Abstract

Seiring dengan kebutuhan penguasaan Bahasa Mandarin yang semakin tinggi, maka kebutuhan terhadap guru Bahasa Mandarin yang memiliki kompetensi keguruan juga semakin tinggi. Namun, faktanya jumlah guru Bahasa Mandarin yang berlatar belakang pendidikan keguruan masih terbatas. Untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru pada kompetensi assessment, Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin (PSPBM) Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) menyelenggarakan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat berbasis penelitian. Kegiatan telah diselenggarakan secara bertahap selama dua tahun berturut-turut. Tahun 2023 adalah lokakarya tahap kedua mengenai bentuk latihan keterampilan menyimak dan keterampilan menulis bahasa Mandarin. Kegiatan dihadiri 78 peserta yang terdiri dari guru Bahasa Mandarin di tingkat SMA sederajat serta calon guru Bahasa Mandarin dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Melalui kegiatan lokakarya peserta lokakarya mendapatkan pengetahuan mengenai tren bentuk latihan menyimak dan menulis Bahasa Mandarin. Selain itu, peserta lokakarya juga memperoleh ruang diskusi untuk berbagi informasi tentang bentuk-bentuk latihan menyimak dan menulis serta tantangan yang dihadapi guru di sekolah saat memberikan  latihan bahasa Mandarin tersebut.

Abstract

In Chinese language, there are subcategories of nouns that can act as descriptions, namely locative nouns, place nouns, and time nouns. The description in the sentence is before or after the subject so that the structure of the Chinese sentence starts from the adverbial, subject, predicate, object or subject, adverbial, predicate, object. In the learning process, language errors are unavoidable. Language errors can be used as research material to support language learning. This study aims to identify errors that arise in the use (sentence structure and diction) of locative nouns, place, and time as descriptions in Chinese sentences by 2017 students of the Chinese Language Education Study Program. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods. Research data were obtained through test instruments in the form of translation questions, filling in gaps, and arranging words. Research is limited to sentence structure errors and diction errors. The results showed that the error rate of using locative nouns, place, and time as adverbial in Chinese sentences was at a very low level. The percentage of sentence structure errors for translation questions is 4.8%, the percentage of diction errors for questions filling in gaps is 12.4%, and the percentage of word-composing questions is divided into two, namely sentence structure errors as much as 12.7%; diction error as much as 1.08%. The results of this study are expected to be input for teachers when teaching locative noun material, place and time as information.

Abstract

In the midst of teachers and students’ effort to adapt to the era of technological disruption and global competition, the Covid-19 pandemic has become a catalyst for learning models changing all over the world. The Chinese Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts, State University of Jakarta (PSPBM FBS UNJ) is also developing online distance learning. This paper mainly discusses the evaluation of the implementation of online distance learning for speaking skills at PSPBM UNJ, including the learning media used, the obstacles faced and how online distance learning affects the motivation of students. This study uses quantitative and qualitative methods through surveys and qualitative analysis in the discussion. Respondents are students and lecturers of PSPBM. This evaluation research is the basis for further research on the development of an online distance learning model for Chinese language speaking skills. The results of this research can be integrated into consideration for policy makers in determining the policies needed to improve the quality of learning; can also be a very important input for course instructors so that they can think more creatively and provide solutions in realizing interesting, efficient, and useful lecture activities for students; as well as being input and consideration for the general public who are related to online distance learning in determining the various attitudes needed to improve the quality of online distance learning.

Abstract

Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic has become one of the catalysts for learning models changes around the world, including Mandarin Language Education Study Program Faculty of Languages ​​and Arts, State University of Jakarta also adapted online distance learning.This article focuses on online distance learning evaluation of basic reading skills courses held at PSPBM UNJ. The scopes of this research are the learning media used, technical constraints and efforts to overcome, and how online distance learning affects students motivation.This research uses quantitative and qualitative methods, by conducting surveys, and using qualitative analysis in the discussion. This research instrument is a mixed questionnaire, which is a combination of open and closed questionnaires using google form. Respondents are PSPBM students and lecturers. This research data are information related to media, obstacles and efforts, also motivation.The results of this research are reading skills online distance learning reading skills used several learning media, such Whatsapp, Zoom, Google Classroom, online game applications. The use of learning media encourage lecturers creativity to choose and use appropriate learning models. In addition, online distance learning also demands student independence in learning. There is a student-centered learning model using project-based learning (such as audio/video recordings of reading words, phrases, sentences, texts) and problem-based learning (such as reading comprehension, discussion) which can be implemented in learning reading skills.

Abstract

The translation is a process of transferring meaning from the source language to the target language. The translation process itself requires appropriate translation techniques in order to produce an acceptable translation in source language. Likewise, idiom or  chengyu has its own translation techniques. This study aims to analyze the chengyu translation technique in the Chinese web novel “Di Yi Qi Shao” which has been translated to the Indonesian version called “Menantu Palsu” using the idiom translation theory introduced by Nida and Taber which are from idioms to non-idioms; from idioms to idioms; and from non-idioms to idioms. This research is a qualitative descriptive analysis using the content analysis technique as a data analysis technique. The research uses the idiom translation method from Nida and Taber as a reference. The data of this study consists of 196 chengyu contained in chapter 1 until chapter 25 of the web novel.The study results showed that 155 chengyu (79.08%) were translated from idioms to non-idioms technique and six chengyu (3.06%) were translated by from idioms to idioms technique. Apart from using those two techniques, 35 chengyu (17.86%) were not translated. The results of the study also show that in the process of translation, there is a similar chengyu, each being translated by the same translation technique, but there is also a similar chengyu on several occurrences: some were not translated. In addition, there are similar chengyu which on its several occurernces, were translated by similar techniques but resulted in different translations.

