Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the understanding of the meaning of the word ‘auliya’ in Quran Al-Maidah:51 and its implementation in the Indonesia and Malaysia leader election. This research was a qualitative study with library analysis where the data were derived from questionnaire and interview of 26 respondents from Indonesia and Malaysia. The respondents were those who understood Arabic and were able to interpret the Quran. The object of the research was the translation of Surah Almaidah verse by JAKIM and the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia. The Creswell model was used in data analysis by reading, coding, interpreting and giving the meaning to topics. A descriptive statistical analysis was used to describe the data from questionnaire and interview. It was found that Indonesian and Malaysian respondents had a similar perception to understand the meaning of the word ‘auliya’ as a leader  implemented in the presidential and governors elections, and even to determine political parties. The difference in the translation of the Quran did not have a significant effect on the political practices in Indonesia and Malaysia

Abstract

Pronunciation therapy for deaf students is a very important context within the sphere of the Quran learning. Previous investigations in this domain predominantly focused on media and visual approaches, neglecting the discussion of Arabic letter pronunciation therapy (phonetically). Therefore, this research aimed to elucidate various forms of pronunciation therapy designed for deaf students and the underlying factors motivating the use of the therapeutic techniques. This descriptive qualitative research relied on the primary data collected through an investigation conducted at Qotrunnada Islamic Special School (SLB) in Bantul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The primary data comprised the diverse methods applied in Arabic letter pronunciation therapy and the determinant factors of articulation disorders. The research subjects were limited to pure deaf students, categorized by age and the length of therapy. Each student exhibited different results of assessment and response to pronunciation therapy. Moreover, data validation was performed through interaction with the school principal as the research team. The results showed that the forms of pronunciation therapy included articulation therapy (phonetically) exercises addressing sound production, as well as interventions targeting attention and behavior for deaf students in coping with Arabic letter difficulties. This contribution would serve as a basic guide in the development of instruments for Arabic letter pronunciation therapy designed for students with special needs.

Abstract

Evaluation of Arabic language learning requires a valid and reliable instrument to measure students' abilities accurately. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the ITMAM (Ikhtibar Tahdid Mustawa al-'Arabiyyah lil Muta'allimin) instrument as a measuring tool for the Arabic reading skills of STITMA Yogyakarta students. The research method uses a descriptive quantitative approach by analyzing 60 questions tested on 311 students using SPSS version 25 software to test validity, reliability, level of difficulty and discriminatory power. Analysis is needed to ensure the quality of the test instrument that can provide accurate measurement results and become the basis for effective learning evaluation. The results showed that all questions were valid and reliable, with 65% having a moderate difficulty level, 37.7% at an easy level and 3.3% at a difficult level. The results of the Discriminatory Power Test showed that 60% of the questions were accepted well and 40% needed revision so the ITMAM instrument is suitable for use as a standard evaluation tool for Arabic reading ability with several improvements to certain questions.
