Abstract

ABSTRACT- This research aimed to ascertain the application of Problem Based Learning model towards student?s creative thinking skill in Biology at student of X grade of SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012. This research was a quasi experiment research. The research was designed using posttest only control group design using Problem Based Learning as model towards the experimental group, as compared to the conventional model. The conventional model was complemented with discussion, classical course and question-answer method. The population of this research was all of  X degree students at SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012.  The sample of this research was taken using cluster random sampling. The data was collected by using  essays test, document and through observation. The stated hypotheses was tested using t-test. The conclusion of this research showed that the application of  Problem Based Learning model has given significant effect towards student?s creative thinking skill in Biology at student of X grade of SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012.   Keywords: Problem Based Learning Model, Creative Thinking Skill

Abstract

West Indian arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea L.) is a tuber crop that is consumed as an alternative food. İt can grow in an area with altitudinal range from 0 to 1,000 m asl. This study aimed to analyse physiological response and photosynthate distribution which is related to growth performance and tuber yield of West Indian arrowroot at two different altitudes. Four accessions of West Indian arrowroot i.e. Bantul, Krajan, Kemalang, and Begawat were planted at 250 and 1,100 m asl. This study was conducted using split plot design with altitude as the main plot and the accession of West Indian arrowroot as a subplot. The results showed that altitudes significantly affected physiological response, plant height, leaf area per plant, and tuber yield of West Indian arrowroot. The rate of photosynthesis in the highland tended to be higher than that in the lowland, but plant height and tuber yield were lower in highland. These results suggested that the West Indian arrowroot had different pattern on photosynthate distribution between shoot and tuber at different altitudes because of environmental factors. Bantul accession had the lowest tuber yield compared to the others, and showed the low ability of accession Bantul in distributing photosynthate towards tuber.

Abstract

Banten merupakan salah satu provinsi di Indonesia yang memiliki kekayaan sejarah budaya maritim. Kekayaan budaya maritim Banten yang terus memudar perlu dikuatkan kembali untuk menuju Indonesia sebagai poros maritim dunia, salah satunya melalui pendidikan anak usia dini. Banten memiliki wilayah pesisir yang luas mulai dari pesisir utara yang menghadap Laut Jawa, pesisir barat yang menghadap Selat Sunda, dan pesisir selatan yang menghadap Samudera Hindia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan potensi sumberdaya kelautan dan perikanan di Banten yang dapat menjadi tema pembelajaran untuk mengenalkan literasi kelautan pada anak usia dini

Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul “Mengenal Tanaman dari Familia Asteraceae;Melampodium divaricatum L.” ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September 2020 bertempat di Taman Bunga Shinta, Pabuaran, Serang-Banten. Tempat tersebut dibuka setiap hari pada pukul 09:00-17:00 dengan harga tiket masuk yang cukup murah meriah. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survey melalui eksplorasi di lapangan (pengambilan sampel dengan cara menjelajahi lokasi penelitian) dan kami melakukan penelitian pada bunga yang telah masing-masing mahasiswa pilih. Identifikasi dilakukan langsung ditempat karna alat yang kami butuhkan tidak begitu sulit untuk dibawa saat ke lokasi. Banyak sekali jenis tanaman hias yang ada di Taman Bunga Shinta tersebut, walaupun penelitian dilakukan saat keadaan pandemik dilokasi tidak terlalu ramai pengunjung dan tetap masing-masing pengunjung memperhatikan protokol kesehatan yang ada.

Abstract

Putri malu merupakan tumbuhan liar yang banyak ditemukan di daerah lembap dan tropis. Di Desa Susukan, Kecamatan Tirtayasa, Kabupaten Serang, Banten terdapat dua jenis tanaman putri malu, yaitu Mimosa pigra L. dan Mimosa pudica L. Mimosa pigra belum dikenal secara umum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan karakter morfologi M. pigra dan M. pudica. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada M. pigra tidak ditemukan buah. Batang dari kedua spesies memiliki penampang melintang yang berbentuk bulat, trikoma, dan duri sejati, tetapi warna, arah tumbuh, dan tinggi dari keduanya berbeda. Pada M. pigra, daun berwarna hijau, sedangkan pada M. pudica sedikit berwarna merah di bagian pinggir daun. Kecepatan mengatup daun M. pigra sekitar 03:62 detik, sedangkan pada M. pudica 02:13 detik. Pada M. pigra, bunga tumbuh di ketiak batang, sedangkan pada M. pudica tumbuh di ketiak daun. Kedua spesies memiliki bunga dengan warna merah muda. Namun pada M. pudica, bunga berwarna putih dan layu saat matahari terbenam.

