Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a growth condition reflected in a height-for-age or length-for-age that is below -2 standard deviations. It is identified by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a priority objective for global health improvement. Objective: This study aimed to determine the factors that contribute to stunting in children younger than 5 years. Methods: The study adopted a cross-sectional design and a sample of 150 children under the age of 5 whose mothers were the respondents, was selected using the purposive sampling method. Data were collected through questionnaire interviews and anthropometric measurements. Results: The results showed that 28% of children were stunted, with 54.7% being male and 58% not exclusively breastfed. Approximately 60.7% and 57.3% had fathers with a history of smoking and mothers with high education, respectively. The mothers of 74% were unemployed, while 80.7% of the stunted children were from low-income families. Based on statistical analysis, stunting had a significant correlation with a history of exclusive breastfeeding were significantly correlated (p = 0.01) and educational attainment of mothers (p = 0.04). Conclusion: The prevalence of stunting remained high compared to the national norm. The incidence was correlated with the educational attainment of mothers and the duration of exclusive breastfeeding. Therefore, mothers should be educated about the value of exclusive breastfeeding to avoid the condition.

Abstract

Lichen merupakan organisme simbiosis antara jamur dan alga yang dikenal sensitif terhadap perubahan lingkungan, terutama pencemaran udara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi lichen sebagai bioindikator kualitas udara di kawasan PT. Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang (PUSRI), sebuah industri pupuk yang berpotensi menghasilkan polutan seperti amonia. Pengamatan dilakukan di empat lokasi berbeda, yaitu taman tanaman langka, perumahan, pos sekuriti, dan kawasan pabrik, dengan fokus pada karakteristik morfologi lichen, luas penutupan talus, serta kemampuan menyerap air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya dua tipe talus lichen, yaitu foliose dan crustose, dengan dominasi foliose di lokasi yang memiliki kelembaban tinggi dan crustose di area dengan polusi udara lebih tinggi seperti kawasan pabrik. Luas penutupan lichen tertinggi ditemukan di perumahan (7,75 cm²), sedangkan terendah di kawasan pabrik (2,5 cm²). Kemampuan lichen menyerap air juga lebih rendah di kawasan pabrik (0,06–0,07 g) dibandingkan lokasi lain (0,45–0,77 g), menunjukkan dampak polusi udara terhadap vitalitas lichen. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa lichen dapat menjadi bioindikator efektif untuk memantau kualitas udara, terutama di kawasan industri. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk mengukur tingkat polutan secara kuantitatif dan mengkaji keanekaragaman jenis lichen di lokasi tersebut.

Abstract

Abstract: PT Sumatera Prima Fibreboard (PT SPF) is a private company that produces medium-density fibreboard (MDF). PT SPF made a green area in several locations in the factory environment as an effort to reduce air pollution, especially CO2 gas due to MDF production activities. The function of green area as a carbon pool has an important role in reducing and suppressing the release of CO2 emissions into the air. This research aims to determine the value of biomass and stored carbon reserves in saplings, poles, and trees rates, as well as understorey, and litter in PT SPF's green areas. This research used stratified purposive sampling methods. The saplings, poles, and trees biomass used non-destructive method by recording the species, and the diameter at breast height. Understorey and litter biomass measurements used destructive method by taking parts of the understorey and litter above the surface as samples. Based on this research, there were 13 saplings, poles, and trees rates species belonging to 9 families and 13 understory species belonging to 11 families in the research plots. The potential for saplings, poles, trees, understorey, and litter carbon storage in 5 green areas of PT SPF with total area of 16,673 m2 (1.67 ha) is 471,20 tons and classified as a good category.

Abstract

Kawasan suksesi alami pada area pengendapan tailing Tanggul Ganda berpotensi besarsebagai sumber cadangan karbon. Estimasi stok karbon biomassa vegetasi hutan suksesi alami TanggulGanda telah dilakukan selama Pebruari-Mei 2010.Sampel tumbuhan bawah dan serasah diambil dari 7blok yang masing-masing terdiri atas 6 sub plot. Hasil analisis memperlihatkan bahwa stok karbon dikawasan suksesi alami blok B4BL dan B5BL adalah 38,84 ton/ha berasal dari 23,87 ton/ha tumbuhanbawah dan 5,9 ton/ha serasah. Stok karbon di blok B1BB, B4BB, B9BB, B10BB, dan B12BB adalah112,4 ton/ha berasal dari 98,6 ton/ha tumbuhan bawah 13,81 ton/ha serasah. Nilai biomassa dan stokkarbon serasah yang lebih rendah dari tumbuhan bawah diduga berkaitan dengan proses dekomposisibahan organik yang berlangsung lebih cepat pada serasah. Setiap vegetasi menghasilkan kualitasbiomassa yang berbeda. dan sisa biomassa menjadi sumber bahan organik yang dapat dimanfaatkanuntuk memperbaiki kualitas tanah.
