Abstract

Designing a Performance Management System (PMS) is anintegral part of management control systems. This paper presents ahybrid framework for the design of a PMS for the Indonesiancontext, and the tailor-made design is expected to overcome theshortcomings of earlier models. The present hybrid PMS modelseeks to improve the earlier research models using the followingnovel approaches: (1) implementation of a Knowledge-Based (KB)expert system, (2) Gauging Absences of Prerequisite (GAP) analysis, and (3) Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology in anintegrated KBPMS. The paper shows that the present hybrid (KB-AHP-GAP) approach to developing a PMS model is a realisticmethodology. The combination of the KB-AHP-GAP approachallows detailed benchmarking of the PMS existing in an Indonesiancompany. Furthermore, this approach can assist in identifying andprioritising the key decisions that need to be executed to overcomethe existing PMS shortcomings.symbiotic strategic alliances. Con-versely, affiliate firms prefer competitive strategic alliances withcompetitors when they are not dependent on the parent firm.

Abstract

This paper aims to develop a conceptual performance management framework and a theoretical model to determine a suitable performance management framework. The study uses a systematic approach to determine an appropriate performance management framework, which encompasses the process of identifying issues related to performance management, conducting a thorough literature review, identifying gaps through comparing and contrasting the performance management frameworks, identifying theorised constructs, developing a conceptual framework, and building a theoretical model. The results of this study suggest that the proposed conceptual performance management framework applies an input-process-output-outcome model to indicate performance measurement as part of performance management and to describe a complete process of transforming performance measures data into reliable performance information. Five suggested factors to determine a suitable performance management framework have been identified in a developed theoretical model, which include a useful method for modelling a system, management control tool, framework applicability, performance measurement, and practical guidelines for performance management system. This study identifies and suggests five criteria for determining a suitable performance management framework. Other aspects can be included to develop more robust criteria. Theoretical verification needs to be undertaken to examine the conceptual variables of the proposed framework. The developed theoretical model is subject to empirical testing. This study encourages performance management research concerning a thorough process of developing performance management framework and establishing criteria and a model to determine a suitable performance management framework.

Abstract

Event marketing has been one of the popular corporate marketing strategies for decades. The method is experiential and aims to transform not only attendees' perceptions but also their behavior. Despite this, several events have failed to build loyalty or the purchase intention beyond the entertainment value. In addition, event marketing now focuses on gaining purchase and visit intentions. When a company focuses on engagement, it causes an increased usage desire and longer customer lifetime value. However, as a consequence of such communications, research into the engagement effect of an event has been lacking. This study clarifies the literature review to better understand it. This study reviews 40 relevant scholarly publications from the Scopus database to build a novel concept of engagement-driven event marketing. This article narrows the search using event marketing characteristics. Previous research has found six event types: sports, festivals, concerts, special events, trade shows, and meetings. Five factors influence the attendees: purchase intention, visit intentions, word-of-mouth, brand loyalty, and brand equity . This paper presents a new event marketing model based on Nufer (2015) and Żyminkowska (2019). Attendee engagement is defined by the relationship among the event’s content, the event’s involvement, the event-brand image congruency, and the attendee’s experience of the event’s content. There are also suggested theoretical and managerial considerations.

Abstract

Abstract. Milk quality is represented by Total Plate Count (TPC) value, the indicator of microbial contamination number in milk after production. The standard value is determined and set by the Codex and SNI 3141:1:2011 standards. The higher the TPC value, the lower the quality of the raw milk. This value determines the category of milk quality which impacts the payment scheme and the quantity of milk supplied to the Milk Processing Industry. As a consequence, farmers who collected lower quality milk received unfavorable financial outcomes. The aim of the research was to eliminate defects in milk quality by focusing on the quality control in the production system using Six Sigma approach. The Defects per Million Opportunity (DPMO) calculation was used to measure the quality of product in every one million opportunities. In this study, the DPMO showed 155,854 defects in every one million milk bulk collection held in 5 TPK. Two factors which decreased milk quality were the contamination in the milking process and in the milk collection process. To overcome the issue, technology and behavioral-based quality management systems are integrated to control the milk production and collection effectively and efficiently. Digital milk collection point is proposed to avoid contamination during milk collection through digitalization of data recording, milk test performed to individual samples, and access to test results. The digitalization can decrease the required time of milk collection and testing process. To raise the awareness of farmers towards quality and good farming practice, barn inspection is implemented using farming procedure infographics, Good Farming Practice training, and farmer certification.Keyword. quality management system; dairy industry; digital milk collection; technology; behavior

