Abstract

Seiring dengan kebutuhan penguasaan Bahasa Mandarin yang semakin tinggi, maka kebutuhan terhadap guru Bahasa Mandarin yang memiliki kompetensi keguruan juga semakin tinggi. Namun, faktanya jumlah guru Bahasa Mandarin yang berlatar belakang pendidikan keguruan masih terbatas. Untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru pada kompetensi assessment, Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin (PSPBM) Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) menyelenggarakan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat berbasis penelitian. Kegiatan telah diselenggarakan secara bertahap selama dua tahun berturut-turut. Tahun 2023 adalah lokakarya tahap kedua mengenai bentuk latihan keterampilan menyimak dan keterampilan menulis bahasa Mandarin. Kegiatan dihadiri 78 peserta yang terdiri dari guru Bahasa Mandarin di tingkat SMA sederajat serta calon guru Bahasa Mandarin dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Melalui kegiatan lokakarya peserta lokakarya mendapatkan pengetahuan mengenai tren bentuk latihan menyimak dan menulis Bahasa Mandarin. Selain itu, peserta lokakarya juga memperoleh ruang diskusi untuk berbagi informasi tentang bentuk-bentuk latihan menyimak dan menulis serta tantangan yang dihadapi guru di sekolah saat memberikan  latihan bahasa Mandarin tersebut.

Abstract

The translation is a process of transferring meaning from the source language to the target language. The translation process itself requires appropriate translation techniques in order to produce an acceptable translation in source language. Likewise, idiom or  chengyu has its own translation techniques. This study aims to analyze the chengyu translation technique in the Chinese web novel “Di Yi Qi Shao” which has been translated to the Indonesian version called “Menantu Palsu” using the idiom translation theory introduced by Nida and Taber which are from idioms to non-idioms; from idioms to idioms; and from non-idioms to idioms. This research is a qualitative descriptive analysis using the content analysis technique as a data analysis technique. The research uses the idiom translation method from Nida and Taber as a reference. The data of this study consists of 196 chengyu contained in chapter 1 until chapter 25 of the web novel.The study results showed that 155 chengyu (79.08%) were translated from idioms to non-idioms technique and six chengyu (3.06%) were translated by from idioms to idioms technique. Apart from using those two techniques, 35 chengyu (17.86%) were not translated. The results of the study also show that in the process of translation, there is a similar chengyu, each being translated by the same translation technique, but there is also a similar chengyu on several occurrences: some were not translated. In addition, there are similar chengyu which on its several occurernces, were translated by similar techniques but resulted in different translations.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has made the education world adapt rapidly. During this pandemic era, the face-to-face learning is avoided and distance learning (PJJ) is adaptively applied at various levels of education, neither formal nor non-formal. In its implementation, distance learning is institutional-based learning activity and is a part of formal education, so it has different forms and tools differ from so called self-taught learning. More over, educational interactions between teachers and students are carried out at a distance apart. Necessarily, distance learning should be implemented with careful planning and preparation. Considering the fact that most of the distance learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic were carried out suddenly and without prior planning, this paper is expected to provide input to the organizers of this sudden distance learning. This paper provides a description of PJJ, including types of PJJ, PJJ teaching materials, and PJJ constellations.

Abstract

In today's era of globalization, there has been an explosion of information throughout the world. The implication of the information explosion phenomenon is the increasing demand for qualified translators. Before translating, a translator must know the theories about translation, especially regarding the type of equivalence of translation, thereby the translation is more accurate and deviations in translation can be avoided. One of the aspects of these is the type of equivalence in translation. This research aims to find out the number of formal equivalences, dynamic equivalences, and deviations in the results of translations of Mandarin informative texts by PSPBM UNJ students class of 2015. Starting from the word level equivalence, above the word level equivalence and grammatical equivalence. This research also describes various findings related to the types of translation equivalences that exist in the translations. The data in this research is limited to words, phrases, clauses, and sentences translated by PSPBM UNJ students towards one of the texts given in the Mandarin-Indonesian Translation course. This research use content analysis method. The results of the analysis show that equivalence of translation at the word levelreaches 81.8%; at the level above the word level reaches 75% and for grammatical equivalence reaches 47.2%. Based on the findings of this research, the authors found that although the results of the 2015 class of PSPBM UNJ students' translations were mostly equivalent, there are still deviations in conveying information into target language. The results of this research can be used to broaden the reader's insight related to translation theory, especially regarding equivalence in translation.

