Abstract

Employee performance can measure the amount of contribution given by employees to the company. In an organization or company, poor communication flow can play an important role in decreasing employee performance. The purpose of this study was to examine how communication flow affects the performance of Rocky Plaza Hotel Padang employees. The research method used was a quantitative method with a population of 130 Rocky Plaza Hotel Padang employees. Based on the hypothesis test, the following results were obtained; first, downward vertical communication (X1) has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (Y). Second, upward vertical communication flow (X2) has a positive but insignificant effect on employee performance (Y), horizontal communication (X3) has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (Y), diagonal communication (X4) has a positive but insignificant effect on employee performance (Y). Overall, a p-value of 0.000 <0.05 was obtained, so Ho was rejected, it was concluded that all organizational communication flows simultaneously affect the performance of Rocky Plaza Hotel Padang employees. It is hoped that further researchers can conduct research with more detailed analysis, broader studies using variables that cover all aspects. Also, the company is expected to be able to improve organizational communication, create a more transparent and organized communication system to overcome employee difficulties in communicating. Kinerja karyawan dapat mengukur besaran kontribusi yang diberikan karyawan terhadap perusahaan. Dalam sebuah organisasi atau perusahaan alur komunikasi yang buruk dapat berperan penting dalam penurunan kinerja karyawan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengkaji bagaimana aliran komunikasi mempengaruh kinerja karyawan Rocky Plaza Hotel Padang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode kuantitatif dengan populasi 130 karyawan Rocky Plaza Hotel Padang. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis, didapatkan hasil sebagai berikut; pertama, komunikasi vertikal ke bawah (X1) memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan (Y). Kedua, aliran komunikasi vertikal ke atas (X2) memiliki pengaruh yang positif namun tidak signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan (Y), komunikasi horizontal (X3) memiliki pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan (Y), komunikasi diagonal (X4) memiliki pengaruh yang positif namun tidak signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan (Y). Secara keseluruhan diperoleh nilai p-value 0,000<0,05 maka Ho ditolak, disimpulkan bahwa seluruh aliran komunikasi organisasi berpengaruh secara simultan terhadap kinerja karyawan Rocky Plaza Hotel Padang. Diharapkan peneliti selanjutnya dapat melakukan penelitian dengan analisis yang lebih rinci, studi yang lebih luas dengan penggunaan variabel yang mencakup keseluruhan aspek. Serta, perusahaan diharapkan mampu meningkatkan komunikasi organisasi, membuat sistem komunikasi yang lebih transparan dan terorganisir untuk mengatasi kesulitan karyawan dalam berkomunikasi.

Abstract

This study discusses the communication role of health workers in health promotion programs at Puskesmas Gegesik, Cirebon. Health workers have dual roles as nurses and health promoters, which are sometimes less effective in achieving program targets. Awareness of the need for specialized public health experts for targeted health promotion programs is the focus of this study. This qualitative research used interviews, observation, and documentation to determine health workers' communication strategies. The results showed that health workers at Puskesmas Gegesik have implemented effective communication strategies, such as recognizing targets, choosing media, determining message objectives, and understanding their role as communicators. This significantly improves public health efforts and achieves health promotion program targets.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interpersonal communication between single fathers and their children, focusing on three key aspects: openness, empathy, and support. The research seeks to identify the opportunities and challenges that arise in this relationship, particularly in fostering effective communication. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation of single fathers and their children. The analysis was conducted inductively to comprehend the communication patterns and emotional dynamics involved. The findings reveal that openness in communication is characterized by informal conversations and the sharing of daily experiences. However, obstacles often emerge due to a lack of emotional closeness or the presence of a new marriage by the father. Empathy plays a crucial role in creating strong emotional bonds, where fathers strive to understand their children's emotions, offer advice, and foster a positive atmosphere. Supportive behavior is evident through the emotional backing provided by the father, which includes freedom of expression and involvement in decision-making processes. The study concludes that openness, empathy, support, positive attitudes, and equality are the five key elements in the interpersonal communication between single fathers and their children. Each element plays a significant role in building a healthy and harmonious relationship, where openness enhances trust, empathy strengthens emotional bonds, supportive behavior fosters a sense of security, positive attitudes create an optimistic environment, and equality increases children's participation in family decision-making.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of horizontal communication and organizational culture on employee performance at Rocky Plaza Hotel Padang. In the hospitality industry, effective communication among employees and a supportive organizational culture are crucial to improving employee performance, which in turn affects service quality and guest satisfaction. This research uses a quantitative approach with a sample of 100 employees, selected through stratified random sampling. Data was collected via questionnaires and analyzed using linear regression and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that both horizontal communication (X1) and organizational culture (X2) have a positive and significant effect on employee performance (Y), with p-values of 0.000 for each, which is less than 0.05. These findings suggest that smooth communication among employees and the implementation of a supportive organizational culture can enhance both individual and overall organizational performance. The practical implication of this study is the importance of strengthening internal communication and fostering a positive organizational culture to improve productivity and service quality in the hospitality sector.

