi-dimensi komunikasi politik internasional (international political communication), hubungan internasional (international relations) dan hubungan antarbudaya (intercultural relations). Sesuai dengan tahap perkembangannya, ada dua perspektif pokok dalam studi komunikasi internasional, yakni (1) perspektif sistem dan filsafat, dan (2) perspektif transmisional atau arus informasi global yang memunculkan perdebatan antara pandangan dominasi media Barat dalam informasikomunikasi global versus kontribusi media Barat dalam keseimbangan informasi-komunikasi global.

Abstract

Desa Merak Belantung merupakan desa yang terletak di wilayah pesisir Kabupaten Lampung Selatan yang memiliki potensi dan daya tarik yang cukup tinggi untuk dijadikan sebagai objek wisata unggulan. Desa Merak Belantung memiliki pantai-pantai yang begitu indah, mulai dari Pantai Merak Belantung (EMBE), Pantai Sapenan, Pantai Tanjung Beo, Pantai Bagus, Pantai Indah Krakatoa,Pantai Grand Elty, Pantai Senja dan Pantai Tapak Kera. Namun, dibanding pantai lainnya, Pantai Tapak Kera belum terpomosikan dengan optimal padahal pantai ini memiliki potensi alam yang indah dan unik. Potensi tersebut belum sepenuhnya dikelola dengan baik. dikarenakan masih kurang dikenal oleh masyarakat luas sebagaimana wisata lain di daerah yang sama. Beranjak dari hal tersebut, penting kiranya untuk memberikan dukungan kepada masyarakat Desa Merak Belatung agar bersama-sama membangkitkan potensi yang dimilikinya melalui kegiatan optimalisasi media sosial untuk destination branding Pantai Tapak Kera. Melalui kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat membantu memecahkan persoalan-persoalan yang dihadapi oleh Desa Merak Belantung dalam mempromosikan pantai Tapak Kera.

Abstract

This research is important to do, because Indonesia is a very abundant and potential source of medicinal plants (herbs). Herbal-based medicine that is communicated and socialized, will be able to empower people in overcoming their health problems, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is in line with the spirit of the community to return to nature, where people realize that the use of chemical drugs in large quantities and in the long term is actually harmful to health. This research is a qualitative research. Data collection methods were carried out by interview, observation and literature study. Interviews were conducted with 10 families, especially mothers who actively use herbs in Bandar Lampung city. The results of this study prove that herbal-based family health communication carried out using networks between friends, between environmental activist communities, herbal activists and herbal consultations using whatshap media and telegram groups, is very effective as a means of promoting family health, so that families are health independent. The role of mothers is very important in opening opportunities for promotion and family awareness, on the importance of herbs, as a solution to family health problems. This is supported by the right moment, when the whole world is hit by problems, crises, and major challenges in the health sector, namely the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Internationalization narrative in Indonesia commonly mentioned in the national forum whether by political elites or ministry of education & culture. Those indicated that the government has already understood about the urgency of Higher Education (HE) in creating high-competitive human resources towards globalization era. Directorate General HE envisions world-class universities not only by rankings but through a quality culture, academic culture, and work culture. However, practically, developing region such as Lampung province has some issues in defining internationalization within their institutions. The purpose of the research is to desribe how higher education elite construct the front and back stage meaning of internationalization. The research, based on Schein's Organizational Culture and Pacanowsky and Trujillo's Communication Performance models, utilized phenomenological methods including in-depth interviews towards key informans, observations, and document analysis. Findings indicate alignment between Universitas Lampung (Unila)'s leadership assumptions and internationalization: globalization as certainy, international recognition orientation, and the significance of leadership in global competition. Key values promoted include dignity in equality, prestige, local wisdom, and global awareness. Internationalization is interpreted as striving for World Class University status. The study confirms through dramaturgy theory that Unila demonstrates leadership commitment and uses prestige rhetoric to unify leaders, though enculturation and global awareness are lacking, resulting in low student engagement in international programs. World Class University is seen as a dynamic expression of institutional image and reputation, facing various challenges.

