Abstract

Abstract: Bener Village is one of the villages that has developed around the city of Yogyakarta. The naming of Bener cannot be separated from the establishment of the Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat kingdom which was led by Hamengku Buwono (HB) 1. Forest clearing to find water sources for the palace needs became the background for the naming of Bener and the names of the surrounding areas. The method used to find the background of the naming is snowballing sampling by seeking information from the elder figures of Bener. Through these interviews, participatory mapping was carried out to track events sequentially. The stories of the speakers are organized into sequential and logical historical stories. Through this process, the use of maps makes it easier for informants to mark several important locations. From this incident, 18 names emerged from the village, hamlet, village, even the district, including Bener itself. The figure who emerged from the incident was the figure of Kyai Bener, who was not widely known by the residents of Bener Village. A short survey shows that few people know about it, the rest people don't know who Kiayi Bener is. Therefore, toponymy can be used as a medium for preserving local culture. Through a name, the story of the origin of an area can be used as a cultural heritage that deserves to be preserved, especially in Bener Village, Tegalrejo District, Yogyakarta City. toponymy can be used as a medium for preserving local culture. Abstract

Garbage is a major problem in urban areas that has not been fully resolved. Along with an increasingly consumptive lifestyle, there will be an increase in the amount of waste. Another thing that drives the increase in the amount of waste in urban areas is changing trend rapidly of clothing, which contributes to the increase in the amount of clothing waste. This condition prompted the Amikom team together with the Bener Faskel, Head of Bener Village, the BERAMAL (Environmentally Friendly) management, the Head of the Citizens Association and the Chair of the Pokja IV PKK to make waste management innovations. The purpose of this activity is to solve the problem of clothing waste to improving the quality of the environment. The result of this community activity is a training activity to convert clothing waste into crochet bags and wallet. The output of this community activity is increasing the skills of the waste bank administrators to turn clothing waste into more useful goods. The conclusion of this activity: (1) Garbage from non-natural fibers is anorganic waste that cannot be collected in the waste bank. There needs to be a recycling activity so that the waste can be more useful, (2) One of the recycling activities from clothing waste management is derivative products such as crochet bags and wallets (3) Mini workshops will run effectively for 2 hours because participants have been provided with materials by video tutorials, and (4) this mini workshop makes the value of clothing waste more useful.

Abstract

Bekasi Regency in West Java Province attracts many migrants from other regions due to the presence of numerous large industrial companies that support the local economy and income. One such company is PT. Suzuki Indomobil Motor Tambun, located in South Tambun District, which operates in the automotive industry. This study aims to identify the factors influencing circular migration and the distribution of the regions of origin of workers engaging in this migration. The methods employed include qualitative descriptive analysis, while spatial analysis is used to assess the distribution of the workers' regions of origin. Primary data were collected to identify migrant characteristics, including age, gender, region of origin, place of residence, and mode of transportation. The results indicate that the motivation to work at PT. Suzuki Indomobil Motor Tambun stems from greater job opportunities compared to the migrants' places of origin, as well as higher wages. The primary reason migrants do not seek employment in their home regions is due to a lack of job opportunities. Furthermore, the origins of circular migrant workers are spread across 12 provinces, with the majority coming from Central Java.

Abstract

Abstract: The Special Region of Yogyakarta is known as a student city, a tourist destination, a place to work, and a place to live. Population growth and rising living standards have driven land demand for housing and economic activities, forcing land conversion. The shift from agricultural to non-agricultural land use has significant impacts, particularly on food supply in the region. This research aims to analyze the effect of agricultural land area on food security in Yogyakarta. The method used includes Supervised Classification analysis to determine the distribution and rate of land conversion, and correlation analysis to assess the cost of food security. The results show that wetland conversion has led to a loss of rice production in Yogyakarta amounting to 13,726 tons per year, or 123,534.73 tons over the past nine years. However, food security in the region remains unaffected despite the conversion of wetland areas. Keywords: Agricultural land conversion, Food availability, Food security, Supervised Classification

Abstract

Recently, waste has become an extraordinary phenomenon that has attracted the attention of all levels of society: authorities, local governments, environmentalists, and regional stakeholders at the village level. Based on DIY Regional Regulation No. 3 of 2013 concerning the Management of Household Waste and Waste Similar to Household Waste and Sleman Regency Regional Regulation No. 6 of 2023 concerning the Implementation of Waste Management, efforts to minimize the amount of waste are made by each waste bank collaborating with TPS3R in Sleman Regency. Based on temporary data from 178 waste banks, there are 97 active waste banks and 32 TPS3R in Sleman Regency. The objectives of this study are (1) To determine the distribution pattern of active waste banks in Sleman Regency and (2) To determine the accessibility of active waste banks to TPS3R locations. This study uses the nearest neighbour analysis method, and the accessibility of active waste bank locations to TPS3R locations is measured using the buffering method—data processing using a Geographic Information System (GIS). The results of this study indicate (1) the distribution pattern of active waste banks in Sleman Regency based on the nearest neighbour ratio value is 0.861485 (<1), indicating a spatial pattern that tends to be clustered or spread in groups; (2) the accessibility of active waste banks to the TPS3R location has not shown an even pattern, from 32 TPS3R only 10 TPS3R have two waste banks, the rest 0 - 8 waste banks. The buffering distance shows that the closer the two locations are, the more effective and efficient waste management will be, with a maximum accessibility distance of 4.1 km.
