Abstract

Pain in postoperative Femur Fracture patients must be addressed immediately because it has an impact on the patient's healing process, because it can affect psychological and physiological conditions. Benson relaxation is one of the methods that can reduce pain, this technique is able to reduce the activity of the sympathetic nerves that control pain, causing a feeling of calm and comfort and will affect the decrease in pain intensity. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Benson Relaxation on reducing pain intensity in post-femoral fracture surgery patients at Meuraxa Hospital Banda Aceh in 2019. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental pre test and post test one group, the number of samples in this study was 14 respondents. Consecutive sampling sampling technique. The time of this research was carried out on June 04 to July 22, 2019. The data were processed using paired t-test and Independent t-test statistical tests. The results of the study used paired t-test statistical tests. It shows that there is a significant difference in pain intensity before and after Benson Relaxation in postoperative femur fracture patients with p value 0.000 (P < 0.05), and the results of the study using the Independent t-test statistic test showed that there was a significant difference in pain intensity between the experimental group and the experimental group. control group of postoperative Femur Fracture patients with p value 0.010 (P < 0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a significant effect on pain intensity after Benson Relaxation in postoperative Femur Fracture patients. It is hoped that patients and nurses can apply the Benson Relaxation Technique after Fracture surgery.

Abstract

Nurses are the health profession with the most number when compared to other health professions. The competence of nurses in emergency preparedness is obtained through the educational process in higher education including knowledge, skills and attitudes in dealing with emergencies caused by disasters. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of nursing students about emergency preparedness in disasters. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method using Scale of Perception of Disaster Preparedness among Nurses (SPDPN) questionnaire which consists of 3 (three) components, namely the preparation stage, intervention stage and post-disaster stage. The respondents of this study were 49 students of the Diploma Three Nursing Program in Banda Aceh. The results showed that the mean value for the Preparation Stage is 4.4, the Intervention Stage is 4 and the Post Disaster Stage is 4. The conclusion from this study is nursing students' perceptions for emergency nursing showed a positive perception. Beside it the learning process followed by the simulations can increase students' confidence in dealing with disasters.

Abstract

Around 80% of postoperative patients complain about pain on the surgical area, the impact of postoperative pain can disrupt a person's sleep needs. This study aims to determine the relationship between pain intensity and the need for sleep in the postoperative of lower extremity fracture patients at Meuraxa Hospital in Banda Aceh. Data were collected for 30 days in the Al-Bayyan 2 and 3 of Surgical Inpatient Rooms at Meuraxa Hospital in Banda Aceh. The research used a correlation method with a cross sectional approach with 43 total respondents. The Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI)questionnaires were used  to measure pain scale and sleep needs. Then the data was processed using a computer device. The results of this study showed that pain intensity from 27 respondents (62.8%) of postoperative patients with lower extremity fractures at Meuraxa Hospital Banda Aceh 2022 was at severe  and the need for sleep from 31 respondents (72, 1%) was in a bad category. The bivariate analysis showed that the value of p = 0.004 and ɑ = 0.05 (p value < ɑ) meaning that Ha is accepted. There is a relationship between pain intensity and the need for sleep in postoperative lower extremity fracture patients at Meuraxa Hospital in Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Background: The 2004 Tsunami in Aceh caused infrastructure damage, thousands of deaths, and significant economic and health crises. Health facilities such as Community Health Centers (Puskesmas) which are the main health facilities in saving patients' lives were destroyed. To overcome this impact, health infrastructure must be rebuilt with earthquake-resistant building structures using certain materials and systems to withstand vertical and lateral loads that occur during earthquakes. In addition, nurses as primary health workers must have sufficient knowledge and skills to prevent loss of life if the disaster occurs through disaster mitigation preparedness. Purpose:  To identify the geographical distribution of Puskesmas locations in Banda Aceh City based on the level of tsunami risk and assess the level of knowledge of nurses' preparedness in facing disaster situations. Methods: Descriptive research type with spatial analysis method was used in this study. The data used included topographic maps, tsunami risk maps, and Puskesmas locations, which were analyzed using ArcGIS software. For nurses' knowledge level data, the population used was the entire number of nurses at the Banda Aceh City Puskesmas and used a total sampling technique which resulted in a sample of 87 nurses. Results: The study showed that 7 out of 11 Puskesmas (63.6%) in Banda Aceh were in the moderate to high tsunami risk zone. The level of knowledge of nurses regarding tsunami disaster preparedness was mostly good, namely 65 people (75%). Conclusion: Almost half of the Puskesmas in Banda Aceh are geographically located in the high tsunami risk zone category and the level of knowledge of community health center nurses regarding tsunami disaster preparedness is mostly good.

Abstract

Background: Hospital-acquired nosocomial infections, which cause more than 100,000 patient deaths each year, are often associated with poor nurse compliance with prevention guidelines, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Compliance with PPE effectively reduces the risk of infection, but several studies have shown low levels of nurse compliance, associated with unfavorable work environments, high workloads, and lack of knowledge and competence. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, compliance with PPE has become increasingly important in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. Purpose: To determine the factors related to the level of nurse compliance in using PPE. Methods: This study uses a literature study method to explore factors related to the level of nurses' compliance in using PPE. Data were taken from articles published from January 2023 to January 2024 through the Pubmed National Library of Medicine database. Article searches were limited by the criteria of articles having full text, in English, and keywords used in the search including compliance, nurses, personal protective equipment (PPE), and nosocomial infections. Results: Research shows that nurses' knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, education, training, and motivation play a significant role in increasing awareness of PPE use. In addition, adequate provision of PPE, supporting facilities, safety culture, hospital organizational commitment, and government regulations also determine compliance. Conclusion: Although the availability of PPE facilities is a major contribution to prevention, nurse preparedness is needed to reduce disease transmission and ensure that the health care system continues to function during times of crisis, especially during the spread of infectious diseases.

Abstract

Background: Cases of deviations in the cognitive development of toddlers in Indonesia are still very high. The latest data shows that around 62.02% of toddlers experience this problem. One of the causes is a lack of nutritious food intake and of course this is influenced by the parenting style given by mothers of toddlers, including the mother's level of knowledge and attitudes regarding providing nutritious food. Purpose: To determine the relationship between mothers' knowledge and attitudes about providing nutritious food on the cognitive development of toddlers Methods: This research is a quantitative and cross-sectional design. The study population consists of households with children under five years old and a sample of 45. The search ran from December 2022 to January 2023 in Bale Busu Village. Data analysis using Chi-Square Test includes primary data and secondary data. Results: Based on the research results, it was found that knowledge had a p-value of 0.025, while the attitude p-value was 0.023. Both values are <0.05, so there is a relationship between mother's knowledge and attitudes about providing nutritious food on the cognitive development of toddlers. Conclusion: : There is a relationship between maternal knowledge and attitudes about the provision of nutritious food to early childhood cognitive development.
