Abstract

Background: Corruption and bribery are persistent global problems that undermine governance, economic growth, and societal trust. While numerous legal frameworks have been developed to address these issues, their effectiveness is often influenced by cultural, religious, and institutional contexts. In Muslim-majority countries, Sharia-based legal principles provide a distinctive ethical and normative foundation for combating corruption. Purpose: This study aims to examine cross-cultural variations in anti-corruption laws with a specific focus on the contributions of Sharia-based frameworks to ethical governance, transparency, and accountability. Methods: Employing a comparative legal analysis, the research reviews anti-corruption legislation, international conventions, and Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) on integrity and public trust. Data are drawn from legal texts, case studies, and policy reports across multiple jurisdictions to evaluate enforcement mechanisms, preventive strategies, and public awareness campaigns. Findings: Employing a comparative legal analysis, the research reviews anti-corruption legislation, international conventions, and Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) on integrity and public trust. Data are drawn from legal texts, case studies, and policy reports across multiple jurisdictions to evaluate enforcement mechanisms, preventive strategies, and public awareness campaigns. Theoretical and Practical Implications: The study contributes to legal anthropology and Islamic jurisprudence by framing anti-corruption laws within culturally rooted governance models. Practically, it offers policymakers strategies for integrating ethical-religious norms into legal reforms to improve transparency, strengthen institutions, and foster public trust. Originality/Novelty: systematically compare Sharia-based anti-corruption models with secular approaches through a cross-cultural lens, highlighting the role of religious-ethical frameworks as complementary tools to global legal standards

Abstract

Loan mobilization must be a component of any development effort because it is thought to be the most efficient way to raise productivity and living standards while attempting to end teacher poverty. The study aimed to investigate how SACCO cooperative strategies impacted members to get a loan and look into factors influencing teachers’ socio-welfare in Rwanda. A sample of 15 SACCOs out of 30 in the Rwanda region and 180 SACCO members out of 72,334 were used in the study. These were chosen using straightforward random sampling techniques. The data was collected using a questionnaire, which 100 respondents answered. Data were analyzed using an SEM with AMOS to test relationships and assess the factors influencing teachers’ socio-welfare in Rwanda. According to the correlation coefficient, model fitness, regression weights, and hypothesis, the loan requirement positively impacted socio-welfare. In contrast, loans and intervening variables had a significantly positive effect. Loan and intervening variables were the most significant variables at a 100% confidence level. Therefore, most of them are seen as SACCOs, similar to cooperatives, because they impact members’ socio-welfare of teachers.

Abstract

This study seeks to examine whether a composite valuation model (made of several multiples) can outperform a single-multiple valuation model in valuation accuracy. This study applied a trial-and-error iteration using scripts written in R studio to optimize the weight of each multiple in each composite, aiming to reach a minimum valuation error for each composite valuation model. Based on financial data of 2009-2019, a composite valuation model performs better than a single-multiple valuation model in assessing all peer groups, achieving up to 18% greater accuracy, which is a significant improvement. The result suggests that a composite valuation model generally offers superior valuation accuracy. Academics and institutional investors searching for improved valuation accuracy may consider a composite valuation model as an alternative method. This study adds empirical evidence to the current knowledge on multiple-based valuation models, highlighting the potential advantages of a composite valuation model over a single-multiple model.
