This study aims to explore the use of the Duolingo Application for English vocabulary building for Pre-service English teachers at a private University in Jakarta. It uses a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to these prospective teachers. The questionnaire is to obtain comprehensive information from the respondents. There are five main aspects. The first is the evaluation of the effectiveness of using the Duolingo App in their vocabulary building. Second, it is an assessment of the ease of using the Duolingo Application as a learning tool. Third, the features in the application are evaluated, which one is the most useful for Vocabulary Building. Fourth is responses about barriers or obstacles that may be encountered in using the application to enrich English vocabulary. Finally, it is about the proposed solutions to overcome the obstacles. Data collection is at the university environment, particularly among Pre-service teachers who have experience in using Duolingo. The data analysis will involve quantitative descriptive methods to present the findings descriptively and provide an in-depth picture of the extent of utilization of the Duolingo App for Vocabulary building. The result is to provide an overview of the extent of utilization of the Duolingo App specifically for vocabulary building. Keywords: Duolingo, Vocabulary building, Pre-service English teachers

Mengkaji potensi Chatbot AI bertema tata surya sebagai alat pendidikan yang inovatif bagi guru dan siswa adalah bagian dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini. Chatbot ini menyediakan platform interaktif dan menarik untuk guru menyampaikan materi pelajaran dan bagi siswa untuk mengakses informasi serta mengajukan pertanyaan tentang tata surya. Kami membahas manfaat bagi para pendidik dan peserta didik, termasuk meningkatnya motivasi siswa, penyampaian pengetahuan yang lebih mudah, umpan balik yang dipersonalisasi, dan dukungan untuk belajar mandiri. Selain itu, artikel ini menyajikan contoh-contoh bagaimana chatbot dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam berbagai kegiatan di kelas, berfungsi sebagai pengayaan materi pembelajaran IPA dan Bahasa Inggris, alat belajar mandiri, latihan bagi siswa, dan media komunikasi. Pada akhirnya, pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mendampingi Guru mengaplikasikan bagaimana Chatbot AI bertema tata surya dapat berkontribusi pada pengalaman belajar yang lebih efektif dan menarik bagi guru dan siswa. Pengembangan literasi digital dan kreativitas guru di era digital semakin diperlukan. Pengabdian kepada masyarakan (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar digital berkualitas melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan intensif dengan fokus pada pemanfaatan aplikasi book creator dan chatbot. Program ini berupaya mengatasi kendala teknis yang sering dihadapi melalui sinergi Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. HAMKA dengan sejumlah sekolah mitra di wilayah Kota Tangerang khususnya di SDI Darul Mukminin. Kami mengembangkan model pembelajaran inovatif berbasis projek yang mengintegrasikan elemen gamifikasi dan kolaborasi. Model ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa, mengembangkan karakter, serta mempersiapkan mereka untuk menghadapi tantangan abad 21. Harapannya melalui program PkM ini, minimal 80% peserta termotivasi dan mampu menghasilkan buku ajar digital berkualitas dan menerapkannya dalam pembelajaran sehari-hari sehingga berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di Indonesia. The development of literacy and creativity needs teachers and lecturers to continuously improved. There are technical obstacles, namely the ability of teachers is not yet optimal, especially in making digital learning media (e-books) with certain applications, including the book creator. The interest of teachers and lecturers in using digital teaching materials builds the students' character in the schools. This challenge relates to the training and help in writing digital textbooks for teachers and introducing chatbot to increase literacy and develop their creativity in enriching teaching materials. The synergy between educational institutions in various countries also needs to be continued, so mentoring for the development of literacy and creativity of teachers Classroom action research carried out as a follow-up to empowering students so that they can produce models of character development with media that can be applied in blended classes by teachers when teaching online while preparing their students to keep learning. The digital textbooks also equip an introduction to the skills of using Chatbot according to the multimodal e-books produced to increase students' enthusiasm for learning.

This research explores the impact of integrating popular culture elements such as music, film, and social media on language acquisition and overall student learning. Through surveys and questionnaires, the study examines students' perceptions of pop culture's role in their educational journey. A survey was conducted with 36 pre-service teachers at a private university in Jakarta to support this research. A descriptive statistical analysis of the data is conducted to identify trends and patterns in learner experiences.This study argues that popular culture, with its wealth of authentic materials, can serve as a valuable tool for effective teaching and learning for pre-service teachers in the EFL context. While recognizing the potential benefits of increased engagement and cultural understanding, the research also addresses challenges like limited vocabulary exposure and the need for careful material selection. Ultimately, this study aims to promote the effective integration of popular culture into EFL Academic Speaking and Writing classrooms by identifying best practices and addressing the diverse needs of learners. The findings of this study have the potential to further motivate pre-service teachers to engage in English language teaching and learning, as well as enhance their communicative and socio-cultural competence.