Abstract

In developing reading skills teaching materials, it is necessary to have reading texts as support. These reading texts were chosen not only because of their vocabulary corresponds to the level of the teaching materials, but also because they are qualified reading texts. One of the criteria for a good reading text is that it contains moral values ​​such as folklore books. This study has several objectives to find out the moral values ​​contained in the story book Kuafu Zhui Ri namely: (1) contains the core form of Confucius' teachings of Ai ren, (2) shows the principles of implementing the teachings of Confucius of Xiaodi, (3) shows the stages of implementing the teachings of Confucius of Zhong and Shu. The data in this study are limited to Chinese sentences in stories that contain moral values. The entire data is classified based on the core form, the principle of implementation and the stages of implementing moral values ​​according to the teachings of Confucius. The findings in this study are that the folklore of Kuafu Zhui Ri contains the moral values ​​of Confucius' teachings, which consist of (1) loving others, (2) filial piety, and (3) loyalty and forgiveness. Based on the research findings, it is hoped that the Kuafu Zhui Ri folklore can be applied in the world of education and used as a reference or input by the UNJ Mandarin Language Education Study Program when choosing reading texts in the development of textbooks for reading skills.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has made the education world adapt rapidly. During this pandemic era, the face-to-face learning is avoided and distance learning (PJJ) is adaptively applied at various levels of education, neither formal nor non-formal. In its implementation, distance learning is institutional-based learning activity and is a part of formal education, so it has different forms and tools differ from so called self-taught learning. More over, educational interactions between teachers and students are carried out at a distance apart. Necessarily, distance learning should be implemented with careful planning and preparation. Considering the fact that most of the distance learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic were carried out suddenly and without prior planning, this paper is expected to provide input to the organizers of this sudden distance learning. This paper provides a description of PJJ, including types of PJJ, PJJ teaching materials, and PJJ constellations.

Abstract

Abstract:In tonal languages such as Mandarin, tone is a suprasegmental phoneme that can distinguish meaning. A certain syllable can undergo a change in tone, depending on the syllable that comes after it. One of the changes in tone that often occurs is the change in tone bu, which means "no". This study aims to find out the forms and causes of pronunciation errors in the change in tone bu in Mandarin learners. The research data was taken from the audio recordings of 12 students of the Advanced Reading and Writing I Study Program of the Chinese Language Education Study Program, State University of Jakarta. The method used is an error analysis method with a qualitative approach. The results showed that there were phonological errors, with the cause of the error being the result of negative transfer of understanding the target language and negative transfer of mother tongue.

Abstract

Bahasa Mandarin telah menjadi salah satu bahasa asing yang diminati di Indonesia dan diajarkan dari jenjang taman kanak-kanak hingga perguruan tinggi. Pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin dari dahulu hingga saat ini mengalami berbagai perkembangan kondisi. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kondisi pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di masa Orde Baru. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan sejarah. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan metode dokumentasi. Sumber data di antaranya adalah artikel koran, buku, serta dokumen lain yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di masa Orde Baru, bahasa Mandarin pada khususnya dan kebudayaan Tionghoa pada umumnya mengalami pembatasan ketat. Hal ini berhubungan dengan kampanye anti komunisme dan kebijakan asimilasi yang diterapkan pemerintah Orde Baru terhadap masyarakat etnis Tionghoa. Kebijakan tersebut menyebabkan pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin pada masa tersebut sempat terhenti dan hanya dapat dipelajari secara terbatas. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menggambarkan kondisi pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di Indonesia pada masa Orde Baru serta dampaknya terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di Indonesia pada saat ini.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 membuat pengajar dan pemelajar perlu melakukan penyesuaian. Untuk melatih produksi dan interaksi dalam keterampilan berbicara bahasa Mandarin, salah satu penyesuaian yang dilakukan adalah dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran berbasis konferensi video. Kondisi pandemi telah mengakibatkan adanya 2 angkatan mahasiswa PSPBM UNJ yang sejak awal belum pernah mengikuti pembelajaran tatap muka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa PSPBM UNJ yang belum pernah mengikuti pembelajaran tatap muka terhadap pemanfaatan media pembelajaran berbasis konferensi video dalam PJJ keterampilan berbicara tingkat dasar. Persepsi diteliti menggunakan teori Davis mengenai Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) yakni dilihat dari kemudahan pengguna dan kebermanfaatan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode survey. Responden pada penelitian ini adalah 45 orang mahasiswa PSPBM UNJ angkatan 2020 dan 2021 peserta mata kuliah menyimak dan berbicara dasar tahun akademik 2020/2021 dan 2021/2022. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan menurut mahasiswa yang belum pernah mengikuti pembelajaran tatap muka, media pembelajaran berbasis konferensi video yang digunakan PJJ keterampilan berbicara bahasa Mandarin mudah digunakan dan bermanfaat. Hal ini dapat dijadikan pertimbangan untuk melanjutkan penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis konferensi video sebagai media PJJ daring keterampilan berbicara bahasa Mandarin tingkat dasar.
