Abstract

Abstract Objective – This study aims to examine the effects of green product innovation, R&D investment, and AI adoption on competitive advantage in Indonesian manufacturing firms. It also investigates whether intellectual capital and government support strengthen these relationships. Design/methodology/approach – A quantitative research design was employed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Data were collected from manufacturing firms in Indonesia to test the direct effects of green product innovation, R&D investment, and AI adoption on competitive advantage, as well as the moderating roles of intellectual capital and government support. Findings – The findings indicate that green product innovation, R&D investment, and AI adoption each exert a positive effect on competitive advantage. Intellectual capital significantly strengthens the effects of green product innovation and R&D investment on competitive advantage, although its moderating effect on AI adoption is not statistically significant. Government support consistently strengthens all three relationships, suggesting that external institutional support plays an important role in enhancing the contribution of internal innovation capabilities to firm competitiveness. Research limitations/implications – This study is limited to manufacturing firms in Indonesia, which may constrain the generalisability of the findings. The study contributes to the strategic management literature by offering an integrated framework that links innovation strategies, intellectual capital, and government support to competitive advantage. Practical implications – Managers should develop integrated innovation strategies supported by intellectual capital, while policymakers should provide targeted incentives and technical support to facilitate innovation adoption. Originality/value – This study provides a comprehensive understanding of how internal resources and external support interact to drive innovation-led competitiveness in an emerging market context.

Abstract

Orange bonds are sustainable bond instruments which the funds are specifically used to finance gender equality, climate action, women's empowerment, and other social inclusion programs. This research uses the scoping review method, with the aim of systematically mapping the emergence of orange bonds and gender-responsive sustainable finance, as well as identifying publication trends, methodological approaches, research themes, and existing gaps. Searches were carried out on Web of Science, Scopus, Business Source Complete, JSTOR, and Google Scholar databases following the PRISMA-ScR protocol. Based on 2,847 initial records, 300 researches met the inclusion criteria. The research results show that although the sustainable finance literatures are expanding rapidly at 55% per year, there are only 12 studies that specifically addressed orange bonds. The most of research is quantitative econometric methods (47%), and is concentrated in East Asia (28%) and Europe (34%), while developing nations are underrepresented (<20%). Gender integration only appeared in 15% of the studies. This large research gap limits market and policy development. Based on this, the expansion of research, the development of standardized gender impact metrics, and policy harmonization to support orange bonds as a catalyst for sustainable development are absolutely necessary.

Abstract

Higher education for women in rural areas is a key element in community empowerment, but access to it is still hampered by social and economic factors. Women in Pasir Gombong Village, Bayah District, face challenges in accessing higher education due to unequal opportunities, conservative social norms, and lack of sustainable institutional support. This community service aims to increase women's participation in higher education by applying a participatory approach involving various stakeholders. The programme includes an initial survey to map the main barriers, focus group discussions (FGDs) to explore community perspectives, educational workshops to increase understanding of the benefits of higher education, and academic mentoring for young women who plan to continue their education. The programme evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test to measure changes in community perceptions towards higher education for women after the intervention. The results show that this intervention programme succeeded in raising community awareness about the importance of higher education for women, strengthening institutional support, and increasing women's motivation to pursue higher education. The conclusion of this service emphasises the importance of a holistic approach in overcoming social and institutional barriers. This model can be replicated in other areas by adjusting the intervention strategy according to the social and cultural characteristics of the local community.
