Abstract

Both biotic and abiotic natural resources are the capital of the biosphere that may be exploited to meet human needs and promote human welfare. Global warming is a consequence of increasing environmental degradation. During photosynthesis, trees may collect carbon from the atmosphere, separate carbon from oxygen, and release oxygen back into the atmosphere. This investigation was conducted on post-coal mining reclamation land that PT. Bukit Asam (BA) restored in 2009, 2012, and 2015. This study employs a quantitative approach with a purposive sampling methodology. The utilized sampling intensities were 1%, 2.5%, and 5%. The plot chosen is a 20-by-20-meter rectangle. Carbon storage for the 2009 planting time averaged 40.57 tons per hectare over a total area of 32.89 ha. Carbon storage for the planting year of 2012 with a total area of 5.73 hectares and an average carbon storage of 26.37 tons per hectare. Carbon sequestration in 2015 with a total area of 3.90 hectares and an average carbon storage of 20.86 tons per hectare.

Abstract

The Sungai Merah Protection Forest is close to community settlements. As the population increases, the need for arable land will also increase, so that many people cultivate protected forests into arable land in the form of plantations. On this basis, through the NTFP development program with a community empowerment pattern, it is hoped that protected forests can provide social and economic functions for the community while still paying attention to their ecological functions. In preparing the NTFP development program it is not yet known and there is no data on potential NTFPs that can be developed. This study aims to inventory and identify the types of each non-timber forest product species recorded (classification and nomenclature, morphological characteristics and the beneficial value of the species) of non-timber forest products (HHBK) in the Sungai Merah Protection Forest. The sampling method was carried out by purposive sampling. The selection of samples is based on classification or cluster based on the classification of land cover types resulting from the interpretation of images using GIS software. The sampling intensity to be used is 0.1%. The plot size to be used refers to the guidelines for surveying natural forests and community cultivated plants, namely a plot area of 0.1 ha with a rectangular plot shape (20x50) meters. Rectangular plot shape 20 x 50 m (0.1 ha). the results of data analysis on NTFP secondary forest were dominated by shuji plants, the highest Relative Density (KR), Relative Frequency (FR) and Importance Value Index (INP), namely 28.72%, 20.14% and 48.86 respectively %., while the plantation area was dominated by rubber plants with density, frequency, and dominance of 80.00, 0.25, and 18003.10. This shows the important role of these plants in the protected forest area of the Red River.

Abstract

Based on data from the number of hotspots in South Sumatra Province in 2020, Musi Banyuasin (Muba) Regency has the highest hotspots compared to other regencies, namely 623 points. One of the areas experiencing forest fires in Muba Regency is Muara Merang Village. The Muba Regency Government admitted that around 50% of the 719,976 ha of forest area in Muba was damaged. Based on these conditions, the problem arises of how much of the community's cultivated land was burned and what impact the fire had on community income and community activities, so the aim of the study was to determine the impact of forest fires on the income and activities of the Muara Merang Village community. This research method uses a survey research method with a qualitative and quantitative approach. Data collection uses triangulation methods through observation, interviews and documentation. The population in this study is Muara Merang Village with samples consisting of Bakung Hamlet, Tebing Harapan Hamlet and Pancoran Hamlet. Data analysis uses descriptive analysis with a quantitative percentage and qualitative approach. The results of the study showed that the people of Muara Merang Village had an average of 4.13 ha of land and the land they owned was burned an average of 1.53 ha. Overall, forest fires resulted in a decrease in community income with an average decrease of 20.56%. The highest decrease in income was experienced by the people in Pancuran Hamlet with an average decrease of 33.33%. The value of income decline for the Bakung Hamlet community was 11.35% and the lowest income decline was experienced by the Tebing Harapan Hamlet community with an average decline of 10.21%. The work constraints experienced by the community due to the fire were not tapping rubber, reduced working days, decreased sales value, not harvesting oil palm, reduced fish yields, difficulty in enriching oil palm or rubber plants, difficulty in cleaning up remaining branches after the fire, and reduced labor due to illness.

Abstract

The Red River Protected Forest is close residential areas, resulting in intensive interactions between communities and protected forest. Directed on the management, extracting forest products not wood and services environment. One management services environments that are going to a business and can be administered in the forest are participating in the scheme incentives services mechanism store and carbon spare. When management will follow the incentives stock and absorb carbon REDD+, so then calculation carbon stock early to important and necessary. This study aims to calculate the amount of savings mobilized carbon the upper surface of the in a protected forest the red river KPHP Meranti. The value of the amount of savings mobilized carbon the above ground of them in the long term, can be used as a baseline to participate in the program REDD+. The data stands in the form of a stake through the stake, with a pole and trees in every type veils and the diameters of tree height measurement (DBH) taken from secondary data the results of previous studies that will be used as a means of calculation stands biomass. The result of this research is saving through the largest carbon in the field were in the protected land cover of secondary 259.3474 Ton/C, second largest carbon savings are covered land shrub with the saving of carbon stock 21.8023 T/c and the smallest carbon stock is in plantations by land cover the carbon stock of 6.2881 Ton/C.

Abstract

Changes in land cover are thought to be the main factor in the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. UHI is a form of local climate change which is characterized by an increase in temperature reaching 6oC in central urban areas compared to vegetated areas on the outskirts of the city. Compact vegetated land or Green Open Space (GOS), which is able to avoid increasing the surrounding temperature. GOR H. Agus Salim as one of the GOS in Padang City is a place for residents to have recreation and fill their free time by enjoying various culinary delights with friends and family as well as sports activities. This research aims to measure the benefits of tree canopies as climate amelioration in the H. Agus Salim GOR area. The research was conducted in September 2023, with 7 repetitions at 5 measurement points (3 under the tree canopy and 2 in the open field). Data is measured directly in the field with a thermohygrometer. The cooling effect provided by trees was analyzed using a difference approach between measurements in shade and open areas. Thermal comfort level is measured using the empirical formula Temperature Humidity Index (THI). The results showed that there was a decrease in temperature under the tree from 2,0oC (in the morning) to 2,9C (in the afternoon). However, THI calculations show that GOR H. Agus Salim is in the Uncomfortable criteria both under a canopy and in open areas.

Abstract

Uncertainty over forest area is one of the obstacles to effective forest governance in Indonesia. Of the total forest area of 130 million hectares, only about 12 percent (14.2 million hectares) has been demarcated. This uncertainty triggers tenurial conflicts with various parties with an interest in the forest area. The low income of the community triggers forest encroachment activities. Forest encroachment is a very effective alternative job according to the community to get a high income in a short time. As a result of the crisis, there was a conflict between the community around the concession area and PT Musi Hutan Persada (MHP). This research was conducted to find out and describe the pattern of land tenure by the community in the PT MHP permit area, analyze the form of partnership collaboration between communities, and find out the impacts and benefits of the collaboration scheme used. This research method is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, documentation and literature. The triangulation technique was carried out by conducting in-depth interviews directly with selected informants. The results of this study show that based on the steatment area, the land controlled by the community can be divided into 2 land tenure patterns, namely land tenure patterns that have a steatment area of more than 50 ha with a total area of 47,568.64 ha and land tenure patterns that have a steatment area of less than 50 ha with a total area of 382.7 ha. Conflict resolution carried out by PT MHP on land that has a steatment area of more than 50 ha is managing forests with the community while land that has a steatment area of less than 50 ha is managing community forests. The impacts and benefits of the collaboration scheme carried out by PT MHP are the benefits for the company of establishing good relations between the company and the community, reducing fire levels, returning land that was once controlled by the community and not creating new conflicts.
