Abstract

Abstract

The research aimed to apply SIMODAS in order to predict the flood hydrograph in Keyang sub-sub watershed used for Strategic Environmental Assessment was instrument used for urban planning at Ponorogo district. The method used is data analysis. The data requirement covers spatial and atribut data. The spatial data were digital map of topography, river network, soil types and land use. The land use digital map covers the map of existing condition and the map of spatial planning Ponorogo district. While, the atribute data were daily rainfall. The simulation by using SIMODAS aimed to compare the existed flood hydrograph curve and the change of flood hydrograph curve caused by the change of landuse. The expected benefit is that it can help predict the flood hydrograph, so the government of Ponorogo be more leverage to prevent floods. The result showed that the flood hydrograph of existing condition for the 10, 25, and 50 year repeated period describe the flood peak discharge 1672.94 m3/second, 2030.876 m3/second, and 2255.146 m3/second. While, the at time needed to reach the flood peak discharge were 101 minutes, 99 minutes, and 98 minutes. The change of land use can cause the flood peak discharge becomes 1727.457 m3/second, 2085.384 m3/second, and 2317.951 m3/second for the 10, 25, and 50 year repeated period. This also cause the flood peak time to become 99 minutes, 96 minutes, and 93 minutes. Keywords: flood hydrograph, SIMODAS, environmental assessment, ponorogo

Abstract

Watershed management includes the identification of linkages between land use, soil, and water; between the upstream and downstream area; and a system in the hydrology which consists of the system input and system output. The system output from one river basin system is the flood discharge river which is the integrator that influenced by catchment area. River flood discharge is affected by wheather Watershed acts as a regulator of the process especially in terms of hydrology.  Hydrograph form, in general, is strongly influenced by the nature of the rainfall, the length of the main stream slope, the direction and shape of the watershed.  Research was conducted in Sabu Island, Nusa Tenggara Timur. The method used was the spatial analysis and flood hydrographs. Data processing was done by displaying spatial data in Arc View to perform the cutting process Daieko watershed, Ladeke and Rainkore. Then, it was processed in data Elevetion Model (DEM) of each watershed by Arc View.  The results showed that Ladeke Watershed is the most potential to flooding from the Daieko and Rainkore with the flood peak was always high. Form of bird feathers watershed flood peak discharge value was small with relative long time. Form a broad basin with a river pattern of spread (radial) tended to produce values of flood peak discharge. Radial form of the most sensitive watersheds and smallest form parallel to the change of land was due to increasing flood discharge. Keywords: shape of watershed, the hydrograph, SIMODAS

Abstract

A set of computer program and algorithm for an automatic determination of drainage network and River Basin Area (RBA) by means of a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is  presented. The algorithms execute such tasks as DEM aggregation, identify and treatment of depression, increase of flat area relief; determination of current direction; determination of boundary of RBA and Sub-RBA, determination of River Basin Upstream Area and evaluation of drainage network composition. A computer program was made using a software, known as the Visual Basic.  The aims of the development of the computer program and algoritms were to quickly determine the properties value of current direction drainage network and Sub-RBA based on the available DEM which may be further used in the development of water run-off models, RBA discrete, or used for statistical analysis as well as to evaluate the topology of drainage network. Result obtained from DEM evaluation were then selected and presented. Such an approach may be applicable for studying hydrology and geomorphology.   Key Words: drainage network, river basin area, digital elevation model

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to determine the rate of sedimentation in the primary, secondary, and tertiary channel; to determine channel dimension changes caused by sediment, and the effect of sedimentation to determine the cross section channel’s specific energy. This research consisted of two stages. First stage was data collection i.e. sediment sampling, measurement of flow velocity, and measurement of channel dimensions. Second stage was laboratory analysis. Each stage was replicated three times in 2-week intervals. Sediment sampling was done directly on the primary, secondary, and tertiary irrigation channel networks. Sedimentation rate in primary irrigation channel at dry season was 54.99x10-6 tons/day, while at the secondary was 0.88x10-6 tons/day, and at the tertiary was 0.65x10-6 tons/day. Primary channel with channel cross sectional area of 56.734 m2 reduced into 46.541 m2 due to 10.913 m2 area sedimentation. Secondary channel with channel cross sectional area of 3.086 m2 reduced into 2.732 m2 due to 0.354 m2 area of sedimentation. At tertiary channels with channel cross-sectional area of 1.398 m2 reduced into 1.341 m2 due to 0.057 m2 area sedimentation. The rate of sedimentation in the irrigation channel caused changes in the performance of the channel, namely the primary channel; the channel only worked for 76.93%, the secondary channel was 94.2%, and 91.47% in tertiary canals.
