Abstract

Pest control in vegetable cropping by using chemical pesticides intensively can have a negative impact on human health and environmental health. The IPM approach was an innovation that farmers need to adapt to reduce the use of chemical pesticides. This study was conducted to formulate the priority strategy for implementing IPM in Bumiaji Subdistrict. Determination of priority strategies to implementing IPM uses the Expert Choice in processing data. The method used in this study is Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with the criteria used are: (1) IPM Knowledge and Perception, (2) Human quality improvement,  (3) Agriculture Extension and (4) Technologies availability.  Based on the result of AHP, the most decisive criteria in implementing IPM in vegetable cropping in Bumiaji Subdistrict, criteria of human quality improvement, in turn, the sub-criteria of training and behavior are the two sub-criteria that are highly prioritized.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analysis about the composition of the catch, the selectivity of fishing gear and fishing gear level of friendliness to the environment. The data collection is done by experimental fishing.  Selectivity analysis applied by  Shannon diversity index and Simpson dominance index. Analysis of scoring was used to rate the friendliness of fishing gear on the environment. The main target of the catch composition (33.93%) and the by catch (66.07%) of the catch species diversity index was 2,16 to 2,78 (high diversity index; the selectivity of fishing gear is low). Dominance index was 0,36 to 0,50 (did not happen dominance species catches). The total value of the scoring is based on the criteria of degree of friendliness of fishing gear on the environment is the 26 included in the category of less environmentally friendly fishing gear. The catch is dominated by small fish. If it lasts for a long time and continuously, it can adversely affect the conservation of fish resources. It should be a mechanism for management systems such as open and close an area to fishing operations or modifications to fishing gear mechanism which can reduce the yield of bycatch and small ones.Keywords: composition, diversity, dominance and environmentally friendly, selectivity

Abstract

Endophytic fungi have roles to protect the plant from herbivorous insects and diseases, and to support the absorption process of nutrients needed by plants for photosynthesis. Related to the important role of endophytic fungi, research was aimed to identify fungal endophytes associated with young, mature and old leaves on apple and to evaluate the effect of leaf ages on the abundance and diversity of endophytic fungi. The research was conducted in Biological Control Laboratory, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya from May to September 2016. Apple leaves sampling was done diagonally, and taken from nine apple trees. Based on macroscopic and microscopic characteristics, 38 isolates were identified. In the old apple leaves, it obtained 17 isolates that consisted of 5 genera, mature leaves obtained 14 isolates consisted of 6 genera, and young leaves 7 isolates obtained consists of 2 genera. The mature leaves have highest abundance and diversity of endophytic fungi compared to young and old leaves. Endophytic fungi apple leaf dominated by Aspergillus. Mature and young leaves were different from old one based on Bray-Curtis similarity.

Abstract

In management of thrips on strawberry, farmers usually use synthetic insecticides. Synthetic insecticide is not effective to control thrips and produce residual effect on crops. Insecticidal residue is dangerous for human, natural enemies and environment widely. Therefore, it is necessary to find an alternative thrips pest control on strawberries, through integrated pest manage-ment (IPM) implementation. Research was aimed to determine the effect of IPM technology for Thrips sp. on strawberry plantation. Research was conducted on strawberry plantation by comparing IPM and conventional plots, in Kusuma Agrowisata Batu from April to July 2009. Variables were used such as the number of larvae, adult population and damage intensity caused by Thrips sp., and fruit production. Data was analyzed by t-test on 5%. The results showed that the average larva and adult population of Thrips sp. on IPM plot were higher than conventional plot, 1.12 and 0.50 for larva and 0.87 and 0.27 for adults respectively. The damage intensity of strawberry crops on IPM plot was higher than conventional plot, 11.69 and 5.98% respectively. Based on average fruit production, IPM plot was higher than conventional plot, 48.32 g and 39.24 g respectively.

