Abstract

This research is focused on the effect of POSSE (Predict, Organize, Search, Summarize, Evaluate) strategy to the students ability in reading comprehension at grade I in SMA Tamansiswa Tapian Dolok. The problem of the research are: (1) Is there any significant effect of using POSSE strategy on students ability in reading comprehension narrative text? (2) Is there any significant effect without using POSSE strategy on students ability in reading comprehension narrative text? (3) What are the effect of using POSSE strategy on students ability in reading comprehension narrative text? The researcher uses the theory (Elin (2016);Fatma (2013);Gomez (2011);Grellet (1999);Pammun (2017);Patel and Jain (2008), Ashadi (2013);Dorn and Soffos (2005);Marlini (2016);Westwood (2001), Knapp and Watkins (2005). The methodology research is quantitative research. The data of this research was collected at grade I in SMA swasta Tamansiswa Tapian Dolok. The researcher used two classes as the sample, where one class was the experimental group and the other one was the control group. The instrument for collecting data was multiple choice for both groups. The data were analyzed by applying T-Test formula. The T-test is higher than T-table (8,86 1.67) at the level sigificant is 5% (0,05) with degree of freedom (df) 60 (31+312 = 60), it means that there is an affect of using POSSE (Predict, Organize, Search, Summarize, Evaluate) strategy to the students ability in reading comprehension. The conclusion is that the students could increase their ability in comprehending narrative text by using POSSE strategy that without POSSE strategy.

Abstract

Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program is one of the programs organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education and Research under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Kampus Mengajar program is one of the branch programs of Merdeka Belajar. Kampus Merdeka which has the aim of teaching, assisting technology, and school administration and teachers. One of the schools targeted by the Kampus Mengajar Program is SD Negeri 071169 which is located in Ombolata Village, Alasa District, North Nias Regency, North Sumatra. In this Kampus Mengajar program, students who are appointed to participate in the program have the responsibility of assisting the school in the teaching process, technology adaptation, and school administration. In addition, kampus mengajar students have the responsibility of improving student character and increasing student interest in learning, especially during this pandemic. The purpose of student participation in the Kampus Mengajar program is a process of adding relationships, gaining experience outside the world of lectures, developing students' insights, character and soft skills, encouraging and spurring national development by fostering student motivation to participate in equitable education, and increasing the role and real contribution of universities and students in educational development in Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Kolaborasi Dosen Praktisi Terhadap Self Efficacy Mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Ekonomi Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan populasi seluruh Mahasiswa Pendidikan Ekonomi Angkatan 2019 dan 2020 Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan yang berjumlah 45 orang mahasiswa sebagai sampel penelitian. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni Uji Normalitas,Uji Regresi Linear Sederhana, Koefisien Determinasi, Uji-t. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Kolaborasi Dosen Praktisi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Self Efficacy Mahasiswa dengan diperoleh persamaan Y=24,380+0,539X dengan pejelasan yang menunjukkan bahwa kolaborasi dosen praktisi yang dilakukan meningkat atau bertambah sebesar 1 satuan, maka prediksi self efficacy mahasiswa FKIP Pendidikan Ekonomi Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan akan meningkat sebesar 0,539 satuan. Uji hipotesis secara parsial (Uji-t) diperoleh thit >ttab atau 4,377>1,681 dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05. Yang dapat disimpulkan bahwa varibel bebas X (Kolaborasi Dosen Praktisi) memberi pengaruh signifikan terhadap variabel terikat Y (Self Efficacy Mahasiswa).

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out students' mistakes in writing explanatory text. For that the researcher will look at the results of student writing. The researcher wants to know what mistakes students make when writing explanatory texts and how these types of errors affect students' abilities in writing explanation texts. This research is qualitative in nature. Interviews were conducted to support the data obtained from students' answers to writing tests about explanatory texts. Interviews were used to find out the circumstances that led to student errors, and written tests were used to measure each student's learning level. As many as 32 fifth semester HKBP students from Nommensen University Medan took part. Based on student experiences, data analysis determines which types of errors are more common than the data. From the results of the written test, the authors found 119 data errors. There were 44 omission category errors made by 22 students; 29 errors in the addition category were made by 17 students; 24 errors in the misformation category were made by 11 students; 16 mistakes in the wrong misordering category were made by 13 students; 2 errors in the archive forms category were made by 2 students; 4 mistakes in the alternating form category were made by 3 students. Errors in student writing are caused by the following: Grammatical and vocabulary errors.

