Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berbicara melalui teknik dua tinggal dua bertamu. Penelitian ini adalah quasi-experimental non-equivalent kontrol grup desain. Populasinya adalah siswa kelas XI di SMA Negeri 5 Palu. Kelas eksperimental terdiri dari 30 siswa dan kelas kontrol terdiri dari 30 siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam enam kali pertemuan. Variabelnya adalah keterampilan berbicara dan teknik dua tinggal dua (pergi ) bertamu. Sampelnya adalah siswa kelas XI IPA III dan XI IPA IV, dipilih melalui teknik pengambilan sampel purposif. Hasilnya menandakan bahwa penerapan teknik dua tinggal dua bertamu telah mengatasi masalah pada siswa. Setelah menganalisis data, hasil t-hitung adalah 3.3. Dengan aplikasi df 58 (30+30-2), dan taraf signifikan 0.05, nilai t-table adalah 2.00, maka nilai t-hitung lebih besar dari pada nilai t-tabel. Hal ini berarti bahwa hipotesis dari penelitian ini diterima. Jadi, teknik dua tinggal dua bertamu dapat diterapkan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berbicara siswa pada kelas XI SMA Negeri 5 Palu. Kata Kunci: Mengembangkan, Keterampilan Berbicara, dan Teknik Dua Tinggal Dua Bertamu.

Problem identified in this research was the speaking ability of first semester students at international class of Communication Science Department of Tadulako University consider very poor. Students were not brave in expressing their opinion, they tend to be silent during the learning process.This research intends to improve speaking skill through the application of digital storytelling. This is a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research was 20 first semester students at international class of Communication Science Department, Tadulako University. This research was conducted in 16 meetings during the first semester. The variable was speaking skill and technique applied was digital storytelling. Data showed that score of t-counted (3.3) is higher than the t-table (2.00). It means that the hypothesis is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that Digital storytelling can improve speaking skill.

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan dan melatihkan pelajar menggunakan strategi belajar metakognitif untuk menjawab soal tes kemahiran bahasa Inggris. Metode yang diterapkan adalah pelatihan tentang penerapan strategi metakognitif melalui model Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach. Peserta pelatihan adalah pelajar kelas sepuluh SMA An Nur Buuts Palu. Sebelum pelatihan dilaksanakan pelajar mengerjakan pretes dan setelah pelatihan pelajar mengerjakan postes. Pelatihan berlangsung dari tanggal 3 Juni sampai dengan 3 Juli 2021 secara tatap muka dan tatap maya. Data hasil pretes dan postes diolah menggunakan SPSS for Windows. Pelajar memperoleh pengetahuan tentang bagaimana mengerjakan ujian kemahiran berbahasa Inggris melalui pelatihan ini yang dibuktikan dengan peningkatan yang signifikan antara pencapaian pelajar pada hasil pretes dan hasil postes yang diukur melalui uji Paired Samples T-Test. Pelajar mememperoleh manfaat besar dari pelatihan ini bahwa dengan mengetahui strategi yang efektif, yaitu strategi metakognif, kemampuan mengerjakan uji kemahiran berbahasa Inggris dapat meningkat. Abstract: This community service activity aims to train learners to use metacognitive learning strategies to answer English proficiency test. The method applied was training on the implementation of metacognitive strategies through Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach model. The participants of the training were the year ten learners of SMA An Nur Buuts Palu. Before training, the learners did pretest and after training they did posttest. The training was conducted from June 3 to July 3, 2021, both face-to-face and online. The pretest and posttest results were analyzed by applying SPSS for Windows. The results indicate that the training provides learners with knowledges on how to effectively do English proficiency test which is proven by the significant increase on the achievement from the pretest’s results to posttest’s results. The participants aware on the potential contributions of the training that by knowing effective strategies, metacognitive strategies, their achievement in doing English proficiency test is improved.

