Abstract

Water is an important source for life in the world. If we lost it, many problems will arise. The location of this research is in Kerobokan area, Badung Regency, and some areas of Tabanan Regency. This research was done by observing and interviewing about 41 people, consisting of Villa’s, Hotels and Restaurants owner (investor), domestic and international tourists, staff of PDAM and Government, and farmers. This research was conducted from January- February 2011, with some students from IREST Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne and some students from Udayana University. From the data of this study, then Tabanan and Badung were being compared, so it can be seen the similarities and differences in water issues that occur in each region. Then, the development of the infrastructure has reduced the farming field and in Tabanan, in dry season, water can be a serious problem. The actors in that conflict are between farmers, between farmers and Government (PDAM), and between farmers and investors (Villas, Hotels and Restaurants owner). The type of the conflict in Tabanan and Badung is the lack of water and water pollution.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Tumuk Manggis Village, Sambas Regency, from September to October 2024, with the aim of introducing a new superfood-based food product, namely keke noodles, as the village's superior product. This product utilizes taro and moringa leaves, which are known to have high nutritional content. This training involved the local community in the noodle-making process, which includes the stages of preparing ingredients, processing the dough, forming noodles, and boiling. The main ingredients used are steamed and mashed taro, blended moringa leaves, as well as wheat flour, eggs, vegetable oil, and simple spices. The noodle-making process is carried out practically and simply, so that people can easily practice it at home. The final result of this training is taro and moringa leaf noodles that can be modified into various dishes. This training is expected to be able to increase the economic potential of the village by developing local products that are highly nutritious and have sales value. The superfood keke noodle product is expected to be an alternative healthy food that can compete in the market, while improving the welfare of the people of Tumuk Manggis Village. This collaboration also emphasizes the importance of utilizing abundant local food ingredients as an innovation for superior products. This activity ended with gratitude to the Tumuk Manggis Village government for its support and collaboration in implementing this training.

Abstract

Desa Setalik merupakan salah satu desa yang memiliki potensi dalam pengembangan hasil pertaniannya. Hasil pertanian Desa ini yaitu singkong, keladi dan hasil pertanian lainnya yang melimpah. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan ibu-ibu PKK di Desa Setalik, Kecamatan Sejangkung, Kabupaten Sambas, dalam mengolah ubi dan keladi menjadi produk kripik yang bernilai ekonomi. Pendekatan yang dilakukan dalam pengabdian ini terbagi kedalam 5 tahapan yaitu proses perizinan, pemilihan bahan baku, proses pemasakan, perhitungan ekonomi dan evaluasi.  Kegiatan ini melibatkan 15 peserta yang tergabung dalam ibu-ibu PKK dan difasilitasi oleh dosen dari Politeknik Negeri Sambas. Dalam pelatihan ini, peserta diberikan materi serta praktik langsung pembuatan kripik ubi dan keladi, mulai dari persiapan bahan, teknik pengolahan, hingga pengemasan produk. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta mampu memahami dan mengaplikasikan teknik pembuatan kripik dengan baik. Diharapkan kegiatan ini dapat menjadi langkah awal dalam mengembangkan usaha rumahan yang berkelanjutan serta meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat setempat.

Abstract

Temajuk village is one of the leading tourist attractions in West Kalimantan. It bridges Indonesia and Malaysia. With its rich culture and breathtaking scenery, Temajuk village is indispensably for promoting tourism in West Kalimantan. This study examines the participants’ perception of the tour guide training held in Temajuk Village. The training involved English lessons since the international tourists also visited Temajuk village through Telok Melano, Indonesia. Employing qualitative study, using interview and observation, this study establishes the reasons and expectations underpinning the respondents in joining the training. The responses are presented into the perceived benefits from the participants’ point of view, tour guide training and English language learning, and participants’ expectation. It is advised that this kind of training, especially in the border area can be held to since it is fruitful and prominent.

Abstract

Sambas Traditional Weaving Craft is one of Indonesia's cultural riches and heritages that has high artistic and cultural value. Sambas Traditional Weaving Craft is a source of livelihood for the local community, as well as an important representation of cultural identity and historical heritage for the Sambas Malay community. This study aims to identify the characteristics of Sambas Cual Weaving and identify challenges in its preservation efforts. The approach used is qualitative research with data collection methods through observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and secondary data collection (document studies). Informants were selected purposively. The results of the study show the unique characteristics of Sambas Cual Weaving, which include aspects of its distinctiveness and differences, manufacturing techniques, motifs and patterns as well as the texture and color of the fabric. The main challenges faced in efforts to preserve Sambas Cual Weaving include: ageing craftsmen and increasingly rare skills, declining interest from the younger generation, challenges in economic feasibility and sustainability, and previous knowledge and skills that are not perfectly inherited.