Abstract

High ecosystem diversity can control pest populations. Rice is a staple food that continues to be researched for interesting things. Indonesia is ranked 3rd for production at the international level. The research was conducted through a survey of plants and paddy fields with conventional application in Kasembon Malang. Standard chemical fertilizer and pesticide application were used in this field. A total of 5 diagonally determined soil sample points were used in this study. The dilution method was carried out for the analysis of entomopathogenic fungi which were then tested using the Koch’s Postulate method on Tenebrio molitor, then observed the symptoms and mortality of Spodoptera litura during the pathogenicity test. The diversity value also demonstrated a medium diversity. We conclude that an application of pesticides and chemical fertilizer according to recommended practices, are not negatively affect the diversity of entomopathogenic fungi. Aspergillus sp and Penicilium sp can cause death against Spodoptera litura.

Abstract

Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) (Vuill.) (Deuteromycetes : Moniliaceae) adalah salahsatu jamur entomopatogenik. Pemberian asam cuka pada medium merupakankegiatan manipulasi pH untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan jamur. Tujuan daripenelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh asam cuka yaitu 0,5 ml, 1 ml, 1,5 ml, 2 ml, 2,5 ml/100 ml aquades dalam 20 gram medium beras jagung terhadap produksi konidia, daya kecambah, dan patogenisitas jamur B. bassiana. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) diulang sebanyak 4 kali dengan perlakuan konsentrasi asam cuka yaitu: 0 ml; 0,5 ml; 1 ml; 1,5 ml; 2 ml; 2,5 ml/100 ml aquades dalam 20 gram medium beras jagung. Uji patogenisitas menggunakan metode celup larva, inokulum B. bassiana yang digunakan berumur 21 hari dalam bentuk suspensi dengan konsentrasi 108 konidia/ml. Pengamatan kematian larva akibat terinfeksi B. bassiana dilakukan setiap 24 jam selama 20 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dosis asam cuka 2 ml/100 ml aquades dalam 20 gram medium beras jagung mampu meningkatkan produksi konidia hingga 83.91%, daya kecambah 38.19% dan patogenisitas jamur B. bassiana 23.12%.Kata kunci: Beauveria bassiana, asam cuka, produksi konidia, daya kecambah,patogenisitas

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan Pengelolaan Hama Terpadu (PHT) berbasis rekayasa ekologi terhadap populasi Wereng Batang Coklat (WBC) dan musuh alami WBC. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Dusun Pilang, Desa Tejoasri, Kecamatan Laren, Lamongan mulai  bulan Juni sampai September 2013. Dalam penelitian ini terdapat dua perlakuan yaitu PHT berbasis rekayasa ekologi (PHT-RE) dan PHT konvensional (PHT-K). Pada PHT-RE pematang ditanami tanaman wijen (Sesamum indicum), bunga matahari (Helianthus annuus), kenikir (Cosmos caudatus) serta terdapat penambahan Azolla. Kami menemukan bahwa perlakuan PHT-RE tidak secara nyata meningkatkan populasi musuh alami WBC yang ditunjukkan dengan jumlah spesies musuh alami pada perlakuan PHT-RE dan PHT-K adalah 199 ekor/petak dan 203 ekor/petak. Secara umum, dibandingkan dengan dengan PHT-K, PHT-RE tidak secara nyata menurunkan populasi WBC. Rata-rata  populasi WBC pada lahan PHT-RE dan PHT-K adalah 3,22 ekor/rumpun dan 2,99 ekor/rumpun. Abstract