Abstract

Wilayah Bandar Lampung merupakan daerah dengan potensi bencana alam seperti tsunami, banjir rob, dan gempa bumi. Terakhir wilayah ini diguncang gempa bumi dan tsunami tahun 2018 dengan korban jiwa berjumlah 118 orang dan korban luka-luka 3130 orang. Jumlah yang banyak ini, menggambarkan bahwa persiapan dan kesiapsiagaan masyarakat masih tergolong rendah, terutama faktor kurngnya pengetahuan dan kepedulian terhadap fenomena alam ini. Fokus pemerintah dan masyarakat kota Bandar Lampung selama ini adalah pengelolaan bencana saat tanggap darurat, kegiatan rehabilitasi, serta rekonstruksi pascabencana. Kesiapsiagaan masyarakat belum menjadi prioritas kegiatan. Untuk melihat kesiapsiagaan bencana tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis 5 parameter framework pengembangan kesiapsiagaan masyarakat dari Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI) bekerjasama dengan United Nations for Educations/International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNESCO/ISDR). Kelima parameter tersebut adalah: 1) Pengetahuan (P) yang berkaitan dengan fenomena alam dan kesiapsiagaan, 2) Kebijakan, Peraturan dan Panduan (K), 3) Rencana untuk Keadaan Darurat Bencana (ROB), 4) Sistem Peringatan Bencana (PB), dan 5) Mobilisasi Sumber Daya (MSD). Berdasarkan hasil analisa dan wawancara di lapangan, umumnya masyarakat sudah memiliki pengetahuan dasar bencana gempa bumi dan tsunami, namun fasilitas atau akses menuju tempat mengungsi jika terjadi gempa maupun tsunami masih belum tertata dengan baik. Hal menarik lain yang ditemukan adalah nelayan menjadi salah satu pusat informasi yang dipercaya masyarakat jika terjadinya tsunami.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics of political communication between Megawati Soekarnoputri and Puan Maharani in the leadership of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). Using a descriptive-analytical approach and Symbolic Interactionism theory, this research highlights the importance of symbols in shaping public perception of both leaders. The results of the analysis indicate that their political interactions influence the party's image, especially in the context of specific political events such as elections and policy controversies. The interpretation of political communication symbols also reveals the complexity of public perception towards the PDIP and its leaders. The implications for the PDIP leadership in facing political challenges, including coalition formation, underscore the importance of responsive and effective communication strategies. This study provides valuable insights into the dynamics of Indonesian politics and makes a significant contribution to understanding political communication and party dynamics in the country.

Abstract

Disney, as a production house and global film publisher, now appears to be heavily emphasizing woke culture values, one of which includes advocating for LGBT minorities through messages in its films. LGBT as an agenda in the woke culture movement is presented by the media in their respective styles and for example, the LGBT form of film media appears on the side actors who are gay, lesbian, bisex, transgender to queer who are present in the scope of life of the main actor of the film. This research aims to analyze and explain how Disney represents LGBT behavior in the context of film media The method used by the researcher is a literature study conducted by collecting data in the form of documents consisting of scene images and dialogue in films. During the data analysis process of the research, the author utilized Christian Metz' semiotics method to interpret the cinematic elements of the film and extract the meaning of messages in each scene Furthermore, this study is supported by the theory of multiculturalism in politics. The results obtained by the researcher are that in the film Strange Word (2022), Ethan, who is the main character, is gay and he loves his male friend named Diazo Furthermore, in the film Lightyear (2022), Commander Hawthorne is the main character's friend, Buzz Lightyear, and she is a lesbian.

