Abstract

Berdasarkan program kampus mengajar yang dilaksanakan di SD Negeri 52 OKU, Baturaja didapatkan hasil yang menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan-kegiatan di SD ini berjalan sesuai dengan tujuan yang ditetapkan, namun tidak berjalan dengan baik dikarenakan pandemi yang mengharuskan siswa untuk belajar melalui daringm hal ini kurang efisien dan membuat banyak siswa yang kekurangan dalam hal seperti membaca, menulis dan bahkan berhtung, serta untuk bagian teknologi pebantu pembelajaran, disini belum tersedia alat seperti infokus maupun media speaker. Dikarenakan kurangnya bantuan teknologi dari pihak sekolah, sehingga teknologi yang digunakan adalah teknologi seadanya yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa kampus mengajar. Membantu administrasi sekolah berjalan dengan baik namun belum maksimal, dikarenakan bagian administrasi sepenuhnya diurus oleh operator sekolah, sehingga penulis hanya membantu administrasi seadanya. Dari hasil yang didapatkan diharapkan SD Negeri 52 OKU, Baturaja kedepannya dapat lebih baik lagi, baik dalam segi pembelajaran, Administrasi dan mendapatkan sarana prasarana yang memadai sehingga proses pembelajaran di SD Negeri 52 OKU, Baturaja dapat terlaksana dengan lebih baik. Kata Kunci: Kampus Mengajar, Kompetensi Siswa, Meningkatkan Minat Belajar Siswa.

Abstract

Banyak kendala yang harus dihadapi oleh sistem pendidikan di Indonesia. Salah satu kendalanya, adalah rendahnya mutu pendidikan di Indonesia yang membuat tujuan pendidikan belum tercapai secara maksimal. Standarisasi kualitas pendidikan di sekolah yang saya teliti ialah masih kurangnya fasilitas yang mendukung proses pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di sekolah tersebut sehingga membuat siswa tidak termotivasi untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris. Minat motivasi merupakan modal utama ketika proses pembelajaran. Kegiatan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris sangat penting bagi siswa Indonesia karena Bahasa Inggris adalah bahasa Internasional dan bahasa yang paling banyak digunakan di dunia. Terlebih lagi di era globalisasi telah menempatkan bahasa Inggris menjadi bahasa yang seharusnya dikuasai oleh siapapun.  Oleh karena itu, penambahan kosakata seseorang secara umum dianggap bagian penting. Berdasarkan hasil Kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa minat belajar Bahasa Inggris pada anak di SD Muhammadiyah masih belum sepenuhnya ikut andil bagian mengikuti pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris ini. Abstract

Kemampuan berbahasa tentu adanya pelatihan yang membutuhkan proses yang tidak instan. Dimulai dari usia dini, anak-anak mulai dikenali dan dilatih Bahasa Inggris. Oleh sebab itu memperkenalkan Bahasa Inggris kepada anak-anak usia sekolah dasar sangatlah penting karena merupakan salah satu cara agar anak-anak usia sekolah dasar ini mampu menghadapi untuk mengenal dunia global. Menurut beberapa para ahli, pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dirasa penting untuk dimulai sedini mungkin. Mengenal dan belajar Bahasa Inggris dapat dilakukan dengan mulai belajar melafalkan huruf, kosa kata dan membaca serta menggunakan kalimat-kalimat dalam Bahasa Inggris dengan baik dan benar. Kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) bertujuan untuk memberikan pengalaman kerja nyata lapangan dalam bidang membentuk sikap mandiri dan tanggung jawab dalam pelaksanaan pekerjaan di lapangan, kegiatan yang terdiri dari kegiatan keilmuan dan pendidikan, Yang dilaksanakan di SD 19 kota bengkulu ini diharapkan mampu untuk memberikan solusi serta membantu menanggani masalah – masalah nyata yang sifatnya majemuk secara terstruktur. Abstract

This research attempts to evaluate the effectiveness of online learning at English Education Study of Muhammadiyah University Bengkulu for period 2020-2021 using context, input, process, and product (CIPP) evaluation model. This qualitative research design uses descriptive evaluative. The data collection instrument used closed questionnaire, structured interviews, and documentation. The data processing techniques refers to the Guttman’s Scale. The result indicated the average value of the context evaluation aspects (0.89), input (0.80), and process evaluation (0.82) and product evaluation (0.85). Thus, it can be concluded that online learning program is appropriate and effective.

