Abstract

Kegiatan upacara di tempat suci pura di Pulau Bali rata-rata menghasilkan sampah sekitar 2000 L/hari. Sebagai bagian yang sangat penting dari budaya Bali, sesajen yang terdiri dari bunga, daun, buah-buahan dan bambu disajikan di setiap upacara keagamaan. Pembuangan sampah pura yang tidak tepat berpotensi menimbulkan gangguan pada kehidupan manusia dan lingkungan, seperti air dan sanitasi, penumpukan sampah, peningkatan tingkat pencemaran, dan kesehatan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendaur ulang sampah pura, khususnya sisa bunga menjadi dupa organik serta mengkaji alternatif lain dalam daur ulang sampah pura. Daur ulang sisa bunga menjadi dupa organik dilakukan dengan menggunakan tiga bahan campuran. Kajian literatur digunakan untuk menambah informasi alternatif daur ulang sampah pura dari penelitian sebelumnya. Hasil eksperimen menunjukan bahwa sampah sisa bunga dapat didaur ulang menjadi dupa organik. Rasio campuran 1:2 untuk sisa bunga dan bubuk esensial memberikan hasil terbaik. Dupa organik yang terbentuk sangat kuat dan padat. Selain itu, aroma campuran yang dihasilkan lebih baik di antara yang lain. Sampah pura juga dapat didaur ulang menjadi beberapa produk berharga, seperti kompos, ekstrak warna minyak atsiri, bubuk warna, atau biogas. Diestimasikan sebuah pura menghasilkan sekitar 200 kilogram sampah pura dalam satu hari upacara. Sekitar 40% dari sampah pura merupakan sisa bunga (berat basah) dengan kadar air sekitar 80%. Setelah melalui proses pengeringan, sisa bunga mencapai 16 kilogram. Diperkirakan sekitar 45 ton sampah pura dari 230 pura publik di Pulau Bali dapat didaur ulang setiap tahun melalui upaya daur ulang. Beberapa dampak yang ditimbulkan dari upaya daur ulang ini, seperti mengurangi sampah pura, menciptakan produk daur ulang yang dapat dipasarkan, dan meningkatkan keharmonisan antara budaya, lingkungan, dan masyarakat melalui pemberdayaan masyarakat. ABSTRACTCeremonial’s activities in Bali’s Temple have produced about 2000 L/day of waste in average. As an integral part of Balinese culture, devotion offerings which consists of flowers, leaves, fruits and bamboo are presented at every ceremony. The improper disposal of temple waste potentially causes a stress on the basic services in human life, such as water and sanitation, waste accumulation, raising the level of pollution, and human health. The present study aims to leverage of temple waste, especially discarded flower into organic incense through recycling and find out the foreseen impact of this initiative to the environment. Processing discarded flower into organic incense was conducted in this research with three material mixtures ratio. A literature review was added to enhance the alternatives of discarded flowers recycling on previous research. It is found that discarded flower was successfully recycled into organic incense. The preliminary experiments showed that the ratio of 1:2 for discarded flowers and essential powder gave the best results. The incenses were very strong formed and solid. Additionally, the smell of best mixture was the best among others. Besides, temple waste can be recycled to some valuable products, such as vermicompost, dyes extraction, essential oil, color powder, or biogas. It assumed that a temple has produced around 200 kilograms of temple waste during a ceremonial day. About 40% of those was discarded flowers (wet weight) that 80% contains water. After the drying process, it has left 16 kilograms of dried discarded flowers. It estimated around 45 tons of discarded flowers from 230 public temples around Bali could be recycled every year through this recycling effort. Some impacts come up with following this initiative, such as reducing the temple waste, creating a marketable recycling product, and build up a harmony between the cultural, environment, and society through community empowerment.

Abstract

The aims of this present study were to find the correlation between vocabulary mastery andspeaking skill of the seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Kerambitan in academic year2020/2021. The samples were selected by applying cluster sampling methods by lottery systemso that there were two classes with total students is 66. In order to obtain the data, researchersused two tests; cloze task for measuring vocabulary mastery and picture description formeasuring speaking skill. Furthermore, data collected were analysed by mean of Normalitytest, Homogeneity test, Pearson product moment and T-testing. The data were analysed byusing SPSS version 23. The data analysis showed that there was a significant correlationbetween vocabulary mastery and speaking skill of the seventh grade students of SMPN 1Kerambitan in academic year 2020/2021.

Abstract

The present study which made use of an ex-post facto research with correlation design was intended to figure out the significant between Vocabulary Mastery and Writing Ability of The Eighth-grade Students of SMP N 2 Ubud in Academic Year 2020/2021. The samples of the research consisted of 38 students which were chosen by means of cluster sampling method with lottery system. The data were collected through administering the research instruments which were in the form of structured cloze task and picture description. The obtained data were statistically analyzed by using Pearson product moment correlation and t-test. The results of the data analysis clearly revealed the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In other words, the research findings confirmed that there is significant correlation between Vocabulary Mastery and Writing Ability of the Eighth-grade Students of SMP N 2 Ubud in Academic Year 2020/2021.