Abstract

This study examines the role of inclusive persuasive communication in influencing mindsets, viewpoints, and attitudes to improve. The high prevalence of mental health disorders dominated by Generation Z is caused by an environment full of stigma and discrimination. This research uses qualitative methods by referring to Hovland's Persuasive Communication to influence, change, and regulate the attitudes and behaviours of people with stigma. Inclusive Persuasive Strategy, chosen to find out how to design effective messages that are able to evoke emotions, empathy, and motivation for positive change based on Aristotle's Rhetoric to package information according to aspects that facilitate persuasion. Communication Accommodation Theory was chosen to look at the situations and conditions of individuals with mental health disorders when making adjustments as part of their efforts to deal with unfavourable situations. The results showed that individuals with mental health disorders focus on consuming information that is clear and relevant to their needs as a means of validating their feelings, emotions and conditions. When there is relevance to the individual's needs at that time, changes in attitude and behaviours will certainly occur. In accordance with the strategy and form of an inclusive approach, patterns of behaviours and emotional changes that occur need to be channelled and validated, where channelling and validating these emotions is characterized by recognition of the diversity of experiences and feelings.

Abstract

The phenomenon of insecurity is an issue that is often faced by today's teenagers, characterized by feelings of dissatisfaction with themselves and fear of the surrounding environment. The purpose of this study is to find out the role of family communication in adolescents who experience insecurity in the city of Bandung. This research uses a qualitative approach (Kriyantono, 2012), which investigates social phenomena that occur in humans. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between feelings of insecurity and decision-making in late adolescence. Adolescents who experience insecurity tend to be hesitant in making their own decisions and often seek validation from others. This study emphasizes the importance of the role of communication in the family, especially democratic communication patterns, which have been proven to help adolescents overcome feelings of insecurity. The three main dimensions that contribute to feelings of insecurity in adolescents are failure or rejection, social anxiety, and the drive for perfectionism. The experience of failure or rejection causes adolescents to feel inferior and incapable in various aspects, which if it happens constantly, can increase feelings of insecurity. It can be concluded that family communication with a good pattern can help adolescents who feel insecure.

Abstract

This study focuses on looking at the cultural dimension, promoting and spreading joy, and creating mental health in urban communities. The specific aim is that if mental health problems and stress are not handled properly, it can have a bad impact, especially when seen in urban communities, which are very busy and have very complex problems, and one of the things that is done to strengthen this is by holding social gathering activities. In the cultural dimension, of course, this is very interesting, as seen from the activities in urban areas carried out by mothers who provide and promote mental health in urban communities. This research is qualitative, carried out through observations and interviews with 18 informants. The results of this research found that the practice of social gathering is one of the solutions and interventions for maternal mental health in urban areas, and urban mothers can improve their quality of life. The meetings held provided solutions for their lives and improved their quality of life. This research contributes to the development of knowledge in the realm of health anthropology regarding the strategies and solutions used by mothers in urban areas to achieve good mental health.

