Abstract

Introduction: Hemodialysis is a medical procedure that often causes significant physical changes, such as weight loss, swelling, and skin changes that can affect the patient's body image. The long-term process of hemodialysis also has the potential to interfere with psychological conditions, especially patient self-acceptance. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between body image and self-acceptance in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methods: This type of research is quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study were all patients undergoing hemodialysis at Sidoarjo Regional Hospital as many as 200 respondents. The sample size was 133 respondents selected using a simple random sampling technique. The independent variable is body image and the dependent variable is self-acceptance. The instrument of this study was a questionnaire. Analysis using the Spearman Rank test. Results: The results of this study indicate that 54.9% experience negative body image and 41.4% experience low self-acceptance. Based on the results of the analysis obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.601 which means it has a strong relationship with, p-value = 0.000. Conclusions: Patients who have a positive body image tend to show a higher level of self-acceptance of their physical condition.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan (empowerment) adalah sebuah konsep yang lahir sebagai bagian dari perkembangan alam pikiran masyarakat dan kebudayaan masyarakat. Tingginya angka kematian ibu di Indonesia disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, mulai dari fase sebelum hamil, yaitu kondisi wanita subur yang mengalami anemia, kurang kalori, obesitas, adanya penyakit penyerta kehamilan seperti preeklamsia, anemia kehamilan, serta dikarenakan penyakit sistem reproduksi yaitu Ca Serviks. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu memberdayakan perempuan di wilayah Wonokromo melalui peningkatan kesehatan reprouksi, kehamilan dan kualitas hidup, dengan meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pentingnya menjaga dan mempertahankan kesehatan reproduksi, tanda bahaya kehamilan, dan peningkatan kualitas hidup bagi perempuan perempuan yang sudah menderita kanker. Metode yang dilaksanakan dalam membantu masyarakat yaitu dengan melakukan penyuluhan kepada masyarakat di Wilayah Kelurahan Wonokromo Suarabaya dengan tetap memperhatikan protokol kesehatan karena saat ini covid meningkat. Kegiatan ini dilakukan selama dua bulan dan diikuti dengan Mitra yaitu kader kesehatann dan seluruh perempuan yang berada di Wilayah Kelurahan Wonokromo khususnya RW 08 yang berjumlah 95 peserta. Hasil Pengabdian kepada Masyakat didapatkan pengetahuan pada kader dan seluruh perempuan di wilayah Winokromo mengalami peningkatan.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pre-eklampsia dan eklampsia merupakan komplikasi serius pada kehamilan yang berkontribusi besar terhadap angka kematian ibu di Indonesia. Salah satu faktor utama yang mempengaruhi kejadian ini adalah rendahnya tingkat pengetahuan mengenai kesehatan reproduksi dan pencegahan pre-eklampsia di kalangan masyarakat, terutama di komunitas seperti pesantren. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi mengenai pencegahan pre-eklampsia dan eklampsia kepada santriwati di Pondok Pesantren Putri KHA. Wahid Hasyim, Bangil, Pasuruan. Metode: Metode yang digunakan adalah Community-based Participatory Research (CBPR) dengan sasaran sebanyak 40 santriwati. Kegiatan dimulai dengan pre-test untuk mengukur pengetahuan awal peserta, dilanjutkan dengan penyuluhan menggunakan metode ceramah yang didukung oleh media proyektor. Setelah itu, dilakukan post-test untuk mengevaluasi peningkatan pengetahuan peserta. Hasil dan Pembahasan: Analisis hasil pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan signifikan; 45% peserta yang memiliki pengetahuan baik meningkat menjadi 67,5% setelah kegiatan penyuluhan. Hasil ini menandakan keberhasilan dalam transfer pengetahuan mengenai pencegahan pre-eklampsia dan eklampsia. Edukasi kesehatan reproduksi, terutama terkait pre-eklampsia, sangat penting bagi para santri yang nantinya akan menghadapi potensi kehamilan. Pesantren sebagai institusi pendidikan juga berperan dalam membekali santrinya dengan pengetahuan kesehatan yang menyeluruh, termasuk aspek reproduksi, guna menciptakan generasi ibu yang lebih sehat. Kesimpulan: Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi dalam menurunkan angka kematian ibu dan bayi akibat komplikasi pre-eklampsia melalui peningkatan kesadaran dan tindakan preventif di kalangan calon ibu.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus remains a prevalent global disease and can lead to both physical and psychological complications. One of the most common psychological impacts is diabetes distress, which refers to emotional stress caused by the continuous demands of managing diabetes. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between diabetes self-management and diabetes distress among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Jemursari Islamic Hospital, Surabaya. Methods: This study used a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 174 patients were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The independent variable was diabetes self-management education, and the dependent variable was diabetes distress. Data collection instruments included the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire (DSMQ) and the Diabetes Distress Scale (DDS). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test, with a significance level of p < 0.05. Result: The results showed a significant relationship between diabetes self-management and diabetes distress (p = 0.001), indicating that higher levels of self-management education are associated with lower levels of diabetes distress. Conclusion: This study concludes that better diabetes self-management is significantly associated with lower levels of diabetes distress among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Improving patients’ ability to manage their condition through consistent and comprehensive self-management education may help reduce psychological distress and enhance overall quality of life.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition with rising global prevalence and is strongly influenced by lifestyle behaviors. Objective: This study examined the association between lifestyle factors and blood glucose levels among patients with diabetes mellitus at the Wonokromo Public Health Center. Methods: The study included 216 patients with diabetes mellitus, of whom 141 were selected using purposive sampling. A correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. Data were collected using a lifestyle questionnaire and the respondents’ most recent blood glucose measurements. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Spearman rank test. Results: Nearly half of the respondents reported a moderate lifestyle pattern, and most had blood glucose levels within the normal range. The analysis yielded a p-value < 0.001 with a correlation coefficient (r = 0.385), indicating a significant association between lifestyle and blood glucose levels. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that lifestyle is significantly related to blood glucose control in patients with diabetes mellitus. These results highlight the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices, including balanced diet, regular physical activity, stress management, and avoidance of smoking, to help maintain optimal blood glucose levels.