Abstract

The COVID-19 epidemic significantly impacted the worldwide tourism sector, resulting in a notable decrease in both domestic and foreign tourist arrivals in Bandar Lampung. The Bandar Lampung Tourism Office, as the principal institutional authority managing the city's tourism sector, was necessitated to react swiftly and efficiently to a developing issue. This study examines the crisis communication management tactics employed by the office during the pandemic. This research adopts a post-positivist perspective and utilizes a qualitative, descriptive technique to analyze crisis communication during three essential phases: pre-crisis, crisis, and post-crisis. The results demonstrate that the pre-crisis timeframe was marked by inadequate preparedness and a lack of proactive risk mitigation strategies. The crisis phase demonstrated a more nimble institutional response, characterized by adaptive methods, intersectoral collaborations, and innovation-driven modifications to tourism operations. During the post-crisis period, the Tourism Office implemented communicative techniques aligned with the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT), encompassing image restoration, stakeholder reassurance, and strategic media framing to influence public opinion and restore trust. These observations enhance the broader discussion on crisis communication in the public sector and emphasize the necessity for robust, theory-based frameworks in tourist governance during global shocks.

Abstract

Abstrak - Penelitian ini membahas peran strategis buzzer politik dalam membentuk opini publik melalui media sosial TikTok selama masa kampanye Pemilu 2024, dengan fokus pada pasangan calon Prabowo Subianto dan Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus dan analisis isi, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi strategi komunikasi yang digunakan buzzer, bentuk konten yang diproduksi, serta tanggapan audiens. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa buzzer mampu membentuk citra baru Prabowo yang lebih dekat dengan generasi muda, tercermin melalui narasi populer seperti “Prabowo Gemoy”. Strategi ini berdampak pada peningkatan elektabilitas, terutama di kalangan pemilih milenial. Namun, aktivitas buzzer juga berimplikasi negatif, seperti penyebaran informasi yang tidak akurat, kampanye negatif, dan polarisasi opini publik. Oleh karena itu, pentingnya penguatan literasi digital dan regulasi terhadap aktivitas buzzer menjadi salah satu rekomendasi utama penelitian ini. Temuan ini memperkaya kajian komunikasi politik digital dan memberikan wawasan untuk merumuskan strategi kampanye yang lebih etis dan bertanggung jawab di era media sosial.Abstract - This study explores the strategic role of political buzzers in shaping public opinion through the social media platform TikTok during the 2024 Indonesian presidential election campaign, with a specific focus on the Prabowo Subianto–Gibran Rakabuming Raka presidential-vice presidential ticket. Using a qualitative approach through case studies and content analysis, the research investigates the communication strategies employed by buzzers, the types of content disseminated, and audience responses. The findings reveal that buzzers successfully rebranded Prabowo's image to appear more relatable and appealing to younger voters, as reflected in the viral narrative of "Prabowo Gemoy." This communication strategy significantly contributed to increased electability among millennial voters. However, buzzer activity also raises concerns due to the spread of misinformation, negative campaigning, and the intensification of political polarization. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of strengthening digital literacy and regulating buzzer activity to uphold a healthy democratic process. The research contributes to the broader discourse on digital political communication and offers insights into developing more ethical and responsible campaign strategies in the social media era.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the rhetoric used in President Prabowo Subianto's 2024 inaugural speech.  Using a constructivist paradigm, this study employs a qualitative approach and analyzes the five laws of rhetoric as proposed by Aristotle and the classical rhetoricians (Socrates, Plato, and Demosthenes). President Prabowo Subianto is the focus of this study, and the video of his 2024 inauguration speech serves as the target of the study. A fill-in system is used to analyze the data. The findings of this investigation are (1) The speech's topic was sustainable development and economic prosperity, with an emphasis on renewable energy and sustainable agriculture to preserve natural resources, economic growth and environmental sustainability, building a robust economy with jobs for all, enhancing infrastructure, assisting small and medium-sized businesses, and boosting competitiveness in the global market. (2) Disposition (drafting) in the form of an introduction that includes content, arguments, proof, and greetings. (3) Elocutio (style of language) Proverbs, metaphors, and repetition are the language style employed. (4) Recollections (memory) President Prabowo Subianto described his experiences in a speech without consulting the text. (5) President Prabowo Subianto emphasized, lowered, and elevated vowels during his inauguration. He looked around, raised his hands halfway, and made pointing gestures. In order to persuade the audience, eye contact and mental interaction were employed. In conclusion, President Prabowo Subianto's speech complied with the theoretical requirements of classical rhetoricians and Aristotle's five laws of rhetoric, ensuring that the speech's rhetoric was understandable and focused on its goal.
