Abstract

Abstract

Background: Hemodialysis is a kidney replacement therapy, but it has many complications identified, one of them is pain. Thus, we need non-pharmacological interventions that can be done by nurses, among them is progressive muscle relaxation (PMR), which is economically-efficient and no side effects. Objective: To determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on pain in hemodialysis patients. Methods: This is a quasi experimental design of time series design. The number of samples was 100 patients taken by simple random sampling. Progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) was given every day for 4 weeks. Research instrument  applied was Brief Pain Inventory. The data analysis employed independent t-test.Results: There was a decrease in pain level from week to week after the intervention, from the scale of 6 (moderate pain) to scale 3 (mild pain). There was a difference in the level of pain between the intervention group and the control group p <0.001.Conclusion: The therapy of non-pharmacological using a progressive muscle relaxation is proven to reduce pain in hemodialysis patients.

Abstract

Abstract: Abundant banana stem waste is often wasted and becomes an environmental problem. In fact, research results show that banana stems are rich in benefits, one of which is the potential as an anti-obesity agent. Seeing this potential, the community service team tried to process banana stem waste into nutritious and economically valuable food products. This community service activity focused on assisting PKK Metuk mothers in processing banana stems into innovative food products. With intensive training and assistance, it is hoped that PKK mothers can produce value-added food products from banana stem waste. In addition to providing health benefits to the community, this activity is also expected to improve the community's economy through the development of small and medium enterprises based on local resources. The results of this community service activity show that the processing of banana stem waste into food products can be successful. PKK mothers succeeded in producing food products that are not only beneficial for health, but also have good market potential. This success proves that banana stem waste can be a valuable resource if managed properly.   Keywords: Musa paradisiaca, economy, health

Abstract

Background: Dengue remains a significant public health issue in the Western Pacific Region. In the absence of a vaccine, vector control is the mainstay for dengue prevention and control. This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of Indoor Residual Spraying as A Method of Controlling Dengue Fever in Communities. Subjects and Method: A systematic review was conducted by searching articles from PubMed, ResearchGate, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and EBSCO is an article published from 2013 to 2023. The keywords were “dengue hemorrhagic fever” OR “DHF” AND “community” OR “family” AND “disaster” AND “IRS” OR “indoor residual spraying”. The inclusion criteria were a Cross-sectional study. The articles were selected by PRISMA flow diagram method. Results: A total of 9 studies were included in this review. All of the studies stated that IRS can have both an immediate and sustained effect on reducing adult and immature A. aegypti populations and should be considered as an adult mosquito control strategy by dengue vector control programs also IRS led to 86-96% reduction in dengue cases in sprayed premises, compared to unsprayed controls. Conclusion: IRS significantly reduces the malaria burden in high-transmission settings. Keywords: dengue hemorrhagic fever, DHF, family, community. Correspondence: Titik Anggraeni. Abstract

Old resources are a gift from God Almighty so that they can be used as well as possible for the benefit of many people. It is hoped that natural resources can be used for all levels of society, both those who are healthy and those experiencing health problems/deterioration. Likewise, using raw data sources can increase people's income so the economy rises. It is essential to utilize natural resources with various innovations that are needed for the benefit of the surrounding community, ranging from health, recreation, or culinary. Kebakan Hamlet, Metuk Village, has abundant natural water resources that have yet to be used optimally to improve the residents' economy and health. Residents only use natural resources for bathing, washing, and irrigation. The existing natural resources have made swimming pools for therapy for low back pain sufferers so that visitors who come for treatment can have a more positive impact on the surrounding community by opening food stalls, renting out floats or parking so that the existence of the pool can be beneficial from a health perspective. And economic value for local residents

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with a steadily increasing prevalence both globally and nationally. Indonesia has a high number of DM sufferers, which continues to grow annually. This situation demands community-based prevention efforts, one of which is through the empowerment of health cadres. This community service program, implemented in Keyongan Hamlet, Boyolali, aimed to improve the understanding and skills of health cadres in recognizing risk factors, early signs, and prevention strategies for DM. The activity method consisted of interactive counseling combined with group discussions and the use of leaflets. The activity took place on January 20, 2025, with 30 participants. Evaluation was conducted in a participatory manner, both through active participant involvement in the discussion and direct feedback. The results of the activity showed an increase in cadre knowledge, particularly regarding the importance of a healthy lifestyle, diet management, physical activity, and early detection. Community-based education has proven effective as a promotive and preventive measure, and strengthens the role of cadres in supporting public health.

Abstract

Public health can be improved through promotional and preventive efforts utilizing local herbal plants. Metuk Village has potential crops of ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, lime, and kepok banana waste that have not been optimally managed. The "Wedang Dokter" community service program aims to improve both the health and economic well-being of residents by utilizing herbal plants to produce health drinks. Implementation methods include outreach, production and packaging training, the application of appropriate technology, business management assistance, and digital marketing strategies. The activity results indicate an increase in the knowledge of Family Welfare (PKK) cadres about the benefits of herbal plants, their ability to produce and package wedang, and the development of a social media-based marketing strategy. The "Wedang Dokter" product was positively received by the community, as evidenced by the increased demand for the product during the program. This program supports the achievement of SDGs point 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and Asta Cita through community empowerment and strengthening the local economy.
