Abstract

The aim of the study was to find out whether or not it is significantly effective to teach speaking by using describing picture strategy to the seventh-grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Qur’aniah Mataram. The researcher used a Pre-Experimental design. The researcher used a performance test in the form of an oral test. The data were collected by using Brown's theory. The findings of this study are that significantly effective in teaching speaking by using the describing picture strategy to the seventh-grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Qur'aniah Mataram.

Abstract

The problem of this research was to answer whether it was significantly effective or not to use Make a Match technique in teaching Descriptive Text to the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Lubuklinggau in the Academic Year 2022/2023. In addition, the objective in conducting this research was to find out the effectiveness of this technique in teaching descriptive text. Here, quasi-experimental research with total population 417 students was used by the researcher. Then, the researcher used cluster random sampling included 71 students from class VII.5 and VII.6. From the investigation which had been done by the researcher, it was found out that tobtained was 5.473 which was higher than ttable 1.667. It can be concluded that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Finally, there was a significant difference achievement between students who were taught and were not taught by using Make a Match technique.

Abstract

This research aimed to prove that teaching reading comprehension by using Read-Cover-Remember-Retell (RCRR) strategy of recount text to eighth grade students at SMP N 2 Lubuklinggau was significantly effective. The method was used Pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was the eighth grade students consisted of 412 students. Simple random sampling was used and the sample selected was class VIII.2 consisted of students. The instrument was multiple choice test used to collecting the data of this research. The result showed the significant difference between the students mean score in the pre-test and post test. The average score in the pre-test was 63.94 while in the post-test was 73.15. The t-obtained was 7.54 higher than 1.688 in t-table. Therefore, the researcher found that teaching reading comprehension by using Read-Cover-Remember-Retell (RCRR) strategy to the eighth grade students of SMP N 2 Lubuklinggau was effective. Finally, that can be stated the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected.

Abstract

Program Studi Sistem Informasi merupakan salah satu program studi yang ada di STMIK BNJ Lubuklinggau yang menggabungkan beberapa bidang keilmuan, yaitu ilmu komputer, manajemen dan bisnis. Dalam proses pembelajarannya, mahasiswa tidak hanya membuat suatu produk teknologi, tetapi juga mampu mempresentasikan produk teknologi tersebut. Kemampuan presentasi sebuah produk teknologi sangat mutlak diperlukan. Kemampuan ini mendasari kesuksesan mahasiswa dalam menjawab tantangan dunia kerja. Pelatihan Fundamental Spoken English dalam Meningkatkan Kemampuan Presentasi Software ( English for Specific Purposes: Information System Students at STMIK BNJ Lubuklinggau) bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris tentang bagaimana mahasiswa Sistem Informasi mempresentasikan software dengan baik dan penuh percaya diri. Metode yang digunakan adalah drill dalam bentuk diskusi dan presentasi melalui pelatihan selama 4 pertemuan. Jumlah peserta pelatihan adalah 27 mahasiswa. Hasil PPM yang ingin dicapai yaitu terlaksananya pembelajaran tentang teori presentasi, praktik dan keahlian presentasi Bahasa Inggris.. Kegiatan PPM ini melibatkan 3 orang mahasiswa Universitas PGRI Silampari yang diharapkan dapat memberikan pengalaman diluar kampus bagi mereka tentang bagaimana mempersiapkan administrasi pelatihan, mempersiapkan materi dan perlengkapan serta melihat secara nyata proses pelatihan English Presentation yang melibatkan mahasiswa Sistem Informasi sebagai peserta. Dengan diikutsertakan mereka dalam pelatihan ini, diharapkan mereka kelak memiliki keterampilan mumpuni untuk melaksanakan pelatihan dengan materi yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat. Pengabdian ini juga memberikan dampak positif bagi dosen sebagai pelatihan yang terencana, dan berdampak pada masyarakat, yakni para peserta menjadi mahir dan percaya diri ketika berbicara di depan umum dalam bahasa Inggris karena telah melalui latihan yang terstruktur dan intensif serta sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Selain itu dosen juga menambah pengalaman berkoordinasi dengan mitra, bekerjasama, melakukan aktivitas pembelajaran bermanfaat tidak hanya di dalam kampus tapi juga diluar kampus. Selain itu, Materi English for Presentation dapat digunakan oleh dosen sebagai bahan ajar pada Mata Kuliah Public Speaking. Skill Speaking ini juga akan dijadikan sebagai akar ilmu bagi dosen dalam melaksanakan penelitian, sehingga menjadi rangkaian tri dharma perguruan tinggi yang tidak terpisah.
