Abstract

This research aims to explain the reason of People’s Republic of China (PRC) in developing anti-satellite (ASAT) using qualitative research method. In 2007, PRC succeeded in ASAT trial by destroying their old weather satellite, Fengyun-1C. PRC in its foreign politics strategy stated that PRC would contribute to create the world peace. Their statement was in contrast with ASAT launching. The launching of ASAT inflicts protests of other states, especially United States. Each of them has super power both in economic and military. PRC is known as the economic based-state, while at the other side also giving their attention towards the military. This research uses defensive neo-realism, and space control as the framework. This research found that, the main reason for PRC developing their ASAT is caused by the US’ attempt to dominate the space and also attempt to dominate full spectrum. Keywords: China, anti-satellite (ASAT), Defensive Neo-realism, Space Control

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the causes of the failure of the Government of Afghanistan in eliminating honor killings in Afghanistan. This research uses qualitative methods with literature study and secondary data. Honor killings are killings of women for sake of honor whose actions are planned and the execution involves family members. The Afghan government failed to eliminate the honor killing case because after Afghanistan ratified CEDAW in 2003 and passed the 2009 EVAW law relating to the elimination of all forms of discrimination for women, cases continue to increase. Therefore, the author uses the framework of radical feminism and cultural violence to answer the causes of Afghanistan's failure to eliminate honor killings in Afghanistan. This research then found the answer that Afghanistan failed in eliminating honor killings because it was caused by the existence of patriarchy (male domination influenced by the Taliban) and cultural violence in Afghanistan. Keywords: Afghanistan, Cultural Violence, Honor killing, Radical Feminism.