This study investigates the influence of Kahoot, a game-based learning platform, in enhancing vocabulary mastery and learning motivation among tenth-grade students in Depok, Indonesia. The research addresses the challenges faced by students in vocabulary acquisition, particularly in Narrative and Recount texts. Through a descriptive qualitative approach and utilizing cluster purposive sampling, this study examines how Kahoot's interactive features facilitate vocabulary learning and boost student engagement. The research design is a survey, which was conducted at a private senior high school in Depok (West Java), involving a total of 72 student as participants. Data collection involved questionnaires with Likert scales, open-ended questions, and vocabulary tests administered among tenth-grade students. Findings revealed that Kahoot successfully transformed traditional vocabulary learning into an engaging educational experience through its gamified approach and user-friendly interface. The platform's immediate feedback mechanisms and competitive elements fostered active participation while facilitating vocabulary retention. However, technical challenges such as internet connectivity issues and competitive pressure occasionally hindered the learning experience. Despite these limitations, the study demonstrates that Kahoot effectively balances educational content with entertainment, leading to improved vocabulary retention and increased student motivation.

Abstract This study investigates the internship experiences of English Education students from UHAMKA in Indonesia and Thailand, focusing on how these experiences shape their teaching skills and cultural understanding. Despite the growing importance of teaching English as an international language, there is limited research comparing the internship experiences of students in different cultural contexts, particularly in Indonesia and Thailand. The purpose of this study is to explore how multicultural internship experiences influence students’ confidence in teaching and their intercultural skills. A mixed methods approach was employed, utilizing Likert-scale questionnaires and open-ended questions to gather data from 34 students who completed internships in both countries. The results indicate that 85.3% of participant reported increased confidence in their teaching abilities. Challenges such as language barriers and differing teaching methodologies were identified, yet students emphasized the importance of cultural adaptation and experiential learning. The findings highlight the significance of practical internship experiences in enhancing teaching readiness and intercultural competence, ultimately preparing future educators to thrive in diverse educational settings.

Abstract This exploration study explores the role of Quizizz in improving learning motivation and reading comprehension among Accounting students at state a vocational high school (SMKN 21 Jakarta) in the 2024 school year. Using a survey-based methodology, this study investigates how this gamified learning platform affects students' engagement and their ability to comprehend English reading content. A structured survey was used to gather information from 36 accounting students about their Quizizz experiences, opinions and difficulties. The results showed mixed results; some students felt that this platform improved their motivation and comprehension, while others expressed doubts about its efficacy. This study emphasizes the ability of digital platforms such as Quizizz to create an interactive and engaging learning environment, while overcoming barriers in students' adaptation to new technologies. The findings provide useful insights for educators and augment the ongoing discussion about incorporating technology into education,offering practical implications for classroom practices as well as recommendations for further research and wider implementation. Tourists one sector which is most hit by restrictions which are enforced by Lots country. Dissemination of Covid-19 pushed the government to take various policies to reduce transmission of the Covid-19 virus and concentration of people in society. One of them is closure policy place tourism throughout Indonesia that has an impact on businessmen of the tourist industry. One of the places tourism that completely renovated is Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta. Knowledge measurement was carried out qualitatively using literature study. After the survey and education about CHSE tourism health promotion for TMII managers, the results showed a change in knowledge in almost all participants understanding the CHSE assessment instrument and using it as a guide for TMII managers to remain consistent in providing maximum service standards in order to comply with health protocol standards in the post-pandemic era, In order to restore public trust by providing a sense of security and comfort, TMII management ensures that tourism sector workers have received complete vaccines and comply with health protocols. To create a clean, healthy, safe and comfortable tourism sector, Cleanliness, Health, Safety & Environment Sustainability (CHSE) certification is very important for tourism sector businesses for implementation.

This study examines the vocabulary learning strategies of grade 11 students at a private high school in East Jakarta, focusing on four categories: cognitive, metacognitive, memory and activation strategies. Using a quantitative descriptive method, data was collected from 169 students attending English classes. The data was collected using a questionnaire with a Likert scale and open-ended questions. The questionnaire consisted of 4 vocabulary learning strategies items: Cognitive Strategy, Metacognitive Strategy, Memory Strategy, and Activation Strategy. Each item consisted of 10 questions. The findings showed a diversity in strategy use, with digital tools and contextual inference being the most frequently used cognitive strategies. Metacognitive strategies such as goal setting and self-assessment were not consistently applied, while memory strategies such as repetition and auditory reinforcement proved effective for vocabulary retention. Activation strategies, including using new words in online conversations and interactions, highlighted the integration of technology in learning. This research emphasizes the importance of diverse and targeted teaching strategies to improve students' vocabulary acquisition and overall English proficiency.

This study examines the application of higher order thinking in a class of Word Formation in Modern English course in Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, Sofia University. The course description, classroom activities and assessment are presented to give evidence on how high order thinking was applied by the lecturers. The experience of taking courses in Language and Culture program, Department of English and American Studies, implemented in the four language skills from the courses of Varieties of Spoken English and The Principle of Literary Analysis are also elaborated. In the English classrooms, the students were asked to apply higher order thinking skills in order to improve their English mastery. Deep understanding about the subject matters and being able to construct pedagogical content knowledge to develop higher-order thinking skills of the students were shown in the classroom practices in this study.
