Abstract

This paper tries to analyze verbal clauses in the short story Al-Hilm Ar- -Ra’i by Najeeb Al-Kailani by paying attention to the types and functions within the text. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using library research and short story analysis methods. The syntactic approach is used in this study.  The focus of this research is the analysis of verbal clauses in the short story Al-Hilm Ar- Ra’i by Najeeb Al-Kailani as primary data. Secondary data were obtained from books and scientific articles using the syntactic analysis theory by Musthafa Al-Ghulayaini. The data collected consists of verbal clauses or jumlah fi’liyyah. The data collection technique used is the library research technique. Data analysis techniques include four parts: identifying the data, determining the data, and examining the data results. The results of the study show two types and positions of clauses. First, clauses that occupy a function in the sentence structure; within the short story, there were 9 verbal clauses (from all 27 data) that occupy a function in the sentences. Second, clauses that do not occupy a function in the sentence structure are indicated by 18 data. However, based on their positions, clauses can be divided into two categories: complete clauses and incomplete clauses. There were 9 complete clauses, and 7 incomplete clauses found. This research provides an in-depth understanding of verbal clauses and their various types and positions, as well as their relevance to theories in syntactic analysis. The implications of these findings can be used to help readers or other researchers expand their knowledge of Arabic language structure and possibly apply it in different contexts.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the freedom of expression challenge (ta’bīr al-hurriyyah) through Arab intellectual experiences. Although freedom of expression has doctrinal support and historical factual expertise in Islam, it is still challenging to find its actual implementation within the Arab world, especially in Arab countries with authoritarian systems. Therefore, the paper begins by exploring several examples of intimidation experienced by Arab intellectuals as the consequences of their critical ideas and voices. Specifically, the paper examines freedom of expression among Arab scholars in Syrian as an authoritarian state. The failure of the Arab Spring made it more difficult for freedom of expression to find its free space. As a qualitative study, data was collected by gathering essential information from journals, books, and online websites. The data were then analyzed through critical reading based on formulated research questions. The paper concluded that freedom of expression has its historical doctrine in Arab-Islam. However, this moral doctrine did not lead to absolute freedom of expression. It is proved that most Arab intellectuals experienced bitter life due to their critical voices. In the Syrian context, Arab intellectuals are divided between those who support the regime and maintain opposition to the ruling government. However, the opposition keeps conducting the reform in silence since the voices and protests will lead them to exile or death. Due to this polarization, critical voices in Syria have not successfully become a powerful movement.

Abstract

The accuracy of translation from the source language (SL) to the targeted language (TL) is not easy work. The translator should act as the connector between the writer of the work and the reader of the translation. The paper tries to analyses the translation of Arbai'n An-Nawawi by using the techniques offered by Molina Albir. This is a qualitative study that focuses on how the translator translated the Idhofi case in the Matan of Araba'in as the material object of this paper. Besides, the authors distributed questionnaires to assess the quality of the translation. The paper found that the translator uses 11 techniques that consist of 64 data of literal, 25 data of amplification, 21 data of borrowing, 12 data adaptation techniques, 6 data of compensation, 2 data of discursive creation, 2 data of reduction, 1 data of generalization, 1 data of modulation, and 1 data of transposition technique. Meanwhile, from the quality of the translation, it can be concluded that the compensation technique is much more acceptable, with 81% very accurate, 73% acceptable, and 77% rated high legibility. It is because the method helps the reader to understand the meaning, message, and goals to be conveyed.

