Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the sustainability of hydroponic farming in Kendari City. The research sample consists of the entire population of hydroponic farmers in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, totaling 30 people (sampling method: census). The data analysis in this study utilizes descriptive statistics. Descriptive statistics are employed to delineate and characterize the state of the research variables. The results of the study indicate that the sustainability of hydroponic farming in Kendari City is in the moderate category. Hydroponic farming in Kendari has demonstrated its capacity for sustainability from economic, social, and ecological perspectives. Nevertheless, there is room for enhancement in terms of sustainability from economic and ecological standpoints. From economic and ecological standpoints, sustainability is classified as moderate. Concurrently, sustainability from a social perspective is classified as high priority.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze and describe participatory extension services in food crop agricultural extension services in Konawe Regency. The research was conducted from September to December of 2023. The research location was purposefully selected in Konawe Regency. The population under consideration consisted of all 113 agricultural extension workers (extension workers specializing in food crops) and civil servants (ASN) in Konawe Regency. The sample was selected through a census (saturated sampling). The present study employed descriptive statistical analysis, utilizing the class interval formula. The participatory extension services variables in this study are described in three categories: (1) low/insufficient; (2) moderate/sufficient; and (3) high/good. The findings suggest that the implementation of participatory extension services in Konawe Regency falls within the moderate category. Food crop extension workers in Konawe Regency have effectively implemented participatory extension indicators; however, improvements are necessary to achieve a high category.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the capacity of farmers' resources in managing hydroponic farming in Kendari City. The population of this study consists of all hydroponic farmers in Kendari City, with a total sample size of 30 individuals, who were selected using a census method. The data analysis in this study utilizes descriptive statistics. Descriptive statistics are employed to delineate and characterize the state of the research variables. The results of the study indicate that the capacity of hydroponic farmers in Kendari City is in the moderate category. Hydroponic farmers in Kendari possess the necessary managerial, technical, and social competencies to effectively manage and develop hydroponic farming. The managerial and technical capacities of hydroponic farmers in Kendari City are categorized as moderate. The social capacity of hydroponic farmers in Kendari City is categorized as high.