Abstract

Coherence is characterized by the use of supporting details arranged in such a way that the information intended to be conveyed, and the frequent use of time and sequences to convey supporting information can appear at once. This study explains how the fifth-semester students' mastery of the types of cohesion and coherence in writing recount texts and the difficulties faced by students. The data obtained came from students' writing tests in recount texts and interview tests. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. In this study, 20 fifth-semester students of English education study programs. Data analysis was found in the form of the number of each type of cohesion and coherence from the students' writing test and using the answers to the interview test. In the results of the writing test in writing recount text, the writer found 946 uses of cohesion and coherence devices, divided into 568 services of references (60.04%), 11 substitutions (1.16%), 8 ellipses (0.84%), 237 conjunction (25.05%), repetition of 47 (4.96%), then there are synonyms with 14 uses (1.47%), 1 antonym (0.10%), keywords repeated with as many as 21 uses (2.21%), 11 pronoun references (1.16%), 14 signs/transition words (1.47%), and logical ideas (1.47%). Based on student interview papers, 10 students faced problems. There are 3 votes for each type of grammatical cohesion, 2 for each type of lexical cohesion and 5 for each type of coherence, 2 for grammar, 1 for vocabulary, and 2 for constructing story ideas. Cohesion is a type of problem that students rarely complain about, while coherence is the type of problem most often complained about by students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to help students improve their ability to speak an essay in the descriptive text genre. Descriptive text is a genre that uses spoken language to explain something to the reader. To make it easier for researchers to conduct research, a quasi-experimental approach is used. This method allows the researcher to get closer to the sample. For this study, the researcher chose two classes as samples. The sample in this study consisted of 72 students from SMA Negeri 1 Baktiraja. Quantitative data is an instrument for gathering information. After reviewing the data, researchers found differences between the experimental and control class. The average value of the data presented, calculated by SPSS version 25, shows that the score of the experimental class increased from 44.22 in the pre-test to 78.56 in the post-test as a result of learning the TS-TS, models treatment. The pre-test for the control class was 43.56, and the post-test was 50.56 because the researchers did not treat them. The average value of the control class pretest was 43.56. The t-test calculated from the post-test findings between the experimental and control groups was 53,949. The t-test result is more than 0.05 in this case. From the data presented, it can be concluded that there was an effect of using TS-TS learning model on students’ speaking skill in tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Baktiraja in the academic year 2022/2023.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik elisitasi dalam meningkatkan prestasi berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA HKBP Swasta HKBP Sidorame, Jalan Dorowati Lorong gereja No.35 Medan. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI tahun pelajaran 2022/2023. Ada 2 kelas yang terdiri dari 14 siswa. Sampel terdiri dari 28 siswa yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Sampel dibagi menjadi 2 kelas, kelompok eksperimen yang terdiri dari 14 siswa (XI IPA) diajar dengan menggunakan teknik elisitasi dan kelompok kontrol yang terdiri dari 14 siswa (XI IPS) dengan menggunakan teknik guru. Instrumen pengumpulan data adalah tes berbicara. Setiap kelompok diberikan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa t-test (3,018) lebih tinggi dari t-table (2,056) dan derajat kebebasan (df) adalah 26. Hipotesis akhir menunjukkan bahwa H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Artinya ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari teknik elisitasi dalam meningkatkan prestasi berbicara siswa

Abstract

Abstrak Kosakata adalah dasar untuk belajar bahasa asing. Tanpa kosa kata, siswa tidak akan mampu mengungkapkan dan menyampaikan pendapatnya, serta tidak akan mampu memahami orang lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan penguasaan kosa kata siswa dengan menggunakan aktivitas icebreaker. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas I SMP HKBP Sidorame yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data kuantitatif diambil dari hasil skor kosakata pada pre-test, post-test I dan post-test II, sedangkan data kualitatif diambil dari angket dan hasil observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan pada penguasaan kosa kata siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata pre-test siswa yaitu 40,78 dan nilai rata-rata pada post-test I adalah 64,84. Pada post-test II, skor rata-rata meningkat menjadi 82,34. Selain itu terdapat 2 siswa atau 6,25% dari 32 siswa dinyatakan lulus Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) pada pretes, sedangkan pada postes I terdapat 12 siswa atau 37,5% dari 32 siswa dinyatakan lulus KKM. dan 25 siswa atau 78,12% dari 32 siswa dinyatakan lulus KKM. Selanjutnya, hasil observasi dan angket menunjukkan bahwa siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap penggunaan ice breaker dalam pembelajaran. Ice breaker mampu meningkatkan penguasaan kosa kata siswa. Kata Kunci: Aktivitas Pemecah Kebekuan, Meningkatkan, Penguasaan Kosa Kata Abstract Vocabulary is the basis for learning a foreign language. Without vocabulary, students will not be able to express and convey their opinions, and will not be able to understand other people. This research aimed to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery by using icebreaker activities. This research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The sample in this research were the first graders of SMP HKBP Sidorame which consist of 32 students. This research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. The data was collected by quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data was taken from the results of vocabulary scores in pre-test, post-test I and post-test II, while qualitative data was taken from questionnaire and observation results. The results showed that there was an improvement on the students’ vocabulary mastery. It can be seen from the mean score of the students’ pre-test which was 40,78 and the mean score in post-test I was 64,84. In post-test II, the mean score increased to 82,34. In addition, there were 2 students or 6,25% from 32 students passed the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) in the pre-test, while in post-test I there were 12 students or 37,5% from 32 students passed the KKM and 25 students or 78,12% from 32 students passed the KKM. Furthermore, the results of observation and questionnaire showed that students gave positive responses to the use of ice breaker in learning. Abstract

