Abstract

Many recent studies have used plastic waste as an ingredient in conventional asphalt mixtures. However, they did not notice that the addition of plastics can reduce the permeability of asphalt mixtures, which means that porous asphalt is a better plastic trash that will be added to a specific type of asphalt mixture. Despite having a low marshall value, porous asphalt provides a benefit in terms of permeability. Low-density polyethylene (LDPE), a form of plastic trash employed in this study, boosted the Marshall stability mark. This study changed porous asphalt by adding LDPE plastic for usage on the field, then tested for marshall stability and permeability. A porous asphalt mixture should be created as a result of this study's findings with the highest percentage of plastic content without reducing its permeability classification, considering the percentage of plastic used. It is equally essential, and evaluating the wheel tracking machine will help gather more information about its resistance to deformation. The permeability test of porous asphalt with the addition of plastic at 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, respectively, produced findings that were 0.2002 cm/s, 0.1507 cm/s, 0.1131 cm/s, and 0.0897 cm/s. The results of the Marshall stability check on porous asphalt with the percentage of added plastic starting from 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 percent show values of 571.52 kilograms, 716.9067 kilograms, 731.9467 kilograms, 817.1733 kilograms, and 912 .4267 kilograms. In the wheel tracking machine test, it works well for dynamic stability values at a plastic percentage of 20%, or 7159.091 passes/mm.ABSTRAKBanyak penelitian telah menggunakan limbah plastik sebagai bahan campuran aspal konvensional beberapa tahun terakhir.

Abstract

Traffic congestion at toll gates, caused by long queues of vehicles, remains a significant operational challenge for toll road management in Indonesia. Although the electronic toll collection (E-Toll) system has reduced cash-based transactions, vehicle stops during card tapping continue to limit toll gate capacity during peak traffic. This condition underscores the need for a more efficient toll-collection system. This study aims to evaluate the technical and operational feasibility of implementing the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) system at the Keramasan–Kayuagung Toll Gate on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road. Primary data were obtained through direct observation of service time and expert interviews, while secondary data included traffic volume, queue length, and traffic growth rates from relevant agencies. Technical analysis was conducted using queueing system models and time-series traffic forecasting. The results indicate an average service time of 8.381 seconds per vehicle, with an average queue length of 5–7 cars and a service utilization rate of 0.7635 under existing E-Toll operations. Traffic projections indicate that optimal technical conditions for MLFF implementation are expected to be achieved by 2043; however, accelerated implementation by 2034 is feasible through improvements in regulation, infrastructure readiness, and user awareness.

Abstract

The Ampera LRT Station is located in the center of Palembang City and on the banks of the Musi River. This area is a center of community activity, with the presence of hospitals, offices, restaurants, hotels, and shopping centers. The existence of the Palembang LRT is intended to overcome congestion and accommodate the mobility needs of the community in Palembang, especially in the Ampera area. However, there are several issues related to pedestrian facilities in the Ampera LRT Station area, such as the misuse of sidewalk functions, the presence of many side barriers in the form of street vendors and on-street parking, as well as the lack of safe and comfortable crossing facilities for pedestrians, especially for people with disabilities. This study analyzes the pedestrian facility needs in the Ampera LRT Station area of Palembang. The method used in this study is the calculation of the level of service (LOS) based on the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997 and the empirical formula calculation of pedestrian conflicts based on the pedestrian flow and vehicle traffic flow (PV2) using quantitative data. The research results show that it is necessary to repair and add pedestrian facilities under the concept of walkability, such as providing sidewalks that can be used according to their function, providing crossing facilities such as pelicans with waiting platforms on Merdeka Street, Sudirman Street, and Tengkuruk Permai Street, while on Masjid Lama Street and Palembang Darussalam Street, zebra crossings or pedestrian platforms are needed. The results of this study are expected to be input for the Palembang City Government to improve the quality of pedestrian facilities in the Ampera LRT Station area so that it can support the station's function as a center of community activity and movement in the area.