Abstract

This study is aimed to find out English as a Foreign Language (EFL) college students’ speaking constrains in research proposal seminar presentation. The design of the research was a qualitative descriptive. The subjects of this research were 29 students of English Study Program of Muhammadiyah of Bengkulu who presented their proposal on April 2020 – June 2020. The researcher used observation checklist as the instrument of this research. The checklist was designed based on Gan (2012). The questions were divided into five aspects; limited number of vocabulary, hard to apply grammar rules, and not perfect pronunciation and Intonation. The findings revealed that speaking constrains encountered by the students of English Education Study Program of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu in proposal seminar presentation were limited number of vocabulary, hard to apply grammar rules, not perfect pronunciation and intonation. It is suggested that students take a lot of practices and make a good preparation. Structure your talk by the same order that you have structured your research proposal. Moreover, you can also attend English offline academic seminar and watch English seminar on You Tube more frequently.Key Words: EFL college students, speaking constrains, proposal seminar.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out the students’ mood in learning writing in Online Class Pandemic Era at University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. This study applied a quantitative research design. A total of 45 sixth semester students Academic Year 2020/2021  participated in this study. The data were collected by using a questionnaire and a guided interview to get information about the students’ emotions in learning writing Online.  The writers adapted and modified a new category of emotion categorization, called Hourglass of Emotions, based on the emotions wheel proposed by Cambria et al (2018). The Hourglass Model organizes the primary emotions around four affective dimensions (Pleasantness, Attention, Sensitivity, Aptitude). The finding of this research indicated that the students’ mood in learning writing in Online Class Pandemic Era at University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu was positive. The students confirmed that they feel positive pleasantness, attention, sensitivity, and aptitude in learning writing by online. It is suggested that both the lecturers and the students to keep the positive mood in process of teaching and learning writing online.  For further researchers,  this research finding can be used as scientific contribution to  investigate  the students’ mood in learning writing in Online Class Pandemic Era. Keywords: Students’ Mood, Learning Writing, Online Class, Pandemic Era

Abstract

This descriptive qualitative research aimed to find out the factors that cause anxiety in EFL students when presenting proposal seminars. A number of 20 students who had carried out proposal seminars participated as the subject of this research. Video and audio recording were conducted during the interviews to find out the factors of students’ anxiety during the presentation of the proposal seminars. The interviews revealed that, there were several factors that cause students’ anxiety in presenting proposal seminars, such as fear of failure, fear of negative criticism, lack of vocabulary, lack of grammar, poor pronunciation, fear of losing the thread of material, fear of being stopped, negative thinking, fear of making mistake, fear negative evaluation, and feel incompetent or appearing awkward in front of many people. It is suggested that EFL students who intend to conduct proposal seminars consider those factors to minimize anxiety. The finding of this research at the same time can be as a reference to create a better proposal seminar presentation. The last but not least, material mastery, presentation practices, watching some similar videos of seminars presentation, hard effort, and determination are truly essential factors contributing to the success of any proposal seminars presentation. Abstract

This research aimed to find out what are the problems faced by English students in writing a thesis proposal and how do English students solve the problems in writing a thesis proposal. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects of this research were 8th semester students of English Study Program of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu in Academic Year 2022. 25 English students who had written their thesis proposal participated in this study. Researcher used interviews as a data collection technique. The results of this study showed that students experienced 4 general problems in writing thesis proposals. Namely: academic problems, writing problems, communication problems with supervisors and personal problems. The ways for students to solve the problems are by way of guidance with supervisors, browsing on the internet, reading more references, motivating them selves to write, and making a schedule so that writing is still done regularly.what are the problems. The conclusion of this study are English Students at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu faced 4 types of problems in writing thesis proposal. Abstract

The research tries to describe how is the deepest knowledge about taboo, especially for social dimensions on the Internet; of course, it is as knowledge power Analysis for identifying transferable saying English Taboo in the internet and attempts to identify categories of  English taboo words and to know them which the most dominant used by tweeps on their twitter. This research used an analysis of the document method systems. The populations of this research were 48 people. The samples of the research were 12 people. This research used simple random for sampling techniques. This research instrument was cheklist, which consists of five categories of taboo words based on Eschholz...The data were collected and analyzed by observing the time line of the twitter, copied or printed screen status that containt taboo words, classified taboo words based on Eschholz theory and categorized the functions of taboo words based on Lancker (1987). The research results showed that tweeps used 34 taboo words on their twitter in 105 statuses. The frequency of  taboo words on the twitter were 178 times. The taboo words that tweeps used the most dominant on their twitter was “fuck”. In this research, there were five categories of taboo words used by tweeps on their twitter based on Eschholz sex and anatomy was the most dominant categories of taboo words. The tweeps used taboo words to show their anger, frustation, joy, and surprise.

Abstract

The study explores the preferences of students of English Language Education at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu in choosing reading materials. The research uses comprehensive descriptive analysis methods to understand the factors that influence student choices, focusing on interests, motivations, print format, and novel-like genres. The relationship between student reading preferences and reading ability is significant, as reading in line with student interests leads to increased interest and active participation in the learning process. The majority of students prefer printed reading materials for lectures, because they help them focus and understand reading without disturbance. However, some students prefer digital reading because of its ease and portability. The study highlighted the importance of understanding students' preferences in choosing reading materials to support the success of the learning process. The relationship between students' reading preferences and reading ability is important, because reading in line with students' interests ensures their active participation in the process of learning. A student should know the material and type of reading that is preferred, and based on the results of research the lecturer also plays an important role in knowing the preferences of students so that they can be a reference in choosing the reading material and combining on learning so that it fits the interests of students.