  Tesis ini berfokus untuk mengetahui bagaimana blended learning di SMA HKBP Sidorame mempengaruhi kemampuan berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan desain penelitian kuantitatif eksperimental. Penulis tertarik dengan variasi hasil tes bicara antara kelas kontrol tanpa blended learning dan kelas eksperimen desain penelitian kuantitatif. Sementara kelompok kontrol tidak menerima instruksi pembelajaran campuran, kelompok eksperimen menerimanya. Penilaian berbicara berfungsi sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Penulis menggunakan sampel sebanyak 10 siswa kelas XI IPA dan IPS SMA HKBP Sidorame, dimana kelas eksperimen terdiri dari 5 siswa IPA sing blended learning dan kelas kontrol terdiri dari 5 siswa IPS. Sebuah tes diberikan untuk mengumpulkan data. Untuk kedua kelas, tes terdiri dari pre-test dan post-test. Rata-rata pretest untuk blended learning adalah 33,6, sedangkan rata-rata untuk pembelajaran tatap muka adalah 46,8. Posttest pembelajaran dan posttest blended learning keduanya memiliki skor rata-rata 80,4. Uji-t digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa t-observed (16,261) lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (2,678) pada taraf signifikansi (a) 0,01 dengan derajat kebebasan (df) 9. Artinya ada pengaruh yang signifikan Blended Learning metode keterampilan berbicara siswa. Jadi, hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (HI) diterima.   Abstract This thesis focuses on determining how blended learning at SMA HKBP Sidorame affects students' speaking abilities. This research was conducted in a experimental quantitative research design. The author is interested in the variations in speech test outcomes between the control class without blended learning and the experimental quantitative research design class. While the control group did not receive any blended learning instruction, the experimental group did. Speaking assessments serve as the data gathering tool. The author used a sample of 10 students from class XI IPA and IPS SMA HKBP Sidorame, where the experimental class consisted of 5 students IPA sing blended learning and the control class consisted of 5 students IPS. A test is administered to gather data. For both classes, the test consists of a pre- and post-test. The pre-test average for blended learning is 33.6, whereas the average for face-to-face learning is 46.8. The post-test in learning and the post-test in blended learning both have an average score of 80.4. A test-t was used to analyze the data. The calculation results show that t-observed (16.261) is higher than t-table (2.678) at a significance level of (a) 0.01 with degrees of freedom (df) 9. This means that there is a significant effect of the Blended Learning method on students' speaking skills. So, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (HI) is accepted.

Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) the types of psychological analysis used in the main characters of the movie Penyalin Cahaya. (2) the most dominant type of psychological analysis of the five types of psychological analysis contained in the movie Penyalin Cahaya. This research is to find out the types of psychological analysis as part of psycholinguistics. Here the focus of the study is psychological analysis. This study used descriptive qualitative as approach and research design is an documentation analysis to describe and explain the characteristics or qualities of a phenomenon or subject. The data source in this research is the script of the movie Penyalin Cahaya by Wregas Bhanuteja. This research is based on Sigmund Freud in all update theories. The data analysis carried out in this research was in the form of classifying of data and describing data one by one in a table. The researcher found that there were five types of psychological analysis used in Penyalin Cahaya movie by Wregas Bhanuteja and of the five types of psychological analysis there are 192 data in the movie Penyalin Cahaya. From the total 192 data, there are 61 sentences of analysis data, 8 frequencies of Psychometric testing with percentage (13,1%), 6 frequencies of Projective tests with percentage (9,8%), 16 frequencies of Behavioral observation with percentage (26,2%), 14 frequencies of Psychoanalytic analysis with percentage (22,9%), and 17 frequencies of Humanistic analysis with percentage (27,8%). So, of five the types psychological analysis in the movie “Penyalin Cahaya” it shows that the movie mostly dominant used the Humanistic analysis with 17 frequency and percentage (27,8%).
