Abstract

The aim of this research are (1) describing language evaluation on students’ article on attitude (2) describing language evaluation on students’ article on engagement (3) describing language evaluation on students’ article on graduation. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative that is done by concordance method analysis and distribution by using a software of Simple Concordance Program (SCP). The data for this research is an article text written by the students of Indonesia department. The result shows that (1) the inclination of using lexis 0f negative attitude that is showed on negative affect, value, and appreciation by the students. (2) the inclination of using lexis of negative graduation by the students through writing the domination of metaphor in the phenomenon happened in society. (3) the system of appraisal in the article written by the students is graduation ^ engagement ^ attitude. This result showed because the writers of an article mostly use the function of language to strengthen and weaken the attitude and engagement related to the text inwriting their article.

Abstract

Abstrak-Tujuan kajian ini menemukan bentuk onomatope pada komik BJP karya Soni M. Sholeh. Pengkajian objek yakni bentuk onomatope, struktur onomatope dan kelas kata onomatope di komik BJP edisi tahun 2014. Dalam metodenya, kajian ini digunakan teknik pustaka, teknik baca-catat. Peneliti mengidentifikasikan dan menemukan bentuk onomatope, struktur dan kelas kata pada komik sebagai sumber data primer dan data sekunder. Hasilnya ditunjukkan dalam wujud onomatope pada komik 81 buah, pada wujud onomatope bunyi binatang terdapat lima (5), pada wujud onomatope bunyi alam terdapat enam (6), pada wujud onomatope bunyi manusia terdapat empat puluh (40) dan wujud onomatope aneka ragam tiruan bunyi terdapat tiga puluh (30).

Abstract

Listening skill have a significant roles in the success of English language learning that involves the learners experiencing variety of feelings whether depression and frustration. Teaching this skill is also one of the most difficult task to do. Otherwise, motivation is one of the important things in mastering English that include listening as one of its skills. ARCS model combine both motivating and method in teaching that can be used to improve students’ proficiency in listening. This model was implemented on the second semester students of Nommensen HKBP University to find out its significance on the students’ listening skill. The quantitative analysis that used on this study showed that this model gave the significant development on the students’ proficiency on listening skill. Thus students gain more significance on the four steps of ARCS model called; attention, relevance, confidence and satisfaction that can help them to enhance their listening proficiency.

Abstract

The best way to provide information as quickly and correctly that it is conveyed to consumers is a good advertising. So the buyers can see the advertisements delivered before buying something that they want. Multimodal analysis is one way how to analyze an object that we shown from a visual of it. Abstract

Perkembangan teknilogi sekarang ini mengahruskan setiap manusia mengikuti perkembangan tersebut, salah satunya dalam membantu kinerja manusia guna mempermudah pekerjaan secara cepat dan tepat. Sayangnya Polsek Galang mengalami kendala dalam pengolahan data seperti Terjadinya redundansi data anggota SatResKrim yang menangani kasus kriminal, sebagai akibat dari pencatatan secara berulang-ulang setiap ada laporan dari masyarakat. Kurang tertatanya penyimpan data anggota masyarakat yang pernah terlibat dalam kasus kriminal tertentu,  Banyaknya penggunaan kertas sebagai media pengarsipan data, Tidak adanya otomatisasi Laporan Polisi dengan Berkas Acara Pemeriksaan (BAP) yang dibuat sesudahnya, sehingga penyidik harus kembali mengkaji dengaan teliti laporan yang ada. Tidak optimalnya metode pencarian data dalam satu berkas. Report-report tidak dibuat secara otomatis oleh perangkat lunak. Sehingga pada saat melakukan laporan periode, seorang penyidik harus membongkar berkas yang sudah disimpan di ruangan penyimpanan barang.. Aplikasi yang dirancang bertujuan untuk memudahkan pihak Polsek dalam proses pengolahan data yaitu membuat form data kepolisian, Form Pelapor, form Pelaku, form Pelaporan polisi yang nantinya akan dibuat dalam proses pencarian data secara cepat, dan juga akan dibuat report dari semua form tersebut. Tentu saja ini membutuhkan keterampilan polsek Galang dalam merancang penggunaan databasenya. Hal inilah yang melatarbelakangi pentingnya melaksanakan Penyuluhan Penggunaan Perangkat Lunak Data Base Management System  Berbasis Linguistik Forensik dalam pengelolaan data kasus perkara Kepolisian Sektor Galang. Yang dapat meningkatkan kinerja polsek Galang lebih cepat, mudah dan akurat.