Abstract

The development of the flow of Arabic knowledge at the pesantren level (Madrasah Aliyah, Madrasah Diniyah, and Madrasah Ta'wiliyah). Demanding increased Arabic learning to santri. However, this is inversely proportional to the fact that students are declining in developing Arabic mufrodat and linguistics material. This study aims to analyze the Arabic language learning model based on multiple intelligences from a neuroscience perspective. The setting of this research is located in the Himmatul ‘Amilin Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta. The subjects of this research consisted of the leaders of Islamic boarding schools, musyrif, and ustadz. Subject selection was carried out using the purposive sampling technique to obtain objective and valid data. The approach in this research is to use a case study-based qualitative method. Researchers in collecting data using observation methods, direct interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique was followed by Milies and Huberman, namely by displaying data, reducing data, and verifying data. The results of this study explain that learning Arabic based on multiple intelligences increases the intelligence of students in learning Arabic mufradat and linguistics (mufradat, Arabic morphology, and Arabic syntax). From some of the material taught, namely about everyday mufradat and understanding of shorof in the isim file chapter. In this case, multiple intelligences are combined with neuroscientific theory between the interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence centers in the right brain and left brain. This research has implications for the improvement and development of students in understanding Arabic material (quwaidul arabiyah) in today's Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the factors behind the emergence of the Darija dialect in Morocco and to describe the types of Moroccan dialects, especially on Aisha Devi's Official YouTube account. Objects in this study are divided into two, material objects and formal objects. The material object is the Darija dialect on the Aisha Devi Official YouTube account, while the formal object is the focus of the sociolinguistic review in the Darija dialect research on the Aisha Devi Official YouTube account. The method used in the study is the Huberman stage method, which starts from observation, making data displays based on existing findings, and data classification. The results of this study reveal various things, including the emergence of the Darija dialect in Morocco which can be grouped into four major groups, geographical factors, sociological factors, historical and civilizational factors, as well as economic factors. While the types of Darija dialect are divided into two, (1) absorptions from foreign languages including French, Spanish, and Amazigh and (2) absorptions from Arabic Fusha, which are almost the same in terms of writing but also have different pronunciations from the Darija dialect with different writing also pronunciation with Arabic Fusha.

Abstract

Arabic language, in its sociological context is divided into two varieties: fusha and ‘amiyya. Arabic fusha is the official language and perceived as the language of Islam. In contrast to the fusha, ‘amiyya is the language used by the Arab people in their daily conversations. However, this ‘amiyya is considered as inferior. The method used in this study was qualitative that stressed the interaction between language and its sociological context. The method assumed that social and political events affected language use in a particular society. The paper tries to re-popularize the two terms used by Ferguson that are "high variety" (H) and "low variety” (L) culture in analyzing the two languages varieties. Besides, the paper explores the tension of the two languages through contemporary social and political events taking place in the Arab World. The Arabic fusha is perceived as a representation of "H” culture because it is a language used in religious literature and official writings, while the ‘amiyya referred to as a representation of "L” variety culture because it is used only as a medium of regular communication.

Abstract

Language plays an essential role in global communication, with Arabic holding a prominent status alongside English due to its literary richness and its significance within the Muslim community. In Indonesia, Arabic language education is widely available, exemplified by the BBA (Belajar Bahasa Arab) program, which offers online instruction. This study explores the learning challenges encountered by tutors and participants in the program’s 13th cohort. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through interviews with one tutor and nine participants, supported by observation and phenomenological analysis. The results identify two primary categories of challenges: linguistic and non-linguistic. Linguistic challenges pertain to participants’ limited mastery of fundamental Arabic linguistic features, while non-linguistic challenges involve technical issues such as unstable internet connections and low learning motivation. These findings underscore the need for enhanced pedagogical strategies and improved technological infrastructure to increase the effectiveness of online Arabic language instruction.

Abstract

ABSTRACTS The Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) Program is a global initiative aimed at reducing carbon emissions from the forestry sector. Central Kalimantan has served as a pilot province for REDD+ implementation in Indonesia since 2007 through various initiatives led by the government and international organizations. This study aims to analyze the initial implementation dynamics of REDD+ in Central Kalimantan in 2007, focusing on policies, implementing actors, and key challenges encountered. The research applies a descriptive qualitative approach, using literature review and policy document analysis. The results indicate that the period 2007–2012 was the readiness phase, during which institutional and policy frameworks were developed; the period 2013–2014 marked the implementation phase; and the period 2016 to the present represents the result-based payment phase. However, the early implementation faced several major challenges, including limited inter-agency coordination, low technical capacity, and weak synchronization between national and regional policies. Despite these obstacles, the early stage of REDD+ implementation in Central Kalimantan has provided an important foundation for the future development of climate and forest governance policies in Indonesia.