This study aims to find out the influence of group-based blended learning towards the listening skill. The research design used was experimental one group pre- and post-tests. The study sample consisted of 22 students of class X SMA An Nur Buuts Palu which was drawn purposively. Learners were given pretest and then treatment both face-to-face teaching mode and virtually and posttest after the treatment conducted. The data were analyzed using Descriptive Statistics Analysis through SPSS for windows version 22. The results of the data analysis show that the mean of the pretest (N = 23) is 34.96 and the standard deviation is 3,391, the mean of the posttest (N = 23) is 42.09 and the standard deviation is 4,368. The results of pretest and posttest are normally distributed based on the results of the Shapiro-Wilk analysis (N < 50) sig. 0.070 > 0.05 for pretest and 0.064 > 0.05 for posttest. From the results of the Paired Samples T-Test test, it is found that the mean of the pretest (34.96) is lower than the mean of the posttest (42.09), the correlation coefficient is sig. 0.059 > 0.05 with a significance level of sig. 0.791 > 0.05, and the Paired Samples T-Test results show a significance value of sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05. This data shows that there is a significant difference between the results of the pretest and the posttest. It implies that the application of group-based blended learning significantly influences the listening skills of the students.

The learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic was carried out online at all levels of education. Online learning makes the use of information technology becomes the concern for teachers, students, and parents. This study aims to analyze the problems faced or experienced by students when learning English during the Covid-19 era. This study uses a survey research design. The population of the study were students of SMK Mandalasila Palu while the research subjects were students of Class XI. The convenience sampling technique was used to choose 25 students as the research sample. Data was collected using a questionnaire then the data were analyzed descriptively. The analysis of the data revealed three issues that students in the Covid-19 era encountered when studying online, technical issues, issues with the teaching and learning process, and external issues. Internet network and application utilization difficulties are the most significant technical problems. Student independence, application of learning processes, tasks, and student inactivity are some of the issues with learning and teaching. External issues include students' incapacity to provide internet quota, as well as the state of their home during the online learning process. The findings of this study suggest that it is crucial to invest in the infrastructure and facilities needed to enable online learning, both at schools and in the areas where students reside.

Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya temuan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh para peneliti pada tahun 2022. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa materi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris pada Fakultas Hukum, Untad harus memperhatikan materi ajar yang sesui dengan disiplin ilmu mahasiswa dan perlu memperbanyak latihan-latihan peraktik berbicara bahasa Inggris untuk tujuan khusus hukum (legal purposes) dan juga diperkaya dengan materi-materi ‘legal terms’ yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan mahasiswa di masa akan datang setelah selesai kuliah. Hasil penelitian ini, kami menindaklanjuti dalam bentuk Pengabdian Desiminasi Hasil Penelitian. Pengabdian yang dilakukan adalah menyahuti keinginan mahasiswa, sehingga model pengabdian ini berupa pelatihan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris untuk tujuan khusus hukum (legal purposes) kepada para peserta pelatihan. Tentu saja, pelatihan ini lebih banyak peraktik-peraktik berbicara bahasa Inggris yang simple melalui teknik ‘Information Gap Activity’ yang dikemas dalam model bermain peran (role play), dimana peserta pelatihan diberikan peran masing-masing dalam pelatihan ini. Tujuan pelatihan ini adalah untuk memotivasi peserta agar lebih bergairah belajar dan senang berbicara bahasa Inggris dan meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara, khususnya bahasa Inggris untuk kebutuhan-kebutuhan khusus bahasa Inggris hukum (legal purposes) dan legal terms. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa bersemangat, termotivasi, dan merasa senang dan bebas merespon dan menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang diberikan kepada parner simulasi bicara mereka. Peserta pelatihan berupaya mengemukakan pendapatnya dalam bahasa Inggris meskipun peserta sering menggabungkan bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indonesia dalam merespon pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang ada. Selain daripada itu, pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang berkaitan dengan bahasa Inggris hukum (legal purposes) dan istilah istilah bahasa Inggris hukum (legal terms) sering terucap dalam merespon dan menanggapi pertanyaan yang ada. Pengabdi dapat mengatakan bahwa terjadi interaksi bahasa Inggris yang positif sesuai dengan peran masing-masing peserta.

