Abstract

The digital era has reshaped educational paradigms, requiring innovative approaches across disciplines, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the Madrasah Aliyah level. This study explores the forms and effectiveness of digital innovations implemented in PAI instruction at selected Madrasah Aliyah in Banda Aceh. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis at two public madrasahs. The findings reveal several forms of digital innovation: (1) the use of instructional videos and religious animations; (2) gamified formative assessments via platforms such as Kahoot! and Quizizz; (3) the use of Learning Management Systems like Google Classroom; and (4) limited development of culturally grounded digital content rooted in Acehnese traditions. While these innovations have positively influenced student engagement, comprehension, and digital literacy, implementation remains uneven due to infrastructural limitations, gaps in teacher competence, and insufficient institutional support. The study emphasizes the potential of contextually responsive digital tools to enhance Islamic learning when accompanied by sustained capacity building and systemic support. By highlighting both pedagogical benefits and practical constraints, this research contributes to the discourse on culturally informed, technology-integrated Islamic education.

Abstract

Pendidikan akhlak sopan santun merupakan bagian penting dalam membentuk karakter siswa, khususnya di lembaga pendidikan berbasis Islam. SD Islam Qur’ani Banda Aceh sebagai sekolah yang mengintegrasikan program Tahfidz Al-Qur'an dengan pendidikan akhlak memiliki peran strategis dalam mencetak generasi berakhlak mulia. Namun, tantangan dalam mendidik sopan santun semakin kompleks di era modern, terutama dengan pengaruh lingkungan luar dan teknologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi yang diterapkan oleh guru Tahfidz dalam mendidik akhlak sopan santun pada siswa di SD Islam Qur’ani Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, dengan wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Informan penelitian terdiri dari lima guru Tahfidz yang aktif membimbing siswa dalam program Tahfidz dan pembentukan akhlak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi yang diterapkan meliputi keteladanan, penggunaan cerita inspiratif dari Al-Qur’an dan hadis, pendekatan personal, serta sistem reward and punishment. Strategi-strategi ini efektif dalam membentuk perilaku siswa yang lebih sopan dan menghormati guru, orang tua, serta teman sebaya. Temuan penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi praktis dalam pengembangan metode pendidikan akhlak di sekolah berbasis Islam, sekaligus menjadi model yang dapat diterapkan di lembaga pendidikan lain. Kolaborasi antara guru, siswa, dan orang tua juga menjadi faktor penting dalam memastikan keberhasilan pembentukan karakter siswa.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of experiential learning in developing students’ competencies within two Acehnese salafiyah dayah: Mudi Mesra and Ummul Ayman. It aims to reinterpret how experiential learning operates across ritual, vocational, institutional, and digital dimensions, thereby formulating a contextual framework for transformative Islamic education. Using a qualitative multiple-case design, data were collected from fifteen participants—including leaders, teachers, and students—through interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Thematic analysis, supported by triangulation, member checking, and peer debriefing, ensured credibility and reflexivity. Findings reveal that experiential learning is systematically embedded in ritual and communal practices (muhadzarah, khutbah, tajhiz mayat), vocational and entrepreneurial training (banking, printing, tailoring, IT), institutional mediation through teungku-centered authority, and emerging digital engagement such as WhatsApp-based muzakarah. These practices affirm Dewey’s and Kolb’s experiential frameworks while contextualizing constructivist learning within Islamic communal culture. The study introduces the concept of an “experiential ecology of Acehnese dayah,” which integrates spirituality, institutional authority, and innovation. Theoretically, it enriches global debates on experiential pedagogy in faith-based education; practically, it provides a model for enhancing vocational and digital readiness without compromising religious authenticity.

Abstract

Dayah or pesantren as a traditional Islamic educational institution that has given birth to many Acehnese scholars. The existence and number of dayah in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam is increasing. However, the fact is not balanced with innovations in learning methods, especially interpretation learning. This study aims to provide a detailed picture related to tafsir learning in Dayah Aceh. This research uses qualitative methods with a library research approach. Based on the results of the study, it was found, among others, that the learning of interpretation of most of Dayah Aceh uses the qodim (non-classical) system so that the role of students is limited. The existence of this phenomenon requires the reconstruction of interpretive learning in Dayah Aceh through the use of discovery or inquiry-discovery learning strategies; mastery of learning strategies; Unit Learning Strategies and Reception Learning Strategies

Abstract

The people of Aceh are most displeased with new things emerging from religion, especially in the name of Islam itself, such as Islam Nusantara. They will first vocally respond to Isnus without looking for details from the source. Especially young Acehnese activists. They are vocal about responding to their own version of Isnus, and mostly update their status on social media about developing issues. This research aims to map the response of young Acehnese activists to the issue of Indonesian Islam; finding the pattern of Indonesian Islam from the perspective of young Acehnese activists; explain the social dynamics of Acehnese society that emerged from the issue of Indonesian Islam; thus giving birth to characteristics or polarization of society with different criteria for the same issue. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques in this research were carried out through participant observation, in-depth interviews and documentation studies. Interviews and observations were conducted with young Acehnese activists. The young Acehnese activists who were informants in this research were cadres of the Muhammadiyah organization, Nahdlatul Ulama, MIUMI, BKPRMI, HMI, PII, Rabithah Taliban Aceh (RTA). and explained to the public comprehensively so that they do not misunderstand Islam. If this is not done, then it would be better if there was no cultivation of Indonesian Islam. This view emerged from BKPRMI, KAMMI, HMI cadres.

