Abstract

84% of adolescents aged 12-17 years in Indonesia have not received sex education. Where the lack of information on reproductive health and sexuality is one of the reasons child marriage continues to occur. The “Dua Garis Biru” Film trying to explain the importance of sex education for the young generation. This film has been watched by more than 2.5 million viewers, although since the teaser was released, it became controversial because of the theme considered taboo in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to explain how the exposure of the “Dua Garis Biru” film affects adolescent attitude about early marriage. This research was conducted using explanatory quantitative research methods with Uses and Effects theory. The data analysis was carried out by simple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the “Dua Garis Biru” film exposure could affect the adolescent attitude about early marriage. Abstract

President Joko Widodo is a political communicator who uses vlog content to communicate with the millennial generation. As a source or communicator in the digital era, having good credibility in building effective communication through the media is very important. The purpose of this study is to find out Joko Widodo's credibility in the #JKWVlog Vlog in the Millennial Generation of Denpasar City. This research uses the descriptive quantitative method and was analysied with the theory of Source Credibility by Hovland, Janis, and Kelley (1953). The results showed that Joko Widodo's credibility as seen in the #JKWVlog vlog was categorized good because the millennial generation had a good assessment of expertise and attractiveness, as well as high trust in Joko Widodo as a political communicator. Abstract

In the context of marketing, advertising is the spearhead in supporting the marketing success of a product and service. Through images or ideas that have been created, advertisement are expected to be able to persuade consumers to consume the product and service that have been advertised. In the case of binding to the public’s attractiveness, the female figure is often used as a symbol to display the visual form of the audience. The representation of female beauty that the marketing have made generaly establish a standard of certain beauty such as tall, have a white skin and straight hair. But now, advertising has also undergone a change as in the Pond’s Perfecting Cream Ft. Maudy Ayunda advertisement. Through qualitative research with Charles Sander Peirce’s semiotic analysis method, the results obtained that representations of female beauy can not be judged by one standard of beauty, but it is diverse. Abstract

A person's credibility affects the communicant to make a product decision. The use of beauty vloggers is easier to influence consumers' psychology because they are individuals who are popular with society. One of the well-known beauty vloggers in Indonesia and has the highest number of subscribers is named Tasya Farasya. Tasya Farasya collaborated with Focallure in creating products by releasing the eyeshadow pallete "THE NEEDS" FOCALLURE X TASYA FARASYA. The purpose1of this study was to explain the.effect.of Tasya Farasya's.credibility. on purchase intention of Focallure products among adolescents in Denpasar City. . The results showed that Tasya Fasrasya's credibility had a positive influence on the purchase intention of focallure products among adolescents in Denpasar City with a value of 0.536 which was classified as moderate with an influence level of 75% with a sample size of 170 respondents. Abstract

Women and beauty are two things that are interrelated. The way each women looks for the meaning of their beauty are different. The mass media1 plays the important1 role in the process of defining women about beauty. Women’s beauty can support their physical appearance and they have their own way of finding the meaning of beauty according to them. The advertisement of Make Over Beauty Beyond Rules: Art Collaboration present to convey that beauty has no rules or standards that must be fulfilled and women must be dare to express themselves and be confident because beauty has no limits. This study was analyzed1 by using qualitative approach with descriptive research method and using Charles Sanders Peirce’s1 semiotic1 theory. The result of this study showed that beauty has no rules that must be fulfilled and as a woman, you must have the courage to express yourself and know your inner values. Abstract

Objectivity at news has become significant point in Presidential Election 2019. The voters should be smart at choosing one of the candidates due to the influence of media which provide news about the election.1Detikcom became the fifth most popular media in Indonesia according to ranking site, Alexa.com. Quantitative content analysis with descriptive approach was conducted within this study in order to recognize the objectivity of media while posting the news. In addition, it was conducted by analysing news about Presidential Election 2019 in1Detikcom. Thestheory applied within this study was the theory of objectivity by1Westersthal which consists of four indicators (truth, relevance, balance, and neutral presentation), and twelve samples of news were examined. The result shows that the news about Presidential Election 2019 on the news portal of Detikcom meets the four indicators of news objectivity, factuality (factual, accurate, complete, and relevant) and impartiality (non-evaluative and non-sensational). Abstract

Gender injustice occurs because of the values ??about gender that have been deeply embedded inssociety. The mass mediapplays anaimportant roleein this process. How the media presents women is used as a reference to see and "judge" women. The novel "Kenanga" by Oka Rusmini is a fictional writing with the theme of Balinese women. In this novel, Balinese women are portrayed through two sides, namely in custom and also as a modern individual. This study aims to explain the representation of women in the novel "Kenanga”. This study uses a qualitative approach with critical discourse analysis method of Sara Mills. The results of this study indicate that amidst the strong culture of patriarchy in Bali, the figure of Balinese women is represented as an independent individual who is strong and has control over her own life. With this representation of women, the novel "Kenanga" by Oka Rusmini breaks the stereotype of women as weak and passive. Abstract

The main purpose of Facebook leads to how to keep in touch with people around and establish communication without boundaries of space, distance and time. This function is utilized by one Facebook account, namely Nas Daily by raising interesting issues in the form of videos. One of them is a video in the episode “How this Country is Fixing Religion” talking about religious tolerance in the United Arab Emirates. The purpose of this study is to explain how the representation of religious tolerance in the United Arab Emirates in the researched video. This study uses Roland Barthes' semiotics by examining the elements of denotation, connotation and myth through ai qualitativei iapproach. iThe iresults of ithis istudy ishow ihow ithe representation of religious tolerance is realized through the attitudes and actions represented by the United Arab Emirates in the Nas Daily video. Abstract

Information regarding the implementation of the New Normal Era during the Covid-19 pandemic announced by President Joko Widodo has brought pros and cons. Tempo newspaper as a mass media raised the issue in the form of a caricature illustration on the front cover of Tempo newspaper on 27 May 2020. The purpose of this study is to explain the representation of the implementation of the New Normal Era in Tempo newspaper on 27 May 2020. This research was conducted using the method interviews and semiotic analysis proposed by Charles Sanders Pierce with qualitative research types and constructivist paradigms. The results of this study, Koran Tempo represents the application of the New Normal Era in the caricature illustration of the competition arena. there is a meaning contained in each caricature illustration, based on this Tempo has displayed the function of caricatures as a medium for delivering messages. Abstract

Korean drama is one of the dramas on television that uses the Korean language, Korean dramas themselves are produced in South Korea with a miniseries format (16-20 episodes) with distinctive features that distinguish them from other series. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of exposure to Korean dramas on the use of Korean in adolescents in Denpasar City. This study uses a quantitative research method in the form of an explanatory which has a casual nature. In this study also data collection using online questionnaire techniques via google form by taking 100 respondents. The results of this study are also positive, which means that the relationship between the two variables is unidirectional, which means that when exposure to Korean drama increases, the use of Korean in adolescents in Denpasar City is also getting better.