Abstract

Tumbuhan paku merupakan salah satu flora yang banyak ditemukan di kawasan hutan hujan tropis sebagai vegetasi penutup tanah. Tumbuhan paku memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem hutan yaitu pencegah erosi, pengaturan tata air, dan membantu proses pelapukan serasah hutan. Keanekaragaman tumbuhan paku cukup tinggi dan memiliki persebaran yang luas di Indonesia. Hutan Pendidikan Gunung Walat (HPGW) merupakan kawasan hutan yang terletak di Kecamatan Cibadak dan Cicantayan, Kabupaten Sukabumi, Jawa Barat. HPGW terletak pada ketinggian 460-726 m dpl dan memiliki luas sebesar 359 hektar. Informasi mengenai keanekaragaman tumbuhan paku di kawasan HPGW yang banyak ditumbuhi pohon pinus (Pinus merkusii) dan damar (Agathis dammara) masih terbatas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan identifikasi keragaman tumbuhan paku pada tegakan pinus dan damar, serta iklim mikro yang berpengaruh terhadap kedua lokasi yang didominasi oleh kedua jenis tumbuhan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan untuk pengamatan adalah metode garis menyinggung, yaitu metode yang digunakan untuk penarikan contoh tipe vegetasi bukan hutan, seperti semak atau tumbuhan rendah (rumput). Pengambilan sampel dilakukan di dua lokasi, yaitu tegakan pinus dan tegakan damar yang ditentukan secara acak. Pada tiap lokasi dibuat transek sepanjang 10 m dengan 10 interval, dilakukan sebanyak 5 ulangan. Jenis tumbuhan paku yang ditemukan di kedua lokasi HPGW yaitu pada tegakan pinus dan damar berjumlah 5 jenis, yaitu Selaginella sp., Taenitis interrupta, Nephrolepis biserrata, Microlepia speluncae, dan Lygodium japonicum. Jenis tumbuhan paku yang mendominasi adalah Selaginella sp. Faktor iklim mikro seperti intensitas cahaya matahari dan kelembapan udara turut berperan dalam pertumbuhan dan keanekaragaman jenis tumbuhan paku.

Abstract

Air pollution caused by motor vehicle emissions is a significant environmental issue in Indonesia. One of the main pollutants from these emissions is carbon monoxide (CO), which can harm the environment and inhibit plant growth. High carbon monoxide exposure can cause plants to experience stress. This study aims to analyze the biomass accumulation of several plant species from the Poaceae family (Setaria plicata, Rottboellia cochinchinensis, Eleusine indica, and Paspalum conjugatum) under carbon monoxide exposure. The research method used was an experimental study with a Two-Factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The factors tested included plant species (four types) and the frequency of carbon monoxide exposure (three levels), with each treatment repeated three times. The results showed that the shoot dry weight was influenced by the plant species and the frequency of carbon monoxide exposure separately, with no interaction between the two factors. Rottboellia cochinchinensis had the highest shoot and root dry weight accumulation compared to the other species, while Paspalum conjugatum had the lowest biomass accumulation. The frequency of carbon monoxide exposure twice a week for two consecutive weeks resulted in the lowest shoot dry weight among the Poaceae plants.

Abstract

Cemara Beach in Banyuwangi Regency has a unique mangrove ecosystem with a river flow that limits the tidal area with the land behind it. This study aims to determine the structure and composition of mangroves in Cemara Beach and its zoning. The method used is a vegetation survey with a transect plot. Data were analyzed using ecological indices and zoning illustrated from the results of vegetation surveys and observations. The results show that the Casuarina equisetifolia species has the highest important value index (IVI) in tree-level vegetation with an IVI value of 128.29%, while the highest IVI at the sapling level is owned by the Rhizophora mucronata species of 86.72% and the Acanthus ilicifolius species of 64.41% at the seedling level. The species diversity index (H') and dominance index (D) of mangroves in Cemara Beach are classified as moderate with average values ​​of 1.21 and 0.35. Then the species evenness index (E) of mangroves in Cemara Beach is included in the high category with an average E value approaching one at 0.78, while the species richness index (R) is classified as very low with an average value of 0.93. The zoning formed in mangrove vegetation in Cemara Beach is in sequence from sea to land, namely Casuarina equisetifolia, Rhizophora mucronata, Acanthus ilicifolius, Avicennia alba, Sonneratia alba, and Excoecaria agallocha. These findings suggest the need for targeted conservation and rehabilitation strategies that consider the natural zonation and dominance patterns of mangrove species to maintain the ecological balance of Cemara Beach.

Abstract

Perumahan Graha Dalung Residence memiliki permasalahan penting terkait sampah terutama sampak organik. Sampah organik yang bersumber dari kegiatan rumah tangga yang dihasilkan warga belum terkelola dengan baik. Hal ini disebabkan oleh pengetahuan, minat, dan keterampilan warga terkait pengolahan serta pemanfaatan sampah rumah tangga masih rendah. Tujuan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini yaitu memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan mengenai proses pembuatan bioetanol dan pupuk organic cair (POC) dari sisa buah dan sayur sehingga terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan, minat, dan keterampilan pada warga Perumahan Graha Dalung Residence. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November tahun 2023 dengan peserta berjumlah 30 orang. Kegiatan PkM meliputi persiapan kegiatan, focus group discussion (FGD), pelaksanaan kegiatan berupa sosialisasi dan pendampingan, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Pengetahuan awal sebelum sosialisasi diberikan (pretest) dan setelah sosialisasi diberikan (posttest) dievaluasi. Hasil kegiatan PkM ini menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan warga dari 89 % menjadi 92 %, minat warga dari 90 % menjadi 93 %, serta keterampilan warga dari 71 % menjadi 87 %. Hasil kegiatan PkM diharapkan dapat mendukung pengelolaan sampah yang berkelanjutan di tingkat rumah tangga.
