Abstract

Background: Lower extremity pain from cycling with wrong technique or without adequate preparation could cause bodily injury and pain. Pain might cause reduced patient’s mobility and quality of life in physical and psychological aspects which results in disruption of sufferers when did their daily activities. Objective: Knowing relationship between uses of mountain bikes and folding bicycles with lower extremity pain. Methods: 65 respondents were involved in research conducted in Semarang online at the respective respondent's and researcher's premises. The study used cross-sectional method to assess relationship between certain types of bicycles uses with lower extremity pain presence and quality. Statistical test used in this study was the Mann-Whitney and Fischer's exact test. Results: There were significant differences in handlebar height, saddle height, and wheel diameter between two groups of respondents (p = 0.032, p = 0.001, p < 0.001). There was insignificant difference between mountain bikes and folding bicycles uses with lower extremity pain presence and quality (p = 0.481, p = 0.599). There was also non-significant correlation and very weak correlation mountain bikes and folding bicycles uses with lower extremity pain presence and quality (p = 0.613, p = 0.603), negative correlation to presence of pain (r = -0.088), and positive correlation to quality of pain (r = 0.066). Location of lower extremity which felt most painful by respondents was knee in both groups. Conclusion: There was insignificant relationship between certain types of bicycles uses with lower extremity pain.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Agility is one of football's most critical anaerobic capacities. One component is the ability to change direction. Players change direction (Change of direction speed / CODS) every 2-4 seconds. Agility is influenced by several things, including speed and limb muscle explosive power, and is related to aerobic capacity, namely VO2 Max (maximum oxygen consumption) in the Running economy aspect. It is necessary to research the relationship between VO2 Max, speed, and explosive power of limb muscles with agility in soccer playersObjective: Knowing correlation between VO2 Max, speed, and limb muscle explosive power with agility in soccer players. Methods: Twenty-seven male players (Diponegoro Muda PS Undip) were involved in this study (mean±SD; age 13.22 ± 0.18 years, weight 46.78 ±1.67 kg, height 158± 1.88 cm). This research is a correlational study using a cross-sectional design. Each player will be measured VO2 Max with the Multistage Fitness Test, speed with the 20-meter sprint test, the explosive power of the limb muscles with the surgent jump test, and agility (CODS) using the Illinois agility test. The hypothesis test used is Spearman's hypothesis test and linear regression test. Results: Spearman correlation test found a strong relationship between VO2 Max and agility (r=-0.743; p= <0.001), there was a moderate relationship between speed and agility (r=0.556; p== 0.003), there was a strong relationship between muscle explosive power limbs with agility (r=-0.766; p= <0.001), and the results of linear regression of variables VO2 Max, speed, limb muscle explosive power on agility showed a strong relationship (r=0.806; r2= 0.650; p=<0.001).Conclusion: Conclusions: VO2 Max correlates with agility; speed correlates with agility; limb muscle explosive power correlates with agility; and the variables of VO2 Max, speed, and limb muscle explosive power have a relationship with agility.

Abstract

Physical exercise can increase the production of free radicals. Free radical can trigger oxidative stress and inflammation. Ginger and lemongrass has bioactive compound that function as antioxidant and antiinflammatory. This study aim to determine the effecs of giving ginger and lemongras drink on IL6 level in football player. Quasi experimental study with pre and post control group design. The subject were 24 football player divided 2 namely control and intervention group. The intervention group given a ginger and lemongrass drink. The control group was only given brown sugar drink. The intervention are given after exercise for 28 days. Blood samples were collected and tested after exercise. Interleukine 6 were measured using the ELISA Method. Our result showed there was differences in interleukine 6 after giving ginger and lemongrass drink (p=0.004). The delta of interleukine 6 level after intervention was 3.24 pg/ml. Conclusion this research are there was a decrease in interleukine 6 level after giving ginger and lemongrass drink for 28 days to football players after exercise.