Abstract

Higher education institutions play a vital role in providing quality education and producing skilled human resources. In Indonesia, there is a growing demand for higher education due to population growth and increasing awareness of its importance. ABC University, currently ranked 46-50 in Indonesia Uni Rank 2023, faces challenges in the rankings. To thrive in this competitive landscape, universities must be selective in admitting qualified students and ensure effective academic development processes. Machine learning capabilities can be leveraged to predict students' potential academic performance, facilitating timely interventions and support to enhance learning outcomes. However, there is currently no research available that focuses on creating a prediction model that integrates student profiles with academic performance. Highlights factors that contribute to student failure, including low academic ability, financial constraints, and geographical location. ABC University, with its limited database, requires a method to improve performance and predict students' academic performance. Machine learning techniques such as Educational Data Mining (EDM) and Random Forest can assist the university in understanding students' needs and developing effective educational policies. By leveraging these techniques, ABC University can remain competitive and enhance its students' academic performance. This research aims to establish a connection between the Random Forest algorithm theory and the prediction of students' potential academic performance. The objective is to develop an accurate and efficient method for managing student affairs at ABC University. The research employs both quantitative and qualitative approaches, with a focus on analyzing numerical data and generating classification predictions. The research process begins with a thorough analysis of the business situation to understand the university's environment and determine the research topic. The researcher then establishes research boundaries, prioritizes key issues, and constructs a research framework. A comprehensive literature review and Focus Group Discussions are conducted to identify research gaps and determine the factors that influence student performance. Data collection and processing take place, with the data processing phase encompassing tasks such as data cleaning, outlier removal, handling missing values, and variable transformation. The data modeling stage employs the Random Forest algorithm and the k-Folds cross-validation technique, dividing the data into training and testing sets. The evaluation stage involves assessing the model's performance using the testing data and performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, and recall. This study aims to investigate the completion rates of students at ABC University categorized as Fast (3 years), On Time (3.5-4 years), and Late (4.5-6 years) studies. The dataset includes both completed and uncompleted students, and a specific treatment is provided for those who have not completed their studies. Factors that influence student performance are identified through focus group discussions and correlation testing, enabling the identification of significant independent variables. The study analyzes the profiles of students who graduated in 2016-2017, combined with academic performance data. A regression test is conducted to determine the influence of 18 attributes on performance. Random Forest Machine Learning is compared to other techniques to identify the most accurate predictive model for students' academic performance. Abstract

In general, food security is the most important thing in a country, one of which is Indonesia. Indonesia itself has land or land that can be used to produce food including rice, corn, fruits and grains. Thus, enabling Indonesia to be immune to food availability. However, on the other hand, farmers who are the driving force in food production have a low level of welfare. There are several possibilities why the welfare of farmers is still low, the capital spent is greater than their income. For personal consumption, farmers decide not to sell some of their crops. so that the profit is not maximized. There are also farmers who experience crop failure due to pest attacks. Excessive use of seeds or fertilizers can affect crop yields. Thus, a performance management system is needed for rice farming to be able to control, monitor, and evaluate. This is intended so that farming becomes effective and efficient. This study aims to build a framework for the performance management of rice farming using a knowledge-based Performance management system approach. A qualitative approach was used in this study and data were collected from 50 journal articles taken at Google Scholar. The results of this study found 21 performance variables, namely 3 of them on the aspect of resource capability, 12 of them on the aspect of internal processes and 6 of them on aspects of organizational output and the framework of interrelationships between performance variables.

Abstract

In the current dynamic environment, measuring a company’s performance becomes exceedingly complex since Performance Measurements Systems (PMS) not only measure a company’s performance but also reflect their organizational culture and philosophy. Designing and implementing PMS is an integral part of management control systems. However, traditional PMS are criticized for being obsolete, irrelevant to managerial decision making, unrelated to strategic objectives and detrimental to organizational improvements. Given the shortcomings of traditional PMS, there is need for a new framework that can lead to the design of a PMS that balances short-term and long-term measures, internal and external measures, and financial and operational measures. This paper presents issuesassociated with the needs of a dynamic PMS, observe past research achievements in PMS and review past PMS frameworks that have been introduced. The paper then proposes an improved methodology for the design of a realistic PMS and its effective implementation in a manufacturing environment with case for Indonesia’s company.
