Abstract

Background: The work pattern that occurs during the pandemic is working from home (Work from Home). Before the pandemic, breastfeeding mothers who worked normatively had the right to leave for three months. This regulation often becomes an obstacle for breastfeeding mothers who work to practice exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months using Direct Breast-Feeding (DBF). Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of WFH on the implementation of exclusive breastfeeding with DBF in working mothers. Methods: The research design is a retrospective case control. The subject category was divided into two treatments: full WFH mothers and partial WFH mothers. The subject treatment groups were divided based on the method of breastfeeding: direct breastfeeding (DBF) and mixed feeding (MF). The subjects of this study were 27 working mothers, 20 mothers as cases, and 7 mothers as controls which were determined purposively. Results: The difference test between the DBF breastfeeding method during the exclusive breastfeeding period and the WFH treatment showed a significant difference (p=0.000) between the partial WFH treatment and the choice of the exclusive breastfeeding method for DBF in infants. On the other hand, there was no significant difference (p=0.083) between the full WFH treatment and the choice of exclusive breastfeeding method for DBF in infants. The difference test between the WFH partial treatment and the DBF breastfeeding method during the exclusive breastfeeding period showed a significant difference (p=0.030). The difference test between the full WFH treatment and the DBF breastfeeding method during the exclusive breastfeeding period showed a significant difference (p=0.005). The mixed feeding method also showed that there were differences (p=0.000) in working mothers who were fully WFH. Conclusions: Full WFH affects the success of exclusive breastfeeding with the DBF method. Full WFH during the Covid-19 pandemic in breastfeeding mothers proved effective for implementing the practice of exclusive breastfeeding using the DBF method.

Abstract

Background: Food intake, exclusive breastfeeding, and nutritional adequacy can affect normal nutritional status in children, especially during the first 1000 days of life. Objectives: Analyzing the effect of the exclusive breastfeeding method on the nutritional status of infants in Work From Home (WFH) working mothers Methods: The study was conducted quantitatively descriptively with a cross-sectional study design. Research respondents were selected mothers during the Covid-19 pandemic (PSBB or PPKM levels 3-4, namely from April 2020 to October 2021) who provided exclusive breastfeeding, and respondents worked under the WFH scheme. Respondents totaled 27 people who were divided into direct-breastfeeding (DBF) and mixed-feeding (MF) groups. Respondents have selected purposively sampling. meetings online namely by using platforms, namely Whatsapp and Zoom. Results: Significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding methods with a weight-for-height z score (WHZ) (P = 0.031; R = -0.417) and a bmi-for-age z score (BAZ) (P = 0.044; R = -0.391), In addition, a significant difference was found between the mean of the DBF and MF groups on the WHZ (P=0.031) and WHZ (P=0.044) with the mean nutritional status of MF on the BB/TB or BB/PB index of 0.490. ± 0.970SD (at risk of overweight). Conclusions: Exclusive breastfeeding method has a significant relationship with normal baby weight. In addition, there are significant differences in the nutritional status of infants between the DBF and MF breastfeeding methods. babies with the MF method tend to be at risk of more nutrition. Mothers who work WFH are expected to maximize exclusive breastfeeding for babies, especially with the DBF breastfeeding method. In addition, the researchers hope that this research can serve as an advocate for the draft government regulation regarding 6 months of maternity leave to maximize exclusive breastfeeding for babies.

Abstract

Background: Every one in six people in the world is an adolescent, and as many as 85% of adolescents live in developed countries, which often experience menstrual disorders such as primary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain in the absence of pathological conditions in the pelvis that often occurs at a young/adolescent age triggered by various factors such as nutritional status, diet, exercise habits, and stress. Objectives: To analyze the association between nutritional status (BMI-for-age), junk food consumption, and exercise habits of adolescent girls in Jakarta with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design, the population of this study was all grade 11 students in Jakarta (East Jakarta, South Jakarta, West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta). The method of obtaining samples used was purposive sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire regarding nutritional status, exercise habits and junk food consumption patterns assessed using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) through Google Forms. Results: The results showed a significant relationship between nutritional status (p = 0.022), junk food consumption (p = 0.000), and exercise habits (p = 0.000) with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea. Conclusions: There was a correlation between nutritional status, junk food consumption, and exercise habits on the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls in Jakarta. Further research is needed on the relationship between nutritional status, junk food consumption and exercise habits with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea in other age groups, and with different methods to expand knowledge related to factors that cause primary dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Background: The trend of using food delivery applications is currently popular with students because it makes it easier for them to get food. However, this can cause negative impacts such as changes in the variety, frequency, and amount of food consumed, thereby risking increasing the prevalence of obesity. Objectives: This research aims to analyze the relationship between the use of food delivery applications, consisting of the frequency of use and the type of food/drink purchased, and the risk of obesity among students in the Jabodetabek area. Methods: The research used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 73 students in the Jabodetabek area. A purposive sampling technique was employed. Data was collected through an online questionnaire containing respondent characteristics, application use, Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), and risk of obesity. Results: The food delivery application most frequently used by students was GoFood (42.5%). The majority of students used food delivery applications 1 – 3 times/week (94.5%). Meanwhile, coffee (27.4%) was the type of food/drink most often purchased through the application by students. Tests of the relationship between types of food/drinks and the risk of obesity showed several significant results, including fried chicken (p=0.03), baso aci (p=0.036), ice cream (p=0.018), and coffee (p=0.004). However, the test of the relationship between domicile and pocket money and the type of application used showed that the results were not significant with p=0.399 and p=0.163 respectively. The frequency of use of food delivery applications on the risk of obesity also did not show significant results (p=0.206). Conclusions: Several types of food/drinks were related to the risk of obesity. Student residence and pocket money were not related to the type of application used, and the frequency of use of food delivery applications was also not related to the risk of obesity.

Abstract

Background: The prevalence of obesity among adolescents in Indonesia continues to rise and has become a serious health concern due to its negative effects on both physical and psychosocial well-being. One contributing factor is the lack of early education on the principles of balanced nutrition. Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational media Balanced Nutrition Puzzle for Obesity Prevention Education (GESIT) in improving early adolescents' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to obesity prevention. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental, one-group pre-test-post-test design. A total of 63 fourth- and fifth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Roudlatul Jannah were selected using purposive sampling. The educational medium used was the GESIT puzzle, which was validated by two experts: a content (material) expert and a media expert. The intervention consisted of two educational sessions using the GESIT puzzle, followed by students' independent practice for 5 days. The feasibility test results showed scores of 87.5% from the content expert and 85% from the media expert. Results: The study found increases in the proportions of participants in the high category for knowledge from 0% to 63.5%, attitudes from 55.6% to 81.0%, and behavior from 34.9% to 73.0% after the intervention. Improvements in knowledge, attitudes, and behavior were statistically significant (p-value<0.001). Conclusions: Thus, it can be concluded that the GESIT puzzle media is effective in improving early adolescents' knowledge, attitudes, and behavior.
