Abstract This study aims to see whether there is an effect of using a digital book on the reading ability of students in class X SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Selatan. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The population in this study were all class X-MIA SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Selatan and the sample was taken by 72 students with simple random sampling technique. The data technique used a written test in the form of an essay, the instruments used were pretest and posttest. Based on the t-test analysis using SPSS version 22 for windows, it is found that the value of t count< t table (1.241< 1.667). This shows that the ability to overcome students' reading skills by using digital books is better than students who use conventional learning models. Therefore, learning using a digital book can be used in implementing English learning at SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Selatan for the 2020/2021 school year.

ABSTRACTThis research discussed about the relationship between language application and culture; language as a means of culture in Angkola- Mandailing community, and this research intended to know the relationship between language application and culture in Angkola Angkola- Mandailing community. This research was conducted by qualitative-descriptive method that describes the relationship between language application and culture based on Nababan's theory (Nababan, 1986). The results of this research are that the relationship between language and culture in Angkola ethnic: 1) language as a means of cultural development; for example margondang, mangayun. 2) Language as a pathway for cultural heir; for example: martahi /marpege-pege, makkobar. 3) And language as an inventory of cultural characteristics; markusip which is no longer practiced by young people in Padangsidimpuan, however, in Angkola- Mandailing community knows what that (markusip). So the relationship between language and culture is very clear in this research, because without language it is culture, and culture includes language.Keywords: Language Applications and Culture; development, heir, inventory

Tulisan ini berjudul Pantulan Fonem Konsonan /c/, /k/ dalam Bahasa Batak Toba /s/, /h/ dalam Batak Angkola. Permasalahan yang dibahas dalam tulisan ini adalah bagaimanakah Pantulan Fonem Konsonan /c/, /k/ dalam Bahasa Batak Toba menjadi /s/, /h/ dalam Batak Angkola? Sementara itu, tulisan ini bertujuan mendeskrifsikan pantulan Fonem Konsonan /c/, /k/ dalam Bahasa Batak Toba /s/, /h/ dalam Batak Angkola. Teori yang digunakan dalam tulisan adalah teori Linguistik Historis Komparatif yang memiliki dua pandangan ini. Kedua pandangan tersebut adalah Tipe-tipe Perubahan Fonetis dan Tipe-tipe Proses Fonologis. Sedangkan metode yang penulis pergunakan adalah metode perbandingan yaitu perbandingan bahasa Batak Toba dengan bahasa Batak Angkola. Perbandingan yang ditekankan adalah fonem /c/ /s/ dan /h//k/ dalam bahasa Batak Toba dan bahasa Batak Angkola. Berdasarkan uraian pada bab pembahasan, maka dapat disimpulkan hal-hal sebagai berikut : Berdasarkan kosa kata yang kognat, fonem pantulan Fonem Konsonan /c/ dan /k/ dalam Bahasa Batak Toba mengalami perubahan linier menjadi /s/ dan /h/ dalam Batak Angkola. Hal ini terjadi baik pada posisi awal dan tengah. Perubahan tersebut adalah sebagai berikut : s c, dan h k. The Analysis of the Teaching Strategy of English Teachers is an analytical study that is useful for knowing the situation or learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially how the teacher's strategies are in learning during this pandemic, especially English teachers. This study uses a qualitative type, generating data through interviews and documentation to obtain the results of the analysis. The object of research is in the Private Vocational School of the Regional Government of Rantauprapat. The research sample is schools by interviewing teachers and several students at the school. The data from this analysis were taken from observation and taken through the instruments of several questions given to the teachers and students who were interviewed, so that accurate analysis results were obtained. Researchers asked questions related to teaching and learning activities at this school, especially with what strategies teachers used in teaching during this pandemic in the learning process.

This study aims to determine the effect of think aloud strategy on students’ reading comprehension at the tenth grade of smk swasta siti banun. The data collection technique was used to measure students’ learning outcomes in the form of assignment questions carried out on the pretest and posttest. The data analysis technique used is normality test using F test, homogeneity test and hypothesis testing using t test. The hypothesis in this study was tested by t-test at a significant level = 0.05. From the calculation of the data it was seen that t-count > t-table (3,41> 1,67). Thus the null hypothesis is that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. From the results, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of Think Aloud Strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension at Tenth Grade of SMK Swasta Siti BanunKeywords: Reading comprehension; Think Aloud Strategy; Thinking Hard.

This study aims to describe the value of local wisdom contained in the oral tradition of the Mandailing community. The research method used is descriptive analysis method with the data source in the study is the endeng endeng dance. The results showed that there were 3 values of local wisdom, namely manners, life advice, social procedures. The results also show that oral traditions have local wisdom values that need to be revitalized to be applied and taught to the younger generation now as the basis for character building.

The objective of the study is to improve pronunciation skill by using English Pronunciation Digital at MAN Labuhanbatu especially eleventh grade. The population of this study is all eleventh grade with total of 129. In this study, researchers used two classes. They are control class and experimental class and as the sample is XI MIPA 3 as control class with 30 students. The research result showed that using English Pronunciation Digital can improve pronunciation skill. Since the result is proved by t-test is lower than pre-test and post-test that the value of sig 0,000 < at level 0,05. The resulting value t of in the experimental is df29 is 1,699 the resulting t value experimental class is 19,994 then tcount > ttable (19,994> 1,699). While the value of in the control class is 13,750 then tcount> ttable (13,750 > 1,699). From this, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, so that there are any improving the students’ Pronunciation from English Pronunciation Digital on the students’ skill in the class XI MIPA 4.

This study aims to describe brain development in children's language skills. This type of research is a qualitative research that examines the language skills of early childhood in a neurolinguistic way. The object of this study were 2 boys and 2 girls with different parenting styles. Data collection techniques were carried out directly and direct interviews with the child's parents. The results showed that parental factors greatly influenced the development of children's language skills. Parents must be patient when they have to teach their children many things, establishing 2-way communication can help children withstand brain development. The mistakes of parents that hinder the development of their children's language, such as not playing with children, rarely inviting children to communicate, exemplifying slurred speech, introducing gadgets from infancy, rarely reading story books to children.
