Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research was to analyze the process and level of creative thinking of junior high school students based on mathematics anxiety’s students. The subjects of this research were taken by using purposive sampling. The Subjects of this research were six 9th grade students of SMP N 3 Colomadu Karanganyar regency. The data were collected by questionnaire and task-based interview technique and validated by using time triangulation. The data were analyzed by collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results of this research were: (1) students with high mathematics anxiety had level 1 (almost not creative) and the processes were at preparation stage, students feel difficult to understand and identify the problem; at the incubation stage, students found the idea from picture’s observation; at illumination stage, students could not  make mathematics statement based on the problem enough; at verification stage, students read or counted again for investigating the answer and they could resume the result appropriate the reality of the problem, (2) students with medium mathematics anxiety had level 1 (almost not creative) and level 2 (quite creative), and the processes were at preparation stage, students could understand and identify the problem well; at the incubation stage, students found the idea from picture’s observation; at illumination stage, students could make mathematics statement based on the problem well; at verification stage, students counted again for investigating the answer and they could resume the result appropriate the reality of the problem, (3) students with low mathematics anxiety had level 2 (quite creative), and the processes were at preparation stage, students could understand and identify the problem so well; at the incubation stage, students found the idea from picture’s observation and from the knowledge before; at illumination stage, students could make mathematics statement based on the problem so well; at verification stage, students counted again for investigating the answer and they could resume the result appropriate the reality of the problem.Keywords: creative thinking processes; creative thinking level; word problem solving; mathematics anxiety.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian eksperimen ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan pembelajaran Experiential Learning berbantuan origami terhadap kemampuan keruangan siswa dengan kualifikasi keefektifan yang telah ditentukan. Populasi yaitu siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Colomadu tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. Sampel diambil secara simple random sampling. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu: (1) Uji proporsi ketuntasan belajar menunjukkan siswa kelompok eksperimen telah mencapai ketuntasan belajar; (2) Uji perbedaan dua rata-rata menghasilkan simpulan bahwa rata-rata hasil post-test kemam-puan keruangan siswa kelompok eksperimen lebih dari kelompok kontrol; (3) Analisis re-gresi menunjukkan bahwa motivasi belajar siswa memberikan pengaruh positif sebesar 49,3% terhadap kemampuan keruangan siswa; (4) Uji gain ternormalisasi menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan kemampuan keruangan siswa secara signifikan pada kategaori sedang untuk kelompok eksperimen dan kategori rendah untuk kelompok kontrol. Simpulan yang diperoleh yaitu Experiential Learning berbantuan origami efektif terhadap kemampuan keruangan siswa kelas VIII. AbstractThis experiment research aims to determine the effectiveness of Experiential Learning with Origami to the students’s spatial abilities by the criteria of effectiveness. This research is using documentation, spatial abilities’s test, dan motivation’s scale for collecting data method. Result of this research are: (1) proportion test show that the experiment group has reached mastering of learning clasically and personally; (2) result of spatial ablities’s post test in experiment group better than control group; (3) result of regretion shows that student’s motivation influence 49,3% to the students’s spatial abilities; and (4) the students’s spatial abilities at experiment group  increase in the middle categories, while  the students’s spatial abilities at control group  increase in the low categories. It be concluded that Experiential Learning with origami effective to the students’s spatial abilities.

Abstract

Berpikir kritis merupakan salah satu keterampilan utama yang dibutuhkan dalam berkarir di era digital. Meskipun berpikir kritis telah dipelajari, pemikiran kritis siswa belum begitu ditekankan dalam matematika sekolah. Namun, penting untuk memberikan kehidupan siswa di masyarakat di masa depan, terutama ketika mereka menghadapi situasi yang tidak dikenal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendukung penalaran matematis siswa pada materi barisan dan deret dengan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Langkah-langkah pembelajaran mengintegrasikan masalah kontekstual pada lembar kerja di setiap episode. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi dan tes tertulis untuk menggali kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Analisis data paket pembelajaran dilakukan secara kualitatif, sedangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa diolah dengan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menyajikan deskripsi episode pembelajaran yang difokuskan untuk mengatasi pemikiran kritis siswa tentang masalah barisan dan deret. Analisis data menekankan pada lembar kerja masalah kontekstual pada pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Selain itu, kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dijelaskan dengan metode kualitatif. Berpikir kritis siswa ditingkatkan dengan mendapatkan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan LKS kontekstual, meskipun keterampilan pada indikator penilaian dan inferensi belum optimal.

Abstract

There is high unpassed value of students in Mathematics Departmen UMS at Integral Calculus lecture. It is predicted that there are so many students have difficulties in Integral Calculus. Data from mid exam at academic year 2016/2017 showed that there are 80,87% from 115 students got score under 63. It is indicated that there are so many students’s error in solving integral calculus problems. Integral Calculus is one of basic lecture which is prerequisite of other complex lecture. Knowing the error’s position and the factor that caused student’s error would help lecturer pay attention in integral calculus learning. Thus, the aim of this research is identifiying error’s position that are done by students and analyzing causative factor in solving Integral Kalkulus problems. Kind of this research is qualitative description. Technique of collecting data is test and interview. This research uses technique-triangulation for validating data, it is by documentation and interview. Meanwhile, the steps for analyzing data are  data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of this research showed that there is 41,40% error with type process skill error in solving Integral Calculus problems. Besides, types of student’s error in solving Integral Calculus problems are transformation error, comprehension error, and reading error. There is no encoding error that found in this research. Causative factors of that student’s error are (1) students did not careful in reading the problems, writing mathematics siymbol include symbol of integral, and calculating, (2) low of  prerequisite material mastery and concept of basic mathematics, (3) low of undestanding of material and concept of integral, (4) students could not identify the characteristics or types of probles to determine the appropriate technique of integration, and (5) the use of formula which is not appropriate and not suitable with problem’s solution