Abstract

This research explores the environmental impact of baby formula production and its influence on breastfeeding rates, particularly in Asia. It highlights the role of the Breastfeeding Mother Community on Facebook in raising awareness among mothers, despite a lack of content on the environmental drawbacks of formula milk. The study aims to assess community members’ knowledge of these impacts and its effect on their behavior. Using the TPB theory, it investigates the link between environmental knowledge and perceived behavioral control. The research uses a quantitative approach, using questionnaires, with a sample of 400 respondents from the community. This research employs various data analysis techniques, including descriptive analysis, normality test, simple linear regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and the coefficient of determination test. The findings reveal that the knowledge of the Breastfeeding Mother Community members on Facebook about the environmental impact of formula milk production influences their perceived behavioral control by 28.2%. The remaining percentage is influenced by variables not covered in this research. However, the results indicate no significant influence, as evidenced by the calculated T value being greater than the T table (-4.742 1.965), leading to the rejection of H1 and acceptance of H0.

Abstract

Komunikasi pemasaran memainkan peran penting dalam mempengaruhi perilaku konsumen, terutama melalui mediaiklan yang efektif. Iklan Tolak Angin Cair melalui televisi, sebagai bagian dari strategi pemasaran, bertujuan untukmemotivasi konsumen menggunakan produk dengan menekankan pada dimensi emosi, kepercayaan, informasi, danajakan. Dengan peralihan konsumsi media dari televisi analog ke digital di Bandung, terutama di kalangan audiensberusia 20 hingga lebih dari 50 tahun, penelitian ini menyoroti relevansi iklan dalam memengaruhi perilaku konsumen.Berdasarkan teori komunikasi pemasaran dan konsep AIDA Model, yang berfokus pada bagaimana pesandisampaikan untuk memengaruhi perilaku konsumen, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif denganpengumpulan data melalui kuesioner yang melibatkan 400 responden. Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi RankSpearman dan uji hipotesis menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara dimensi iklan dan motivasikonsumen, dengan koefisien korelasi (rs) sebesar 0,799 (p < 0,001). Dimensi emosi memiliki kontribusi terbesar dalammemotivasi konsumen, diikuti oleh kepercayaan, informasi, dan ajakan. Hasil ini mengonfirmasi bahwa iklan yangmenyentuh aspek emosional memiliki dampak terbesar terhadap keputusan konsumen untuk menggunakan produk.Temuan ini memberikan implikasi praktis bagi strategi pemasaran Tolak Angin, yang disarankan untuk lebihmengoptimalkan elemen emosional dalam kampanye iklannya.Kata Kunci: Iklan, Tolak Angin, Motivasi Konsumen, Komunikasi Pemasaran.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between attitudes toward mental health and the intention to seek professional psychological support among Generation Z, with Instagram evaluated as a potential mediating variable. Drawing on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), this research applies a quantitative, descriptive-correlational design involving 98 Indonesian respondents aged 15–24. The study employs Pearson correlation, validity and reliability tests, and mediation analysis using the Sobel test. Results reveal statistically significant positive relationships between attitude and intention (r = 0.442, p < 0.01), attitude and Instagram usage (r = 0.373, p < 0.01), and Instagram usage and intention (r = 0.436, p < 0.01). However, mediation analysis indicates that Instagram does not significantly mediate the relationship between attitude and intention (Z = 0.0734, p > 0.05). While Instagram is widely used by Generation Z for mental health-related content, this study finds that personal attitudes are more influential than platform engagement in shaping help-seeking intentions. The findings highlight the importance of enhancing mental health literacy and reducing stigma through both attitudinal and community-based interventions, with social media serving as a supportive—though not determining—channel. Future research should explore additional mediating factors such as social support, cultural norms, and mental health literacy across various digital platforms.