Abstract

The implementation of Islamic law in Aceh is not only aimed at maintaining social order but also at shaping empathetic character among the community. However, specific aspects related to the development of empathy have not received sufficient attention in previous research, which mostly focused on rule enforcement and sanctions. This study aims to explore the role of Islamic law in fostering an empathetic character in Aceh society. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach involving in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The results show that the implementation of Islamic law in Aceh is effective not only in maintaining order but also in significantly shaping the empathetic character of the community. Social activities such as zakat and mutual assistance serve as effective means to foster care and solidarity among the people. This study concludes that Islamic law in Aceh has a strong social dimension and can create a more harmonious community that is empathetic and sensitive to the needs of others. The contribution of this study is to provide a deeper understanding of the social dimension of Islamic law, particularly in fostering empathetic character, which has not been widely addressed in previous studies.

Abstract

Konflik sosial bernuansa SARA pada 13 Oktober 2015 yang terlibat antara umat Islam dan Kristen di Singkil mengakitkan rumah ibadah umat Kristen dibakar massa, satu orang umat Islam meninggal dan juga luka-luka. Aceh Singkil pasca peristiwa tersebut menjadi perhatian publik baik di Nasional maupun Internasional. Kapolda Aceh Irjen. Pol Husein Hamidi dan Mayjen. Agus Kriswanto Pangdam Iskandar Muda langsung terjun ke Aceh Singkil dan menetap di sana selama beberapa hari untuk menenangkan keadaan agar konflik tidak semakin meluas. Kajian ini sangat penting peneliti kaji lebih jauh untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai kearifan lokal yang ada di Singkil, bagaimana bentuknya, dan peranannya. Demikian pula dengan harmonisasi dan moderasi beragama, bagaimana sebetulnya moderasi beragama di Singkil dan bagaimana peran kearifan lokal dalam membangun harmonisasi dan moderasi beragama di Singkil.  Analisa tulisan ini terfokus pada kearifan lokal, harmonisasi dan moderasi beragama antar umat beragama yang ada di Singkil, dan peran kearifan lokal dalam membangun harmonisasi dan moderasi beragama di Singkil.

Abstract

Public speaking ability has become an essential skill in the digital transformation era, particularly in Islamic educational institutions. This study aims to analyze the strategies for developing public speaking skills and their impact on students' self-confidence at MAN 1 Banda Aceh and MAN 4 Aceh Besar. The research employs a qualitative descriptive-comparative approach through direct observation, in-depth interviews with school principals, vice principals for student affairs, public speaking trainers, and students, as well as institutional documentation. The findings indicate that both madrasahs implement systematic strategies encompassing initial assessment, goal setting, curriculum development, activity implementation, evaluation and feedback, reinforcement, supporting facilities, visual media utilization, emotional support, and peer collaboration. Four methods are applied: manuscript, memorization (memoriter), impromptu (spontaneity), and extemporaneous (outline elaboration). The implementation of public speaking training significantly impacts students' self-confidence, demonstrated through four aspects: confidence in one's own abilities, capability to make independent decisions, positive self-perception, and courage to express opinions to others. This study concludes that well-structured public speaking development strategies effectively enhance students' self-confidence and communication skills, preparing them to face competitive challenges in the future. The comparative findings reveal that both institutions share similar approaches while maintaining their respective institutional contexts, indicating that program success is determined more by implementation quality and consistency rather than specific organizational models. Abstrak Kemampuan public speaking telah menjadi keterampilan esensial di era transformasi digital, khususnya di lembaga pendidikan Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis strategi pengembangan kemampuan public speaking dan dampaknya terhadap kepercayaan diri peserta didik di MAN 1 Banda Aceh dan MAN 4 Aceh Besar. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif-komparatif melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam dengan kepala madrasah, wakil kepala bidang kesiswaan, guru pelatih public speaking, dan peserta didik, serta dokumentasi institusional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua madrasah menerapkan strategi sistematis yang mencakup penilaian awal, penetapan tujuan, pengembangan kurikulum, pelaksanaan kegiatan, evaluasi dan umpan balik, penguatan, fasilitas pendukung, penggunaan media visual, dukungan emosional, dan kolaborasi sesama. Empat metode diterapkan: manuskrip, hafalan (memoriter), spontanitas (impromptu), dan menjabarkan kerangka (ekstemporer). Implementasi pelatihan public speaking berdampak signifikan terhadap kepercayaan diri peserta didik, yang ditunjukkan melalui empat aspek: yakin pada kemampuan sendiri, mampu mengambil keputusan sendiri, mempunyai rasa positif pada diri, dan berani menyatakan pendapat kepada orang lain. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa strategi pengembangan public speaking yang terstruktur dengan baik efektif meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dan kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik, mempersiapkan mereka menghadapi tantangan kompetitif di masa depan. Temuan komparatif mengungkapkan bahwa kedua institusi memiliki kesamaan pendekatan dengan konteks institusional masing-masing, mengindikasikan bahwa keberhasilan program lebih ditentukan oleh kualitas implementasi dan konsistensi pelaksanaan daripada model organisasional spesifik.