The Literacy Programme is an innovative initiative designed to increase the mastery of reading interest in students at MAN Insan Cendekia Kota Palu. This programme is implemented by students who are members of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) programme with the aim of creating a fun and interactive learning environment. Through various activities such as reading stories, watching videos, and charades, students are given the opportunity to learn English in a more natural and fun way.This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Literacy programme in improving the mastery of reading interest in students at MAN Insan Cendekia Kota Palu. The results obtained showed that the approach implemented was able to increase students' interest and motivation in Literacy specifically reading in English, which led to a significant increase in their vocabulary mastery. The programme not only enriched students' knowledge, but also built their confidence in using English in daily life. This innovation and creative approach to learning is expected to be a model for other schools in their efforts to improve students' English competence.

Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya salah satu hasil penelitian tentang penguasaan bahasa Inggris di Indonesia yang masih rendah dan belum memberikan harapan yang baik. Data menunjukkan bahwa materi grammar bahasa Inggris paling membingungkan, diikuti oleh materi berbicara (speaking) sulit dipelajari. Dengan demikian tujuan dilakukan pengabdian ini adalah Peningkatan Minat Belajar Bahasa Inggris melalui Metode Small Group Discussion Siswa SMP IT Qurrota A’yun, Palu. Tahapan pelaksanaannya melalui metode pendekatan pembelajaran berupa kegiatan edukasi terhadap proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang merujuk pada proses belajar bersama dalam bentuk ‘Small Group Discussion’. Hasil pengabdian yang telah dilakukan dalam bentuk pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran ‘small group discussion’ membuat semua peserta didik aktif dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar, mengajarkan kepada peserta didik menghargai pendapat orang lain dan bekerjasama dengan teman yang lain, melatih dan mengembangkan sikap sosial dan demokratis siswa, meningkatkan keterampilan berkomunikasi bagi siswa, mempertinggi partisipasi peserta didik baik secara individual dalam kelompok maupun dalam kelas, dan mengembangkan pengetahuan mereka, karena saling bertukar pendapat antar siswa dalam kelompoknya.

The objective of the study is to find out the effectiveness of the English movie in teaching English speaking to grade seven students of SMPN 1 Mepanga in the academic year 2024/2025. The sample of this pre-experimental research was grading seven students of SMPN 1 Mepanga which consisted of 28 students of the VII D class chosen by using the purposive sampling technique. The data were collected by using a speaking test conducted before and after the treatment, or pre-test and post-test. The data was analyzed by using statistics methods. The result shows that there was a significant improvement in the student’s speaking ability. It was proved by the result of the t-counted (19.13) which was greater than the t-table (1.703) in the significance degree, (0.05). The conclusion of this research indicated that the English movie is effective in teaching English speaking in the classroom and provides a significant effect to improve the students’ speaking ability.

This study investigates the effectiveness of the dictogloss technique in improving the listening comprehension of eighth grade students at MTs Muhammadiyah Al-Haq Palu during the 2024/2025 academic year. Employing a pre-experimental quantitative design, the study involved all 25 students from the target class as participants. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test instruments, each comprising 10 fill-in-the-blank and 10 multiple-choice questions focused on narrative texts as a test. Dictogloss technique was implemented as the intervention, where students listened to passages, took notes on key points, and collaboratively reconstructed the texts. Statistical analysis revealed a significant improvement in students’ listening comprehension, with the mean score rising from 51.40 (pre-test) to 75.00 (post-test). The Shapiro-Wilk test confirmed normal data distribution, and paired sample t-tests indicated the improvement was statistically significant (p < 0.05). The findings suggest that dictogloss not only improves students’ ability to recognize spoken words and understand main ideas but also increases engagement, vocabulary acquisition, and collaborative skills. The study concludes that integrating the dictogloss technique into classroom instruction is an effective strategy for improving listening comprehension among junior high school students learning English as a foreign language.