Abstract

Foreign language learning is inseparable from translation activities. Translation activities are carried out in the Mandarin skills course at Jakarta University Mandarin Education Study Program. In order to translate from the source language (SL) to target language (TL) and produce an equivalent translation, apart from the need for proper techniques and methods, it is also necessary for translators to understand the type of text and the type of meaning. The aim of this study is to describe the equivalence of translation of 1 selected text translated by 10 students of 6th semester PSPBM UNJ, using the theory of equivalence of traslation by Baker. This study is limited to classifying equivalence based on type, and has not yet done furhter analysis on wether the equivalence is classified as formal, dynamic, and equivalene in term of context. The result showed that 49% of the translations include equivalence at word level, 19% equivalence above word level, 19% grammatical equivalence, 13 % pragmatic equivalence, and 6% textual equivalence.

Abstract

Dewasa ini, Youtube menjadi salah satu media pembelajaran berbasis internet yang banyak digunakan. Saat mengikuti Praktik Keterampilan Mengajar (PKM) di SMK Negeri 41 Jakarta, peneliti memanfaatkan Youtube Little Fox Chinese dalam pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Mandarin. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pemanfaatan Youtube Little Fox Chinese pada PKM mata pelajaran bahasa Mandarin di SMK Negeri 41 Jakarta. Lingkup pemanfaatan dalam penelitian ini mencakupi perencanaan dan pelaksanaan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode wawancara dan observasi. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah kondisi pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin saat kegiatan PKM di kelas X SMK Negeri 41 Jakarta pada semester ganjil 2022/2023. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, terdapat 7 video Youtube Little Fox Chinese yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Mandarin di SMK Negeri 41 Jakarta. Video yang digunakan mampu membantu peserta didik dalam menghafal dan menguasai kosakata bahasa Mandarin serta memberikan kesan bahwa belajar bahasa Mandarin menyenangkan. Nowadays, Youtube is one of the most widely used internet-based learning media. While participating in the Teaching Skills Practice (PKM) at Vocational High School 41 Jakarta, researchers utilized Youtube Little Fox Chinese in learning Chinese vocabulary. The purpose of this study is to describe how the utilization of Youtube Little Fox Chinese in the PKM of Mandarin subject at Vocational High School 41 Jakarta. The scope of utilization in this study includes planning and implementation. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with interview and observation methods. The data source in this study is the condition of Chinese learning during PKM activities in class X of Vocational High School 41 Jakarta in the odd semester of 2022/2023. The results showed that there are 7 Youtube videos of Little Fox Chinese used in learning Chinese vocabulary at Vocational High School 41 Jakarta. The videos used are able to help students memorize and master Chinese vocabulary and give the impression that learning Chinese is fun.

Abstract

Semantik kognitif menjadikan bahasa khususnya makna dan kognisi sebagai subject matter atau objek material. Ilmu lain dengan objek material relatif sama yaitu psikolinguistik, sosiolinguistik, dan antrolinguistik. Perbedaan di antara beberapa ilmu tersebut yaitu pada objek formal atau cara mendekatinya. Seiring dengan taksonomi yang semakin spesifik, keterkaitan dan batasan mengenai keilmuan ini perlu untuk disampaikan dalam konteks pembahasan filsafat ilmu pengetahuan yaitu arah dan tujuan keilmuan. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk melakukan refleksi terhadap arah dan tujuan keilmuan semantik kognitif dalam kajian bahasa Mandarin. Filsafat menggugah manusia untuk berdiri dari sudut pandang curiga dan berupaya selalu bertanya. Melalui ancangan refleksi, filsafat mempertanyakan apa-apa yang dilakukan dalam keilmuan semantik kognitif bahasa Mandarin juga alasan yang mendasarinya, sehingga akan diketahui arah dan tujuan aktivitas, serta bagaimana cara mencapainya.