Nematoda puru akar (Meloidogyne spp.) merupakan parasit penting dan banyak menyerang tanaman, sehingga menimbulkan kerugian karena terjadi penurunan produktivitasnya. Nematoda puru akar (Meloidogyne javanica) merupakan hama yang menyerang tanaman tembakau (Nicotiana tabaccum L.). Pengendalian nematoda puru akar dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai cara, salah satunya dengan penggunaan mikoriza (Glomus spp.). Mikoriza ialah suatu struktur yang khas yang mencerminkan adanya interaksi fungsional yang saling menguntungkan dengan tumbuhan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah mengetahui efektivitas mikoriza (Glomus spp.) untuk pengendalian M.javanica pada tanaman tembakau dan mengetahui dosis pupuk hayati mikoriza (Glomus spp.) yang efektif dalam pengendalian serangan nematoda puru akar M. javaniva pada tanaman tembakau (N. tabaccum).Hasil menunjukan bahwa penggunaan pupuk hayati mikoriza dapat mengendalikan serangan nematoda puru akar Meloidogyne sp. pada tanaman tembakau (N. tabaccum L.). Pengaplikasian 60 g pupuk hayati mikoriza pada tembakau (N. tabaccum L.) merupakan dosis yang paling efektif dalam mengendalikan serangan nematoda puru akar (Meloidogyne sp.). Pengaplikasian 100 g pupuk hayati mikoriza pada tembakau (N. tabaccum L.) merupakan dosis efektif untuk peningkatan produksi tembakau. Kata kunci: Tembakau, Nematoda Puru Akar, Mikoriza, Glomus spp.

Abstract

Jamur patogen serangga telah diisolasi dari filoplan tanaman tomat yang ditanam di ketinggian 635 dan 1095 m dpl. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui isolat jamur patogen serangga yang virulen terhadap Spodoptera litura. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Penyakit Tumbuhan, Jurusan Hama dan Penyakit Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Brawijaya Malang, pada 26 Januari 2015 hingga 5 Juni 2015. Isolasi jamur patogen serangga dengan menumbuhkan bagian filoplan tomat pada media Sabouraud Dextrose Agar Yeast (SDAY). Isolat jamur yang diperoleh diidentifikasi secara makroskopis dan mikroskopis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan isolat jamur yang diperoleh dari filoplan tanaman yang ditanam di ketinggian 1095 m dpl yaitu Lecanicillium sp., Aspergillus sp. (2 isolat), Fusarium sp. (3 isolat), Trichoderma sp. (2 isolat) dan Penicillium sp. Isolat jamur yang diperoleh dari filoplan tanaman yang ditanam di ketinggian 635 m dpl yaitu Aspergillus sp., Fusarium sp. (2 isolat), Trichoderma sp., Penicillium sp., Culvularia sp. (2 isolat). Jamur  Lecanicillium sp. memiliki virulensi tertinggi dibandingkan jamur Aspergillus sp., Fusarium sp., Trichoderma sp., dan Penicillium sp. Jamur Lecanicillium sp. sebagai jamur patogen serangga, sedangkan Aspergillus sp., Fusarium sp., Trichoderma sp., dan Penicillium sp. sebagai jamur oportunistik.

Abstract

Fusarium sp. merupakan jamur patogen tular tanah penyebab penyakit layu fusarium pada tanaman tomat, dimana kerugian yang ditimbulkan dapat mencapai 20-30%. Metode efektif untuk mengendalikan pathogen tanaman ini masih sulit ditemukan. Jamur patogen serangga merupakan agens hayati yang sudah banyak dimanfaatkan untuk mengendalikan serangga hama. Namun penelitian terkini membuktikan bahwa jamur ini juga berpotensi untuk mengendalikan patogen tanaman, terutama yang disebabkan oleh patogen tular tanah. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk membandingkan daya antagonis tiga jamur patogen serangga yaitu B. bassiana, M. anisopliae dan L. lecanii terhadap Fusarium sp. secara in vitro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa L. lecanii memiliki daya hambat tertinggi terhadap pertumbuhan miselium Fusarium sp. sebesar 65,1%, dengan membentuk mekanisme kompetisi, sedangkan B. bassiana dan M. anisopliae memiliki daya hambat yang sama terhadap pertumbuhan miselium Fusarium sp., masing-masing sebesar 43,87% dan 43,06% dengan membentuk mekanisme antibiosis.
