Abstract

This research is based on the variety of students' work in completing mathematical translations, especially from verbal representations to graphs. This study aimed to analyze the path of students' mathematical translation thinking from verbal representations to graphs. Thirty-two students were involved in completing the mathematical translation task, and four students were selected as research subjects. The supporting instruments in this research are in the form of mathematical translation tasks and interview guidelines. The data analysis step begins by grouping the students' work and making a transcript of the interview results. Next, the researcher explored and coded the students' work, found differences in the mathematical translational thinking path, explained the mathematical translation process for each path, reported the findings, interpreted the findings, and validated the research results by triangulating data sources. This study resulted in two types of students' mathematical translational thinking paths, namely the complete and incomplete construction translational thinking path. The difference between these two paths lies in the completeness of cognitive activity in each step of mathematical translation. The results of this study are used as considerations in designing meaningful mathematics learning activities.

Abstract

AbstractThis research is motivated by the lack of social interaction among students to improve the quality of understanding and learning. Yet this is very important  to achieve maximum results in learning, including the habit of students to give feedback, criticism, responses, compliments to each other; mutual energies and thoughts to the group; more concerned with common interests rather than personal interests; mutual aid among fellow members of the group to ensure that all members understand the task they are doing; and they not only contribute but also learn something from the group. Therefore, this study discusses about how the image of students HTI in learning math is done cooperatively. The method used is descriptive quantitative research, the subjects are students of SMPN 5 Bandung totaling 29 person. The instrument that this research used was a questionnaire and observation sheet. The result of this research show that students’ HTI in learning cooperative are good, such as they are care/emphathize to the others feeling and thought, to look at and listen to others with understanding and empathy, showing their independence in learning and collaborative team.Kata Kunci: Habit of Thinking Interdependently (HTI), Pembelajaran Kooperatif

Abstract

Abstract

The main problem in this research is the lack of adequate learning media, the textbooks which often display 3D images simplified into 2D, which can cause misunderstanding of students towards the concept of three-dimensional shapes. It also found that students showed high interest in learning using videos due to the limited environment by the latest technology. The purpose of this research is to produce a valid and practical Problem Based Learning (PBL) video.  This type of research is development research with the 4-D development model, which consists of four stages. Define is the stage to determine why the product developed, along with its specifications. Design is designing the product based on the predetermined specifications. Develop is to produce the product, testing its validity and practicality to ensure that the outcomes meet the expected specifications. Disseminate is the stage of distributing the validated product to a wider audience for practical use but not used in this research. Data were carried out through questionnaires. The instruments used in this study include validation sheets, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. Based on the research results conducted on ninth-grade students of SMP IT An-Nahl, it can be concluded that the PBL-based learning video for flat-sided space shapes material has a high validity level with a percentage of 85.03%. For practicality testing, the teacher response questionnaire showed an average percentage of 87.3%, which is categorized as very practical, while the student response questionnaire obtained an average percentage of 93%, also categorized as very practical.

Abstract

Students at UPTD SMPN 3 Payakumbuh have a variety of dominant intelligences, but the implementation of learning and available learning resources have not been able to accommodate the multiple intelligences possessed by students. So additional learning resources are needed that are student-centred and can optimize the multiple intelligences of students. This research aims to produce valid and practical Multiple Intelligences-based LKPD on flat-sided geometric material. This development research uses a 3D model, namely the definition stage (observation and interviews with teachers and students, syllabus and lesson plans, analysis of learning analysis sources, student characteristics, as well as LKPD literature based on Multiple Intelligences), design stage, and development analysis stage (validity and practicality). The instruments used were validation sheets and student response questionnaires. Data were analyzed using validity analysis and practicality analysis. The research results show that the Multiple Intelligences-based LKPD is very valid with a percentage of 88.69% and very practical with a percentage of 84.94%.