Abstract

Predicates are considered the center of sentences, and understanding them will help students understand the meaning of various utterances. A contrastive study between languages helps to understand the target language being studied. However, research on the contrast of Chinese and Indonesian predicates has not received enough attention. This paper focuses on a contrastive analysis of Chinese and Indonesian adjective-predicate sentences, namely the syntactic units that form the predicate and the related grammatical rules. The data in this study were Chinese and Indonesian adjective-predicate sentences from short stories, novels, and associated grammatical works. The data obtained were then analysed using the procedure described by James and the contrastive analysis method by Di Pietro. The results of the study show that Chinese and Indonesian predicates are similar in definition, but differ in the internal structure. The fundamental difference is that bare adjectives in Chinese sentences are used only in comparative contexts. In addition, some Indonesian adjective-predicate sentences must be added with “adalah” or demonstrative pronouns between the subject and predicate. While the equivalent in Mandarin is the verb “shi”, and sentences whose predicates are added with verbs will become verbal sentences. These findings will undoubtedly contribute to the understanding of Chinese language learners from Indonesia and are expected to provide input and references in the field of translation.

Abstract

Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin (PSPBM) adalah prodi pendidikan bahasa asing juga prodi termuda pada Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni Universitas Negeri Jakarta (FBS UNJ). Sebagai bagian dari institusi pendidikan formal yang turut mencetak calon guru Bahasa Mandarin, penerimaan mahasiswa baru yang berkualitas pada PSPBM UNJ dapat memengaruhi kualitas pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di Indonesia. Adapun kegiatan penerimaan mahasiswa baru berkualitas berbenturan dengan permasalahan berupa kurangnya pengenalan siswa/i SMA sederajat akan budaya Cina dan Bahasa Mandarin sehingga memengaruhi ketertarikan pada PSPBM. Untuk itu, diperlukan sebuah kegiatan yang dapat memfasilitasi para siswa berkenalan dengan seni budaya Cina. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan seni kaligrafi Cina kepada siswa/i SMA sederajat dan memberikan informasi seputar kehidupan kampus di PSPBM UNJ. Bekerja sama dengan MGMP Bahasa Mandarin DKI Jakarta, kegiatan dilakukan secara luring pada 25 dan 26 September 2023 di Kampus A UNJ dengan mengundang perwakilan dari 7 sekolah di Jabodetabek. Sebanyak 60 peserta hadir selama 2 hari tersebut. Kegiatan pengabdian berupa pengenalan seni kaligrafi Cina diharapkan dapat membuka wawasan siswa/i SMA mengenai budaya Cina dan Bahasa Mandarin, sehingga dapat menarik minat mereka mempelajari bahasa Mandarin

Abstract

In Chinese language, there are subcategories of nouns that can act as descriptions, namely locative nouns, place nouns, and time nouns. The description in the sentence is before or after the subject so that the structure of the Chinese sentence starts from the adverbial, subject, predicate, object or subject, adverbial, predicate, object. In the learning process, language errors are unavoidable. Language errors can be used as research material to support language learning. This study aims to identify errors that arise in the use (sentence structure and diction) of locative nouns, place, and time as descriptions in Chinese sentences by 2017 students of the Chinese Language Education Study Program. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods. Research data were obtained through test instruments in the form of translation questions, filling in gaps, and arranging words. Research is limited to sentence structure errors and diction errors. The results showed that the error rate of using locative nouns, place, and time as adverbial in Chinese sentences was at a very low level. The percentage of sentence structure errors for translation questions is 4.8%, the percentage of diction errors for questions filling in gaps is 12.4%, and the percentage of word-composing questions is divided into two, namely sentence structure errors as much as 12.7%; diction error as much as 1.08%. The results of this study are expected to be input for teachers when teaching locative noun material, place and time as information.
