Abstract

ABSTRACT Pecalang represent the traditional security group owning fundamental duty to take care of the security and fluency of ritual and custom in region. Generally pecalang using black clothes completely, udeng (fastener lead the), black and white colour cloth (poleng), and bring the keris assumed dreadful, making Bali society shy at to deal by pecalang. This phenomenon use interactionalism symbolic theory from George Herbert Ad studying to hit how one can have interaction with the others do not only use the communications verbal but also with the communications non verbal, example by using symbol. Abstract

Abstract This research discusses roles and challenges encountered by the activists of Yayasan Gaya Dewata (Gaya Dewata Foundation) in their efforts to prevent HIV infection and AIDS among gays and transgenders in Bali. This research applies qualitative approach to examine the actions conducted by the activists in three regions of Bali Province: Denpasar City, Badung Regency, and Gianyar Regency. The actions include field and cyber outreach, interactive group discussion, HIV counseling and testing, condom and lubricant distribution to gays and transgenders; and social support for people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHA). This research applies social action and simbolic interactionism theory to analyse several actions by the activists. This research finds that the actions by the activists of demonstrate a rational-instrumental and affective action as well as a symbolic  interactionism action in the context of HIV and AIDS prevention. Keywords: Yayasan Gaya Dewata, gays and transgender, HIV, AIDS, Bali  Abstrak Penelitian ini membahas peran dan tantangan yang dihadapi oleh para aktivis di Yayasan Gaya Dewata dalam upaya mereka mencegah infeksi HIV dan AIDS di kalangan gay dan waria di Bali. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kualitatif untuk mengamati kegiatan yang dilakukan para aktivis di tiga wilayah di Provinsi Bali: Kota Denpasar, Kabupaten Badung, dan Kabupaten Gianyar. Kegiatan para aktivis meliputi; penjangkauan lapangan dan online, diskusi kelompok interaktif, konseling dan tes HIV, pembagian kondom dan pelican bagi para gay dan waria, dan dukungan sosial bagi orang dengan HIV dan AIDS (ODHA). Penelitian ini menggunakan teori tindakan sosial dan interaksionisme simbolik untuk menganalisis kegiatan yang dilakukan para aktivis. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa kegiatan yang dilakukan para aktivis menunjukkan sebuah bentuk tindakan sosial rasional-instrumental dan sebuah interaksi simbolik dalam konteks pencegahan HIV dan AIDS.  Kata kunci: Yayasan Gaya Dewata, gay, waria, HIV, AIDS, Bali.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study discusses in descriptive explanative manners the preservation of Balinese literature that occurred in amateur radio PesantianDirgahayuAmbaraSwari. Balinese literature specifically discussed this as geguritan. Geguritan is a simple literary form of language structure, and standard rules (padalingsa). The research of literary sociology from Robert Escaprit is ideal for the identity of Balinese society through literary culture communicated via amateur radio in Bali area network. Efforts to preserve geguritan arise because of the cultural dominance outside due to globalization in Balinese society.Through this research, geguritanSudamalaBanaspati Raja version 3 will be discussed with Robert Escarpit's analysis of accepting the ideal ideas from literary writers which contain interpretationsin society.The meaning of geguritanSudamalaBanaspati Raja version 3 is needed, including the meaning of balinization, spiritual meaning, and the meaning of the organization involving the geguritan among the community. Abstract

ABSTRACT Street Vendors (PKL) in the Renon Field often receive control from the government. This makes interest to know how PKL in producing social space, the obstacles encountered, and to know the implications of the activities of PKL in their social space. This study found that the PKL social space production at the Renon Field was formed by the process of socializing, interacting, and forming a space zone. The stronger interaction then forms power. Constraints faced by PKL in producing their social space, namely the location permit, the small number of visitors, relatively small capitalization, competition among other traders. Abstract

ABSTRACT The results of existential feminism insight of Simone de Beauvoir in the sociological framework study include into the character of social definition paradigm. Different from other feminism view which more struggling the women’s insights in public arena, the existential feminism exists for struggling women in the domestic arena. The domestic arena in this case is women as housewives and workplace. The struggle of women in the domestic arena is the form of countering in direct way and face-to-face when women are threatened by men. Even, women possess a freedom to break values, norms, and the construction from the society who shackles them. On the other hands, women also possess free choices to make themselves be any roles, because in existentialism human is freedom itself so are the women. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the social interaction between consumers and baristas at Kopi Seduh Jenar, South Denpasar. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research. The theory used is the symbolic interacionism theory of Herbert Blumer. The results showed that the social interaction between baristas and consumers of Kopi Seduh Jenar was generally an associative social interaction and included cooperative and acculturation mechanisms. Symbols used in social interactions between baristas with consumers at Kopi Seduh Jenar are symbols of languages that manifest in spoken language symbols, gestures and actions, language of images and writings in social media Instagram, as well as Strategic symbols. The interpretation of the symbols on the social interaction of Kopi Seduh Jenar then resulted in social, economic, and educational significance. In the future, more advanced research is required to learn aspects of social interactions and other sociological aspects of coffee shops in Denpasar city. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine directly about possessive behavior that occurs within teenagers dating relationships at the city of Denpasar. The theory used in this research is Erich Fromm's The Art of Loving (Concept of Owning and Being). As for the results of this study, among others, there are fundamental factors that become the background of the emergence of possessive attitudes carried out by each partner, including the fear of loss, the previous failure in a relationship, and so forth. Also, from several cases of possessive actions, many of the couples committed physical or verbal violence to show dominance in the relationship. Abstract

ABSTRACT The tri datu bracelet is a three-colored bracelet that is used as a reminder to the people of the greatness of God in Balinese culture, the tri datu bracelet which is supposed to be a sacred object, but today is used as a tourist market commodity. This makes the tri datu bracelet an interesting research object to study from a sociological point of view. This study uses Max Weber's theory of rational action to analyze the phenomenon of modern tri datu bracelet sales as a form of rational action taken consciously by the community in economic mobility in the modernization era. Abstract

ABSTRACT Balinese dogs and Balinese people are two things that can’t be separated. Along with the development of the times, the dog race began to enter Bali. This phenomenon then makes the condition of local Bali dogs become marginalized and tend not to be noticed. This condition is the background of the formation of a dog rescue organization, the Bali Animal Welfare Association. Bali Animal Welfare Association is one of the animal rescue organizations in Bali. The existence of this organization is to provide education to the community to re-concern the condition and sustainability of local dogs Bali. Based on the phenomenon, the writer took the title of Bali Animal Welfare Association research as a New Social Movement in Bali Dog Conservation to understand the problem. This research uses Resource Mobilization Theory by Anthony Oberschall. In each program, Bali Animal Welfare Association seeks to invite the community to play an active role so as to foster community awareness of the preservation of local dogs Bali. While the influence of social movements undertaken by BAWA can be seen from the increasing public awareness to re-preserve the Bali dog and their participation in BAWA activities. Abstract

ABSTRACT The river is one of the natural resources that are very important for human life. The utilization of rivers is currently regressing, rivers are used as a landfill for waste. Revitalization of Tukad Badung is one of the government's efforts to improve environment quality and the arrangement of Denpasar City. After revitalization, Tukad Badung was made a public space and a tourist attraction. The revitalized Tukad Badung have an impact on changing society. This study analyzes and explains the changes in society after the revitalization of Tukad Badung. The method used in this study are qualitative descriptive explanative type and analysed based on a social behaviour theory proposed by B.F. Skinner. Through research that has been done, it is known how the change occurred in the community. Changes in community behaviour are caused by internal factors and external factor.