Abstract

This study was designed in the form of ex-post facto research. It was aimed at finding out the correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 2 Kuta Utara in academic year 2020/2021”. There were 68 seventh-grade students of SMPN 2 Kuta Utara in academic year 2020/2021 which was regarded as the samples under study. They were taken by using cluster random sampling technique with lottery system. Besides, the present study was conducted with two instruments those were short answer tasks that was used to assess reading comprehension and cloze tasks for vocabulary mastery test. Moreover, to find out the correlation between two variables, the obtained data were analysed by using Product Moment’s formula and analysed by using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 19. The results of the data analysis showed that there was a significant, and positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the seventh-grade students of SMP N 2 Kuta Utara in academic year 2020/2021.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to define the relationship between students' reading habits and their narrative writing abilities. The population of this study were students of class X SMA 1 Rendang. A product moment correlation method is applied in this study. There are two instruments for collecting data; namely the instrument to measure students' reading habits, in this case was a questionnaire, and the instrument to measure students' ability to write narrative, which is a text construction test. The result shows that there is a significant relationship between students' reading habits and the ability to write narrative text in class X SMA 1 Rendang. Therefore, it can be concluded that the more students read, the better their narrative writing skills.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the correlation between vocabulary mastery and student speaking ability of SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar in academic year 2020/2021. The present study used an ex post facto research with correlational design. The samples of the research were 31 students of tenth grade selected by using random sampling with lottery system. There were two research instruments which were used to collect the data. It was close task as vocabulary instrument and a short describing monologue as the speaking test. Based on the results of Pearson Product Moment Correlation and T-test, the researcher confirmed that the directional hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, there is a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and speaking ability of the tenth grade student of SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar in academic year 2020/2021.

Abstract

The present study was devoted to the implementation of a community service to Elementary school teachers aiming at improving the teachers’ competence in designing and implementing authentic assessment. Participants of this activity were the elementary school teachers in Klungkung district in which the total number was 35 teachers. Before the training started, the teachers were given preliminary test to determine the extent of the ability or competences of teachers on authentic assessment. After figuring out the initial abilities and identifying the needs of the teachers on authentic assessment, then the training was conducted. The results of the final test showed that the ability of teachers in designing and implementing authentic assessment increased significantly. In addition, interviews and questionnaires showed that the motivation of teachers on designing and conducting authentic assessment also increased positively.

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the correlation between high school students’ grammar and writing ability. The study made used of a correlational research design. The study utilized two types of tests, those are grammar test and writing test. This study found that there is a positive correlation between grammar and the writing ability of high school students. Moreover, the study suggests that teachers should intensifies the teaching of grammar and writing to improve students’ language skills. This study implies that grammar and writing ability should be really taught intensively in the classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know whether or not the writing skill of the eighth-grade students of secondary school can be improved through the implementation of ESA with video animation. The subject was the eighth-grade students of secondary school that consisted of 33 students, 17 females and 16 males. The researchers used some instruments such as a pre-test, post-tests and a questionnaire to collect the data in this present study. This classroom action research that conducted into two cycles, such as cycle I and cycle II. Each cycle consisted of two sessions. Based on the result of pre-test, the students had problems in writing. Based on the data of mean scores from pre-test until posttests, it showed that the mean score of pre-test was 39.15, post-test I was 68.36 and post-test II was 78.03. It meant that there were significant improvements in the subjects. In addition, the data also was supported by administering a questionnaire. The result of the questionnaire showed more than 90% of subjects gave positive responses through the implementation of ESA to improve their writing skill. In conclusion, writing skill of the eighth grade students of secondary school could be improved through ESA with video animation.

Abstract

Most students who are studying English have difficulty identifying general information, specific information, and textual meaning and reference because they lack vocabulary. Therefore, an appropriate and effective teaching strategy should enable the students to improve their reading comprehension. The present study attempts to find out if the reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Ubud in the academic year 2020/2021 could be improved through KWL strategy combined with pictures. This research made use of a classroom action design by running two cycles and each cycle consisted of two sessions. running two cycles and each cycle consisted of two sessions. This research was done in two cycles and each cycle consisted of two sessions. The research administered pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire in order to collect the data before they were analyzed. The findings of the research revealed that there were significant improvements in subjects' achievement from the pre-test and post-test. From the questionnaire that was administered in the last cycle, the students gained positive responses in terms of their changing learning behavior toward the application of KWL strategy. Based on the findings of the study, the student’s reading comprehension can be improved through KWL strategy combined with the picture.
