Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of government spending in education and health on increasing the Human Development Index (HDI) in East Nusa Tenggara Province. Using panel data from several regencies/cities during the period 2017-2023, this study applies an econometric model to evaluate the contribution of government spending in education and health to the HDI, which includes dimensions of health, education, and standard of living. The results of the analysis show that increasing government spending in the education and health sectors significantly affects the increase in the HDI. This study also identifies the important role of efficient government budget allocation in supporting more equitable human development. These findings indicate that fiscal policies that focus on education and health can be the key to improving the quality of life and human development in NTT Province.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Regional Original Income (PAD), General Allocation Funds (DAU) and Special Allocation Funds (DAK) in improving regional development seen from two indicators, namely economic indicators (Economic Growth) and social indicators (Human Development Index or HDI). The analytical tool used in this study is Panel Data Regression Analysis from 2013 to 2016 at 21 municipal districts in East Nusa Tenggara Province. Viewed from the Economic Growth, the study showed that PAD, DAU and DAK have significant impact on regional development. However, from the social indicators perspective, the Human Development Index is only influenced by PAD and DAK, in which PAD decreases HDI; and DAK increases the HDI.

Abstract

Effective household financial management is a crucial pillar for the economic well-being of every family, particularly in the face of an uncertain economy and the challenges of modern life. Women hold a strategic position in improving household management because they have a greater ability to carry out household activities compared to men. The purpose of this activity is to highlight the role of women in enhancing household financial management, thereby supporting the sustainability of their families. This community service method employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing data collection techniques that include initial surveys or observations, questionnaires, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and documentation in the form of photos, videos, and notes taken during the activity. The findings of this community service indicate that two activities are carried out: interactive lectures on family financial management and training on managing family finances. The results showed that 11 out of 13 participants had an understanding of family financial management education for Kuta village residents. In contrast, two people did not have a clear understanding of the training and lectures provided. These results indicate that not all RT mothers in Kuta village have the same sense of family financial management. Therefore, in the future, socialization and training in family finances are needed, involving more RT mothers in Desa Kuta.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis kinerja keuangan pemerintah Kabupaten Sumba Timur selama periode 2020 hingga 2023. Rasio-rasio yang di analisis meliputi rasio derajat desentralisasi, rasio ketergantungan keuangan daerah, dan rasio efektivitas PAD. Dengan  menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif data sekunder yang diperoleh dari publikasi Badan Pusat Statistik Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur dan Kementerian dan Direktorat Jenderal Perimbangan Keuangan (DJPK)-Kementerian Keuangan, menunjukkan hasil analisis tingkat kemandirian keuangan daerah masih tergolong rendah, dari tingginya ketergantungan terhadap dana transfer dari pemerintah pusat. Meskipun demikian, rasio efektivitas PAD menunjukkan kinerja yang relatif baik dalam mengelola pendapatan dan belanja daerah. Pemerintah Kabupaten Sumba Timur perlu meningkatkan kemandirian fiskal melalui optimalisasi potensi PAD agar keberlanjutan pembangunan daerah dapat lebih terjamin.
