Abstract

Pak Pon's chicken noodle SME is a business that sells chicken noodles located in Surabaya. This SME operates by selling only one menu item, chicken noodles, with an average of 200 kg of noodles sold per month, and it still purchases its noodle ingredients from suppliers. Therefore, none of the processes in this SME use machines to prepare the ingredients for the chicken noodles. Given this situation, the researcher has an idea to create a tool that can help streamline the production process in this SME with the aim of increasing sales profit. This research uses cost analysis methods to determine the cost of production, followed by the NPV method to assess whether the equipment purchased by the SME is feasible. The results of this research show that there is a comparison between making the ingredients in-house versus purchasing them. The investment in equipment for the SME is considered feasible, as the payback can be achieved in a few months. This study recommends that the SME increase its sales beyond 200 kg per month in order for the project to proceed as planned. Keywords: Cost analysis, Noodle Dough Tool, NPV, Profit

Abstract

Despite its long-standing operation, the company faces several issues related to the production floor layout, such as inefficient material flow, high waiting times, and suboptimal space utilization. These problems have led to decreased productivity, time inefficiencies, and an uncomfortable work environment. This study aims to redesign the production floor layout using the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) method to improve material flow efficiency and productivity. The SLP method helps identify the relationships between activities and design an optimal layout by minimizing material transfer distances, reducing waiting times, and creating a more comfortable workspace. The research results are expected to provide optimal solutions for maximizing the efficiency of material handling distance and time while demonstrating the positive impact of layout changes on material handling costs. This study successfully redesigned the production facility layout to enhance operational efficiency. Changes were made to facilities C, D2, P, G, J, and I, along with the relocation of machine K and the removal of cutting machine H, which was no longer in use. The results showed a significant reduction in material transfer distances, from 23,457.5 meters to 13,194.65 meters per month (a 43.9% reduction). Additionally, material transfer times decreased from 438.41 minutes to 298.23 minutes per month (a 31.98% reduction). A comparison between the initial and proposed layouts revealed a reduction in material handling costs from IDR 269,738 to IDR 206,452 per month, resulting in savings of 23.46%. The layout optimization proved effective in reducing material flow inefficiencies, directly impacting operational cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Abstract

The Surajaya Stadium Tribune foundation consists of 772 concrete piles divided into three zones with varying compression and tensile capacities, necessitating verification for safety and efficiency. This study evaluates the effectiveness of static versus dynamic testing methods for determining the tensile capacity of these piles. The analysis employs Driving Record, Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA), and CAPWAP methods, focusing on three evaluation approaches: Minimum Bearing Capacity Factor (FDDmin), Average Bearing Capacity Factor (FDDavg), and CAPWAP Friction Bearing Capacity. Results indicate that all methods yield a safety factor (SF) exceeding 2, confirming compliance with design criteria, with average SF of 2.73 (FDDmin), 3.02 (FDDavg), and 2.51 (CAPWAP). Additionally, substituting static tensile tests with modified dynamic tests can save up to 36 days and Rp 1,299,077,600 in costs. While dynamic methods offer efficiency, they may compromise data accuracy, highlighting the need for experienced vendors and calibrated equipment to enhance testing precision.

Abstract

The development of transportation infrastructure plays a pivotal role in supporting regional economic growth, particularly in areas undergoing rapid industrial and residential expansion. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis between rigid pavement (concrete) and flexible pavement (asphalt) in terms of cost efficiency and implementation time on the Kedamean Sidoraharjo Randegan road section in Gresik Regency, East Java. The region’s strategic position, reinforced by the operation of the Krian Legundi Bunder Manyar (KLBM) toll road, has significantly increased traffic flow, thereby creating an urgent need for durable and sustainable road infrastructure. This research employs a quantitative descriptive approach by integrating traffic projections (Average Daily Traffic or LHR) for the 20th and 40th year horizons, CESAL calculations (Cumulative Equivalent Standard Axle Load), and pavement structure design using the MDPJ 2017 method for flexible pavement and Pd T-14-2003 for rigid pavement. Additionally, cost estimations are based on regional unit prices issued by the Gresik Regency Public Works Department. Findings indicate that although flexible pavement offers shorter construction time and lower initial costs, rigid pavement proves more cost-effective in the long run due to its durability and lower maintenance needs. The study also highlights that utilizing existing pavement layers can reduce construction costs by up to 10%, aligning with sustainable infrastructure practices. The results are expected to serve as a practical guideline for civil engineering practitioners and local governments in making strategic decisions regarding pavement type selection based on traffic intensity, budget availability, and long-term development goals.