Abstract

Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pofil efikasi diri mahasiswa pada perkuliahan Kalkulus Integral. Subjek penelitian adalah 43 mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Industri Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta yang mengikuti perkuliahan Kalkulus Integral. Instrumen pengumpulan data terdiri dari angket efikasi diri serta pedoman wawancara. Subjek mengisi angket efikasi diri. Hasilnya adalah 2% mahasiswa memiliki efikasi diri sangat tinggi, 40% tinggi, 51% sedang,  7% memiliki efikasi diri rendah. Selanjutnya dipilih 6 mahasiswa, masing-masing 2 mahasiswa dengan efikasi diri tinggi, sedang, rendah untuk diwawancarai. Hasilnya yaitu mahasiswa dengan efikasi diri tinggi dan sedang tidak putus asa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan Kalkulus Integral, sedangkan mahasiswa dengan efikasi diri rendah putus asa saat menghadapi permasalahan tersebut. Mahasiswa dengan tingkat efikasi diri tinggi, sedang, dan rendah belum mampu mempelajari materi sulit Kalkulus Integral secara mandiri. Akan tetapi, mereka mampu menyelesaikan tugas dan mengumpulkannya tepat waktu. Usaha belajar mereka belum optimal dengan berbagai macam penyebab sehingga mereka tidak yakin mampu mencapai prestasi belajar yang ditargetkan, terkecuali dua mahasiswa dengan efikasi diri tinggi dan sedang. Self-efficacy of university student in integral calculus course AbstractThis qualitative research aimed to describe students’ self-efficacy profile on Integral Calculus course. The subjects were 43 students of Industrial Engineering Department, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, who attended Integral Calculus course. The instruments used to data collecting were self-efficacy questionnaire and interview guidelines. The subjects were given self-efficacy questionnaire. The results showed that 2% of students had very high of self-efficacy, 40% high, 51% middle, the remaining 7% students had low self-efficacy. Six students were selected to be interviewed, consisted of 2 students with high, middle, and low self-efficacy. The interview results were students with high and middle self-efficacy were not give up to solve Integral Calculus problems, while students with low self-efficacy tend to desperate when solving the problems. Students with high, middle, and low self-efficacy levels had not been able to study the Integral Calculus difficult material independently. However, they were able to complete the task and collect it on time. Their learning efforts have not been optimal with a variety of causes so they were not confident for reaching optimum achievement, except two students with high and middle self efficacy level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan Mix Methods desain Sequential Explanatory yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematis. Penelitian dilaksanakan terhadap kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Sambi. Adapun sampel hanya kelas VIII B dengan jumlah 20 siswa. Metode pengumpulan data berupa tes, wawancara, dan juga dokumentasi. Pada data kuantitatif dianalisis dengan menggunakan Sign Test, sementara itu analisis data kualitatif melibatkan tiga langkah yakni reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil uji Sign Test diperoleh 0,004 < 0,05 yang artinya pendekatan RME berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan kemampuan terhadap koneksi matematis siswa. Selanjutnya, berdasarkan analisis data kualitatif: 1) Siswa berkoneksi matematis kategori tinggi terjadi peningkatan ketercapaian indikator dan menyelesaikan dengan tepat; 2) Siswa berkoneksi matematis kategori sedang terjadi peningkatan ketercapaian indikator, namun tidak menyelesaikan dengan tepat; 3) Siswa dengan kategori rendah, kemampuan koneksi matematisnya tidak terjadi peningkatan ketercapaian indikator. Dari penelitian ini, diperoleh kesimpulan pendekatan RME berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematical reasoning ability of students. This happens because students cannot fulfill the indicators of mathematical reasoning. This study aims to describe students' mathematical reasoning ability on the material of linear equation one variable based on students' learning style. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were three students consisting of one visual learning style student, one audiotorial learning style student, and one kinesthetic learning style student of class VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Kemusu. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires, tests, and interviews. Questionnaires were used to categorize students' learning styles. While the test was conducted to determine the mathematical reasoning ability of students and interviews were conducted to strengthen the answers to the test questions that had been done. The results of this study indicate that visual learning style and kinesthetic learning style students have high mathematical reasoning and audiotorial learning style has low mathematical reasoning.

Abstract

Gerakan literasi sekolah melalui program perpustakaan dinding dan budaya membaca merupakan sebuah upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan minat baca siswa. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas 1 hingga kelas 3 dari program perpustakaan dinding. Program ini dilaksanakan di MI Muhammadiyah Kuncen Cawas.  Pelaksanaan program dilakukan dengan pengadaan perpustakaan dinding dan kegiatan budaya membaca setiap hari. Untuk melihat hasil pelaksanaan program, dilakukan wawancara dan observasi. Dari hasil yang telah diperoleh terjadi peningkatan kemampuan membaca setelah adanya program perpustakaan dinding dan program kegiatan membaca  secara signifikan, yaitu terjadi dikelas 2 A, yang awalnya 31% menjadi 68% .
