Abstract

Museum Wayang Kekayon Yogyakarta is one of the museums in Indonesia that boasts a wide variety of wayang (shadow puppetry) collections. Founded by Prof. Dr. dr. KPH. Soejono Prawirohadikusumo, Sp. S, Sp.Kj. (K), better known as the late Pak Soejono, this museum serves as a cultural heritage site from the past, emphasizing the importance of preserving and maintaining its collections due to their significant cultural value. Various methods are employed to ensure these collections are preserved while also serving as educational tools for future generations. One such method is the creation of the museum's E-Catalog. The primary goal of the E-Catalog collection is to identify the museum's collections. The creation of the E-Catalog Collection of Museum Wayang Kekayon specifically focuses on the type of leather puppet (wayang kulit purwa) collections. All data is gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation. The process of creating the collection catalog involves several steps, including preparation (related to permissions and artwork reviews), Action Work (taking photos, recording, measuring, and checking each collection), Intellectual Work (writing museum biographies and wayang descriptions), Compilation of materials and information, creation of collection catalog layout designs, and presenting the catalog collection results on the website in flipbook format. The collection catalog contains general information and descriptions of 75 wayang kulit purwa collections. These collections are classified based on wayang characters such as gunungan (mountain-shaped screen), gods, Ramayana characters, and Mahabharata characters. With the creation of this collection catalog, it serves as education for the public regarding archives and wayang, enriching cultural knowledge and appreciation.

Abstract

Art as Social Rite: Transformation and Commodification of Balinese Art After the 2025 FloodsABSTRACTThe major flood that struck Bali in September 2025 revealed the paradox between spirituality and modernity within Balinese culture. This article examines how performing arts function as a social rite mediating the tension between sacredness, tourism economy, and ecological crisis. Using an interpretive qualitative approach and a critical reading grounded in Victor Turner’s theory of liminality and Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of habitus, this study demonstrates that the transformation of art from a spiritual practice into a touristic commodity creates a liminal space where the sacred and the profane intertwine. Rituals and performances, once serving to restore cosmological harmony, now operate more as symbolic reproductions of social and economic balance. Thus, sacredness in Bali emerges not as an ecological transformative force, but as a cultural strategy to reaffirm collective identity and social legitimacy amid the pressures of global tourism capitalism.

Abstract

In commemorating a decade of the Arts Management Study Program ISI Yogyakarta, this research examined the suitability of Arts Management learning outcomes through the actual competencies demanded in the marketplace, particularly to support the alums's careers as arts managers. This study aims to assess whether the learning outcomes formulated by the Arts Management Study Program at the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta are relevant and fulfill the demands in the arts management industry. This study is crucial to evaluate and develop the curriculum foundation for the Arts Management Study Program in ISI Yogyakarta over the past ten years. Moreover, this research will contribute in establishing a reference for similar study programs in Indonesia. The research adopted the CIPP evaluation method, focusing on the input and output aspects. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with five alums and online questionnaire surveys with 54 Arts Management study program alums. Data analysis involved quantitative analysis of the questionnaires and qualitative content analysis of the transcripts from the alum interviews. The results of the data analysis indicate that the learning outcomes of the Arts Management study program and the planning programs to produce alum profiles in three aspects: knowledge, skills, and attitudes, are aligned with the demands in the marketplace. Although most of the learning outcomes of the Arts Management study program are in line with the requirements of the arts management profession, there are some evaluation points for further development, such as knowledge of data analysis, professional ethics, and technical expertise in producing art events. Capaian Pembelajaran Program Studi Manajemen Seni di Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan dalam rangka memperingati satu dekade Program Studi Tata Kelola Seni Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, yaitu mengkaji kesesuaian capaian pembelajaran program studi Tata Kelola Seni dengan realitas kompetensi yang dibutuhkan di dunia kerja.
