Abstract

This research aims to develop a Geographic Information System (GIS) using the PartitioningAround Medoids (PAM) method in mapping dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases in North SumatraProvince. DHF has symptoms of high fever, bleeding, and a high mortality rate if not treated quickly. Therefore, mapping DHF cases is very important in efforts to tackle and prevent this disease. The PAMmethod was used in this study to cluster the DHF case data based on similar characteristics. The firstcluster consists of 18 districts/municipalities is a low cluster, the second cluster consists of 3districts/municipalities is a high cluster, and the third cluster consists of 3 districts/municipalities is amedium cluster. The implementation of PAM is done by using the Minkwoski distance calculation methodwhere the application of the distance will be tested with the Silhouette Index on several numbers of clusters. The best number of clusters for PAM implementation is 3 clusters with a Silhouette Index value of 0.5275.

Abstract

Fixed free beam is one of the components that are most often used as raw materials for furnitureand building construction. The use of wooden beams is inseparable from several important issues that mustbe taken into account, including stiffness, strength, stability, and flexibility. The problem of free vibrationthat occurs in wooden beams must also be taken into account. All systems that have mass and elasticity canexperience free vibrations or vibrations that occur without external stimulation. This free vibration occurswhen the system on the object oscillates due to the work of the forces that exist in the system itself (inherent). The free vibration of the wooden beams must be overcome by damping, so that it does not seriously affectthe structure of the strength, stability, and flexibility of the wooden beams. Damping can be done by lookingfor free vibration points or vibration mode shapes on fixed free beams. One approach that can be used tofind the mode shapes is a numerical approach using the Reyleigh-Ritz method. The methodology used isthe development of a python script to find free vibration modes on the beam. In this article, the beam with a length of 0.5 meters and a thickness of 2.25 × 10^−4 meters is selected as a simulation model.

Abstract

Abstrac As a maritime country, Indonesia has considerable fisheries resource potential, including in North Sumatra. However, less than optimal management causes a gap between the demand and supply of cultivated fish in this region. This research aims to analyze the use of the Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) method in classifying aquaculture production in North Sumatra based on Regency/City and primary commodities. This research also compares three methods of measuring Euclidean, Manhattan, and Chebyshev distances to determine the best method for data clustering. The North Sumatra Central Statistics Agency (BPS) data for 2018-2022. The results showed that there were two clusters, namely cluster 1 consisting of 4 districts with high fisheries production and cluster 2 consisting of 29 districts with low fisheries production. Evaluation using the Modified Partition Coefficient shows that the Manhattan distance method has the highest MPC value of 0.922. These results indicate that of the three distance methods, the Manhattan method is the best for applying Fuzzy C-Means to classify aquaculture production in North Sumatra.
