Abstract

Traditional markets play a crucial role in developing local products, with a focus on sustainable performance. Most of the traders in the traditional market come from small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which tend to struggle with increasing sustainability performance practices, often facing obstacles to supply chain integration as a catalyst. Thus, we examined the interaction effects between supply chain integration and sustainability performance, through agile capabilities and lean outsourcing as mediators from the perspective of Dynamic Capability Theory. This study uses partial least squares-structural equation modelling to explore structural relationships. The sample in this study consisted of 139 SME traders who had stalls in the Pancasari traditional market. The empirical results showed that the indirect positive statistical effect of agile capabilities and lean outsourcing on the linkage between supply chain integration and sustainability performance. Practically, encouraging SME traders to proactively build collaborative relationships with suppliers, distributors, and customers that share information on demand forecasts and enable rapid response to change through agile capabilities. Additionally, lean operations enable traders to systematically identify and eliminate waste by mapping work processes to pinpoint inefficiencies within the business.

Abstract

Work-life balance contributes to a healthy, satisfying, and successful life. An imbalance in work-life dynamics can negatively impact both employee performance and their personal lives. This study employs exchange relationship theory to explore organizational commitment as a mediating variable, which includes affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment, in the relationship between work-life balance and employee performance. The research focuses on employees of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Salatiga Regency. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 111 respondents, and the analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling. The findings reveal that affective and continuance commitments are crucial in linking work-life balance to employee performance. In contrast, normative commitment does not significantly influence this relationship. Theoretically, social exchange theory highlights that continuance commitment is a key mediator in the connection between work-life balance and employee performance.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between total quality management (TQM) and employee performance by identifying key mediating factors, namely innovative work behaviour and dynamic absorptive capacity. The research investigates how these mediators enhance the effectiveness of TQM in improving employee productivity and performance within manufacturing firms. A research framework was developed and tested using data collected from 114 employees working in manufacturing companies in Salatiga. The data were analysed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that TQM positively influences employee performance, while innovative work behaviour and dynamic absorptive capacity serve as significant mediating variables. Furthermore, both mediators strengthen the relationship between TQM and employee performance. These results suggest that managers should cultivate an innovative work environment by empowering employees to work independently and think creatively. In addition, top management should encourage continuous learning and the application of new knowledge in the workplace to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Abstract

The main focus of this research is to identify the relationship between asset specificity, contractual and relational governance, and supply chain performance. Transaction Cost Economics and Social Exchange Theory are the theoretical foundations of this research, which aims to investigate the mediating effect of contractual and relational governance on human and physical asset specificity. This study involved 162 supporting vendors in the oil and gas industry. Furthermore, PLS-SEM was used to analyze the data, which showed that physical asset specificity positively affected supply chain performance, but human asset specificity did not. Contractual governance also positively mediated the relationship between asset specificity and supply chain performance, but relational governance had no effect. The companies are expected to have policies focused on business contracts that serve as guidelines for conducting business. Managers, production sharing contractors, and supporting vendors should develop a framework based on contractual governance. This allows them to maintain occupational safety, improve company quality, and address business challenges, particularly costs, energy, and time in operational systems within the oil and gas industry.
