Abstract

KB-RA Tazkiyah Therapy provides opportunities for children with special needs such as the blind, deaf, ADHD or ABK to get equal opportunities in the learning process. Taking into account the needs of children and the condition of the school as well as the facilities needed for normal students and those with special needs, as well as age differences, the service teaches Project based Learning (PjBL) for all students, both normal and those with special needs. This community service activity takes the form of fun cooking, namely decorating cupcakes for Tazkiyah KB-RA Therapy students. The application of this training is to increase feelings of empathy, cooperation among students who have different ages, the conditions of normal students and students with special needs who are in the same class as other students. The method applied in this activity is the training of decorating cupcakes. Some of the benefits that can be obtained from KB-RA and TAZKIYAH THERAPY through community service activities are: (1) Gaining creative knowledge and skills in decorating cup cakes (fun cooking) (2) Gaining knowledge in applying Project based Learning (PjBL).

Abstract

Guru PAUD dilingkungan HIMPAUDI kecamataan Kepanjen masih melakukan storytelling secara konvensional dengan metode mendongeng tanpa media visual yang menarik. Kondisi ini menyebabkan anak-anak kurang terlibat secara aktif.  Adapun permasalahan yanng dihadapi guru sebagai berikut:  keterbatasan pengetahuan dan teknik storytelling yang efektif serta belum familiar dengan media visual yang variatif, kurangnya variasi metode pembelajaran dan keterbatasan alat bantu visual, dan kurangnya kemampuan pemanfaatan teknologi digital untuk pembelajaran. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan solusi dengan mengadakan pelatihan storytelling dengan teknik aplikasi magiclight.ai yang dirancang dengan pendekatan praktis menggabungkan pemahaman teoritis, penggunaan teknologi, dan praktik langsung. Metode yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pertama menyampaikan materi tentang perkembangan berbahasa anak dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan storytelling dan penggunaan teknologi untuk menunjang perkembangan bahasa anak. Selain itu juga dilakukan sesi diskusi tanya jawab dan diskusi serta praktik langsung. Hasil dari kegiatan ini didapatkan bahwa guru PAUD memahani konsep yang diberikan, mampu membuat media sederhana dengan bantuan AI, peserta aktif, dan antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan ini.  Evaluasi yang di dapatkan, 90% peserta mengatakan bahwa pelatihan ini sangat bermanfaat bagi guru PAUD untuk dapat meningkatkan kemampuan bercerita dan mengaplikasikan teknologi untuk menunjang perkembangan bahasa anak. Sedangkan untuk kedepan dapat dilakukan workshop pembuatan cerita anak dengan AI.

Abstract

This study examines the application of Roland Barthes's semiotic theory in analyzing the Korean drama "Lovely Runner," focusing on the emotional dynamics and character development of Ryu Sunjae and Im Sol. The research aims to uncover how various visual signs, including the total solar eclipse scene, yeonji gonji (rouge on the cheeks) scene, the umbrellas, Sunjae’s wristwatch, the sunflowers, and samgyetang, convey the characters' feelings and emotional journeys. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method, the analysis highlights the denotative and connotative meanings of these symbols, revealing their significance in the narrative. The findings indicate that one visual sign can articulate the emotions of both characters simultaneously, while also expressing the emotional states of a character across different scenes and settings. This study contributes to the literature on semiotics, particularly within the context of Korean dramas, and emphasizes the importance of visual symbols in conveying emotional depth and character development. Ultimately, the research underscores the potential of visual storytelling as a powerful medium for exploring the character's feelings and emotions.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan menulis dan kreativitas siswa sekolah dasar dalam menciptakan karya sastra, khususnya dongeng. Selama ini siswa di SDN 2 Gondowangi lebih sering menjadi pendengar atau pembaca cerita tanpa diberi kesempatan untuk menghasilkan karya sendiri. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pelatihan pembuatan dongeng fabel berbasis Artificial Intelligent (AI) sebagai upaya menumbuhkan kreativitas, meningkatkan keterampilan berbahasa, dan membekali siswa dengan literasi digital. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pelatihan partisipatif yang diawali dengan identifikasi kebutuhan siswa, penyusunan rencana kegiatan, pelaksanaan pelatihan, hingga pendampingan dan evaluasi. Pelatihan menggunakan platform berbasis AI yang mampu mengubah teks menjadi visualisasi cerita digital sehingga memberikan pengalaman belajar yang lebih interaktif dan menarik. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa siswa lebih termotivasi dalam menulis, mampu mengembangkan alur cerita, tokoh, dan pesan moral, serta menunjukkan peningkatan rasa percaya diri dalam mengekspresikan ide. Simpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah bahwa integrasi antara dongeng fabel sebagai media tradisional dengan teknologi AI mampu menciptakan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan, interaktif, dan bermakna, sekaligus menyiapkan siswa menjadi generasi kreatif, kritis, dan melek digital.

Abstract

This research revealed two main issues regarding speaking assessment, that is students’ low speaking confidence and low vocabulary mastery. These two issues hampered students in delivering their ideas fluently and do not speak well in the speaking assessment. To solve the problems, the researcher employed some strategies. This study aimed at describing the problems of the learners and the approaches used by the teacher in carrying out speaking tests in a matriculation class of MAN 1 Blitar. Qualitative descriptive approach with 34 students as subject, the data was collected by conducting class observation, conducting interview with English teacher and some students, and analysing students’ speaking performance tasks. The result showed that some students were reluctant to speak because of fear of making mistakes, lack of self-confidence, and lack of vocabulary. The teacher used three strategies which are providing vocabulary support, conducting group discussion, and providing formative feedback to help students in doing speaking assessments. This research reveals the students’ problems in speaking assessment and the teacher’s strategy in conducting speaking assessments in matriculation class. The teacher’s scaffolding strategy helps students in delivering ideas fluently and speaking well. The result demonstrates the importance of considering both effective and linguistic factors in conducting speaking assessment. The result might be used as the reference for English teacher to conduct better speaking assessment.

Abstract

Stoic masculinity emphasizes endurance, emotional control, and rational action and is often represented visually in action movies. This study examines the representation of stoic masculinity in the movie Sisu (2022) through visual and symbolic elements rather than verbal expression. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the data are collected through movie observation and analysis of selected scenes. The analysis applies Roland Barthes’s semiotic theory, focusing on denotative, connotative, and mythic meanings, supported by Stoic philosophy as articulated by Marcus Aurelius. The findings show that stoic masculinity in Sisu is constructed through endurance of physical suffering, emotional control under threat and loss, and rational action in extreme situations. Among the visual symbols identified in the movie, bodily scars and prolonged silence appear as the most dominant signs representing stoic masculinity. Scars function as visual evidence of endurance and survival from past suffering, while silence and minimal speech represent emotional restraint and internal discipline. Other symbolic elements, such as calmness during confrontation, rational responses to injury, and calculated decision making, further reinforce the representation of stoic masculinity.The movie presents stoic masculinity as a visual identity shaped through action, self control, and cinematic techniques, contributing to the understanding of stoic masculinity representation in movie.
