Abstract

Dalam rangka menghadapi perubahan sosial, budaya, dan kemajuan teknologi yang begitu pesat, pemahaman masyarakat akan menggunakan sosial media harus ditingkatkan agar dapat lebih bijak dalam bersosial media. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini telah dilaksanakan dibeberapa lokasi di Desa Tabanga Kecamatan Ternate Barat seperti di sekolah SD, dan SMA. Dalam kegiatan ini kami telah melaksanakan penyuluhan mengenai etika dan moral dalam bersosial media dengan memberikan materi secara langsung kepada siswa. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yaitu memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang pentingnya etika dan moral dalam bersosial media. Tak hanya itu maraknya berita hoax yang beredar di dunia maya membuat banyak orang yang keliru dalam mendapatkan informasi dan berujung pada diskriminasi atau kebencian terhadap beberapa kelompok. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yaitu memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang pentingnya etika dan moral dalam bersosial media.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the use of task-based learning method in enhance students' reading comprehension. This research used a quantitative method. The sample consisted of 24 students of class VIII-2 SMP Negeri 5 Kota Ternate. The data collected through pretest and posttest. In collecting the data, multiple choice tests were used in the form of an instrument. The result of this research shown that the result of posttest scores higher than pretest. The average score of students’ pretests was 51.875 while the average score of posttests was 75.25. The t-statistical value was 7.81 which was higher than t-critical value 1.714 at significance level (0,05) and the degree of freedom of 23 used one tailed test. Based on the data, it was found that using task-based learning can enhance students’ reading comprehension. The students have a positive response to task-based learning as a method to improve students' ability in reading comprehension. It can be seen that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results.

Abstract

Project Based Learning (PjBL) method can be as an alternative that might be used to solve problems in learning writing. This research aims to investigate whether the use of the PjBL method can help students in improving their ability and creativity in writing descriptive texts and explore the students’ perceptions regarding the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) method in writing. This research was conducted at FKIP Khairun University. The data sources as subjects in this research were 21 students in the English Language Education Study Program who were currently implementing courses English for Ecotourism. This research is pre-experimental research with quantitative research methods. Data collection methods were pre-test, post-test and using questionnaires. The results of this study show that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. The average score on the pre-test was 57.10 and the average score on the post-test was 84.95. T- calculated value = -9.337, sig value (2-tailed) = 0.001 <0.05. It means that the use of the PjBL method can improve student learning outcomes in descriptive writing learning. Based on the results of questionnaire analysis concerning the students’ perceptions of the implementation of the PjBL method in learning descriptive writing, the indicator of lecturer and student interaction was the highest with the "very good" category at 80.95%. It means that with the PjBL method, it is easier for students to interact with their lecturers in the learning process.