Abstract

Patients’ knowledge about cataracts, post-surgery anxiety and the satisfaction of cataract surgery services influence psychologist readiness, obedience, and all surgical experience. Understanding these factors are significant to design education intervention and effective perioperative psychosocial. The study aims: This cross-sectional descriptive preliminary study aimed to describe knowledge level, post-surgery anxiety and patients’ satisfaction of cataracts surgery in Surabaya General Hospital on September 2025, in order to identify problems description which need service improvement. Method:  This was consecutive samples of 56 cataract surgery patients. Data collected by structured knowledge questionnaire (validated; KR-20 = 0.82), Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS; α = 0.88), and Patients’ Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ 2017) adapted from PSQ-18 (α = 0.91). Analysis data found descriptively as frequency, percentage, average, and deviation standard. Result: Most of the participants are female (58.9 %), aged 60-69 years old (48.2 %), and educated from low to medium level. The knowledge level which good is on 50.0 % of the participants (average 11.5 ± 2.0 from 15), medium level is on 17.9 %, and low level is on 32.1 %. Post-surgery anxiety in zero level is 53.6 % (average 45.0 ± 8.0), minor level is on 21.4 %, and major level is on 25.0 %. Major level satisfaction is on 58.9 % (average 39.5 ± 6.0 from 50), medium level is on 16.1 %, and minor level is on 25.0 %. Lower education level and informal job related by lower knowledge and satisfaction. Conclusion: This study shows mostly of the cataract surgery patients have lack of knowledge, major post-surgery anxiety, and low satisfaction. It needs better education intervention and appropriate, intense psychosocial support system as well. This finding gives prime important to serious discrepancy on the preparation and patients treatments nowadays, that needs further study and refinement to optimize patients’ results and all experience of health services
