Abstract

Diabetic foot ulcers are caused by impaired peripheral circulation of the lower extremities due to peripheral arterial disease (PAD) that can be assessed by measuring the ankle brachial index. Leg stretching exercises with a tennis ball have an effect on increasing ABI values and predict the incidence of diabetic foot ulcers. Objective : This stydy aims to improve the effect of leg stretching exercises with a tennis ball on the ABI value as a predictor of the incidence of diabetic foot ulcers. Method: Quasi experimental quantitative research with a pretest-posttest with control group design. The total sample was 46 respondents using a purposive sampling technique to determine the Intervention group and Control group in 2 Puskesmas work areas that have plenary accreditation. After selecting each group, identification was carried out according to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, resulting in 23 respondents in the Intervention group and 23 respondents in the Control group. The intervention group was given leg stretching exercises with a tennis ball for 15 minutes 14 times in 2 weeks and the control group received treatment from the Community Health Center, namely PROLANIS exercises. Data analysis uses univariate analysis and bivariate analysis, Paired Sample t-Test and Independent t-Test. Results: The ankle brachial index average increased to 0,300 mmHg and the prediction of the incidence of foot ulcers were decreased on the Intervention group (p=0,000) wheras the Control group ankle brachial index average decreased to 0,082 mmHg and the prediction of the incidence of foot ulcers were increased (p=0,008). Conclusion: Leg stretching exercises with a tennis ball have an effect on increasing ankle brachial index and can be used as a predictor of diabetic foot ulcers in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Hysical activities carried out, such as Low Impact Aerobics in patients with type II diabetes mellitus, can increase insulin resistance sensitivity to optimize insulin function. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of low aerobics on blood glucose levels and peripheral circulation in type II diabetes mellitus clients. This research design uses true experimental with pre-test and post-test control group design. The total sample of 36 people consisted of 12 intervention group 1, 12 people in intervention group 2, and 12 people in the control group . The activity was carried out at the UPT Puskesmas working area of Semarang City in 2022. The sampling technique uses simple random sampling. Data analysis using Wilcoxon and Wallis crucible was α < 5%. The results showed that the average value of blood sugar levels after being given alow-impact. Aerobic intervention decreased by 57 mg/dl with p-value = 0.004. The mean peripheral circulation value of ABI after low impact aerobic intervention increased by 0.09 mmHg with p-value = 0.002. After the low impact aerobic intervention, the average CRT value of peripheral circulation decreased by 0.67 mmHg with p-value = 0.011. In conclusion, e fek eerobic has a low impact in lowering blood glucose levels and improving peripheral circulation.

Abstract

To evaluate the effectiveness of aerobic training on pain in Rheumatoid arthritis. Methods Asystematic literature search was carried out using the Pubmed, Embase, and Cochrane databases untilNovember 2016 and abstractly presented at a scientific meeting of rheumatology for 3 years. Randomizedcontrolled trials (RCTs) comparing resistance exercise-based therapy with interventions withoutresistance exercise for RA patients' treatment were included. Six literature studies, including 547 patients, met the study inclusion criteria. Patient characteristics and exercise did not affect the outcome. Subgroupanalysis revealed a trend toward higher effectiveness associated with high-intensity programs. There isevidence with a low risk of bias that an aerobic exercise program effectively reduces fatigue amongpatients with RA, especially in the short term. An RCT should be performed in patients with RA who areselected for fatigue to strengthen the evidence.