Abstract

This research is focused on language style analysis used by Agnes Mo and Rich Bryans Interview on Asia Pop and Build Series. This research aims to classify the type of language style and the most dominant types used by Agnes Mo and Rich Bryans Interview on Asia Pop and Build Series. The data source of this research was YouTube AGNEZ MO full length interview on Asia Pop 40 which was aired on September, 29th 2016 and Indonesian Rapper Rich Brian Chats About His Single, "100 Degrees," More which was aired on November, 21st 2019. This research used theories of language styles by Martin Joos. The data was collected from Script of Interviews video by Agnez Mo and Rich Bryan. The researcher applied a qualitative research design to answer the research question. The researcher used documentation as the research instrument. As the result of this research, the researcher found 30 data that contain language style. The researcher did not found frozen style (0) and found 4 types of language style in this research. The styles are formal style style 1 data (3%), consultative style 9 data (30%), casual style 19 data (64%) and intimate style 1 data (3%). The most dominant type of this research was casual style.

Abstract

Pictionary game is a fun and enjoyable guessing word game that can motivate students to learn English. This research deals with improving students’ vocabulary by using the Pictionary game for the second-grade students in SMP N 1 Raya. This research aims to determine whether the Pictionary game can increase students’ vocabulary. This study applied Classroom Action Research (CAR). The sample of the research was the second-grade students of SMP N 1 Raya in academic 2021/2022. The writer used two cycles that occur of two meetings. The finding of this study was that the Pictionary game can improve students’ vocabulary. It can be proved from the calculation of the test in both cycles. In the pre-test, the mean of the students’ score was 62,18. In post-test cycle I, the mean of vocabulary score was 72,84 and the mean score in post-test cycle II was 77,09. Based on the data, it could be concluded that there was a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary by using the Pictionary game. Based on the research, it is suggested that English teachers should use the Pictionary game as a technique in teaching vocabulary.

Abstract

Orai application is an application that can help students in developing speaking in English. The aims of the study to know students’ perception of use Orai application in teaching Englsih speaking at SMPN 1 Simanindo. In this study, the instruments of collecting data are used by observation and interview sheet. The Observation was used to observe English teaching and learning activities in the use of the Orai application. The interview sheet consists of ten questions regarding students' perceptions of using the Orai application. Sources of data in this study were taken from students of eighth-grade. There are fifteen students who have filled out the interview questions given. This study used a qualitative descriptive design. The findings from data analysis, students have positive and negative perceptions in the use of the Orai application as a media in learning English. Orai application is an application that helps students improve pronunciation in speaking English. In using the Orai application, students feel happy and more confident because it makes it easier for students to learn English. Orai application is an application that is able to develop students' speaking for the better.

Abstract

Kampus Mengajar Program aims to help equalize national education. This program is very much needed by schools with the background of Frontier, Remote and Disadvantaged (3T) or schools with C/B accreditation. Kampus Mengajar becomes a ledge for students and lecturers to participate in advancing national education. This program runs for 5 months or one semester. Kampus Mengajar Students Batch 3 performs 3 main tasks at the assignment, namely teaching, assisting with technology adaptation, and assisting school administration. SD Negeri 091355 Urung Panei is one of the target schools for the Kampus Mengajar. This school has a C accreditation and is in dire need of assistance, especially in improving students' literacy and numeracy skills. SD Negeri 091355 Urung Panei also needs additional teaching staff due to the shortage of teachers. Schools also need help to re-invigorate students' learning enthusiasm after 1.5 years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This research is focused on the effect of POSSE (Predict, Organize, Search, Summarize, Evaluate) strategy to the students ability in reading comprehension at grade I in SMA Tamansiswa Tapian Dolok. The problem of the research are: (1) Is there any significant effect of using POSSE strategy on students ability in reading comprehension narrative text? (2) Is there any significant effect without using POSSE strategy on students ability in reading comprehension narrative text? (3) What are the effect of using POSSE strategy on students ability in reading comprehension narrative text? The researcher uses the theory (Elin (2016);Fatma (2013);Gomez (2011);Grellet (1999);Pammun (2017);Patel and Jain (2008), Ashadi (2013);Dorn and Soffos (2005);Marlini (2016);Westwood (2001), Knapp and Watkins (2005). The methodology research is quantitative research. The data of this research was collected at grade I in SMA swasta Tamansiswa Tapian Dolok. The researcher used two classes as the sample, where one class was the experimental group and the other one was the control group. The instrument for collecting data was multiple choice for both groups. The data were analyzed by applying T-Test formula. The T-test is higher than T-table (8,86 1.67) at the level sigificant is 5% (0,05) with degree of freedom (df) 60 (31+312 = 60), it means that there is an affect of using POSSE (Predict, Organize, Search, Summarize, Evaluate) strategy to the students ability in reading comprehension. The conclusion is that the students could increase their ability in comprehending narrative text by using POSSE strategy that without POSSE strategy.
