Abstract

Background: The integration of technology in physical education (PE) has gained increasing attention for its potential to enhance student engagement and motivation. Fitness tracker applications, available on smartphones and wearables, offer innovative solutions for real-time feedback, activity monitoring, and motivational support. Research Objective: This study evaluates eleventh-grade students' perceptions of the effectiveness of fitness tracker apps in enhancing engagement and motivation in PE. Methods: The study was conducted with 60 students (30 males and 30 females) at Vocational High School 3 Tegal, Central Java, Indonesia. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative data from structured questionnaires and fitness trackers with qualitative insights from semi-structured interviews and direct observations. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests, while thematic analysis was applied to the qualitative data.  Finding/Results: The quantitative results indicated significant improvements in student engagement, motivation, and awareness of physical fitness, with increased frequency of app usage and higher motivation to exercise (p < 0.05). Qualitative analysis revealed that students appreciated the real-time feedback and motivational features of the apps, which enhanced their overall enjoyment and commitment to physical activities. However, technical challenges such as data synchronisation issues and difficulties with initial setup were consistently reported by participants. Conclusion: Fitness tracker applications hold significant potential to enhance student engagement and motivation in PE. The relatively small sample size (60 students) may limit the generalisability of the findings. Future research should address this limitation by incorporating larger samples and exploring solutions to technical challenges.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Based on the results of observations that researchers found in the field, the low physical fitness of VII grade male students is evident from the facts that researchers found in the process of physical fitness learning for the 1st semester of 2021/2022 school year. Only 13 students who have good physical fitness level out of 37 students, here the percentage can only be 35.14%, while 64.86% have low physical fitness levels (Physical Educater for Junior Haig School 1 Tiumang, Dharmasraya Regency). This study aims to uncover the differences in the learning model of game modification and traditional games on physical fitness of male students of class VII Male Students of Junior High School 3 Koto Baru Dharmasraya Regency) This type of research is quasi-experimental, which was conducted on Agust 1 to Ocober 2 in male students of class VII Junior High School 3 Koto Baru Dharmasraya District, amounting to 30 people. Sampling in this study using proportional random sampling techniques to obtain a sample of 24 people. The test instrument used in this study is the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test for children aged 13-15 years while the statistical data analysis technique uses the normality test, and the t-test. Based on the results of data analysis using t-test analysis. The first hypothesis is obtained tcount (10.78)> ttable (1.796) which means that there is a significant exercise effect of the learning model of game modification on physical fitness.. Abstract

Abstract This research aims to find out whether there is an effect of stroke smash and drill smash training on the accuracy of jumping smash shots. This research is experimental research with a quantitative approach. The population in the study were all players at the Bungo Sport Badminton Association, totaling 20 people. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The sample in this study was 12 U 12-17 players. The results of this research show that (1) the first hypothesis states that there is an influence of smash stroke training on jumping smash accuracy at the Bungo Sport Association, with a value of t = 6.708 while t table = 2.570 with a significance level of 0.05. These results show that tcount is greater than ttable. Soha is accepted and ho is rejected. (2) the second hypothesis which states that there is an influence of drills smash training on the accuracy of jumping smashes at the Bungo Sport Association, with a value of t = 6325 while t table = 2.570 with a significance level of 0.05. These results show that tcount is greater than ttable. Soha is accepted and ho is rejected. (3) the third hypothesis which states that there is a difference between stroke smash training and drill smash training on jumping smash accuracy at the Bungo Sport Association, with a value of t = 0.000 while t table = 2.228 with a significance level of 0.05. These results show that tcount is smaller than ttable. Soha is rejected and ho is accepted, meaning there is no difference between the two exercises. Abstract

This research started from the existence of several problems including the inaccuracy of choosing models and forms of training in achieving the desired goals and targets, especially increasing the ability of lob shots and the unknown effect of shuttlecock throwing exercises on increasing the ability of lob strokes in PB Bungo Sport Badminton Players in Bungo Regency. This study aims to determine the effect of the shuttlecock throwing exercise on increasing the lob ability of badminton athletes in PB. Bungo Sport Bungo Regency. This type of research is an experiment with the design of "The One Group Pretest-Postest Design". The population in this study were PB badminton athletes. Bungo Sport Bungo Regency, totaling 13 athletes. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, with the following criteria: (1) male and female (2) aged 9-11 years, (3) willing to be a sample. Based on these criteria, 10 athletes met. The instrument used is the lob ability test (French Test). Data analysis used t test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that there was a significant effect of shuttlecock training on increasing lob hitting ability. In this case, the athlete's lob shot ability who was taught with exercise treatment (posttest) was higher than before the treatment exercise treatment. This is evidenced by the value of Fcount (1,28) < Ftable (2,69). In addition, from the results of hypothesis testing conducted with the t-test, it is known that there is a significant effect after the posttest measurement, which is indicated by the tcount 11,42> ttable 1,78. Therefore, it can be concluded that the treatment has a significant effect on increasing the lob ability of badminton athletes in PB. Bungo Sport Bungo Regency.
