Abstract

Citronella essential oil (Cymbopogon nardus (L.) and basil leaf essential oil (Ocimum basilicum (L.) offer various benefits, including antibacterial properties. This study aims to identify the chemical compounds present in these oils obtained through local distillation at PT Syailendra Bumi Investama in Wonorejo Village, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar, Central Java. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis was conducted at the BRIN (National Innovation Research Agency) in Serpong, South Tangerang, Banten, to characterize citronella essensial oil and basil essential oil. The findings indicate that citronella essential oil meets the criteria of SNI 06-3953-1995, with three compounds showing significant concentrations: Geraniol (26.49%), citronellol (14.53%), and citronellal (10.95%). Similarly, research on basil leaf essential oil conforms to ISO 11043 - 1998 standards, revealing high concentrations of two compounds: Estragole (55.80%) and linalool (22.35%).

Abstract

Essential oils are also commonly known as flying oils which can generally be obtain from roots, plant parts, bark, leaves, stems, seed fruits, and flower by steam distillation. The aim of the research is to determine the chemicals components of essential oils of basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) and citronella (Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle) leaves obtained from farmers and processors in Karanganyar, Central Java. Essential oil composition was analysis use gas chromatographys-mass spectrophotometry (GC-MS) method. The finding explain namely chemical component of basil leaf essential oil show that the main component were Estragole (55.80%) and Linalool (22.35%), while in citronella essential oil show that the main component were Geraniol (26.49%), Citronellol (14.53%) and Citronellal (10.95%).

Abstract

Liquid hand soap is a cleaning product specifically designed to clean hands from dirt, oil, and microorganisms. The study aims to provide evidence of antibacterial efficacy with a combination of basil leaf essential oil and citronella essential oil on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in hand washing liquid soap formulations. The type of research used is experimental. Essential oils were analyzed by GC-MS and then through formulation as hand washing liquid soap with each concentration of 1%, 1.5%, and 2%. The test results were evaluated, and analyzed using Two Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Tukey.The results of this study showed that the GC-MS test on basil leaf essential oil showed 2 main compounds were detected, namely Estragole (55.80%) and Linalool (22.35%), while in citronella essential oil 3 main compounds were detected, namely Geraniol (26.49%), Citronellol (14.53%), and Citronellal (10.95%). And the results of antibacterial activity tests against Escherichia coli bacteria show each inhibition zone FI 9.32 mm, FII 10.72 mm, and FIII 14.45 mm. While against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria showed each inhibition zone FI 8.75 mm, FII 10.42 mm, and FIII 13.57 mm. For stability tests with temperature (2-8oC) and room temperature (20-25oC), the hand washing liquid soap formulation does not show homogeneous changes, organoleptic preparations, has a pH range of 8.87 - 9.04, has a viscosity consistency that has met the standards between 400-4000 cPs, foam height that meets the standards between 13-220 mm and does not cause irritation to the hands. In brief, the formulation is stable in both temperature (2-8oC) and room temperature (20-25oC) with strong inhibition at 2% concentration.

Abstract

Produksi gula dalam negeri di Indonesia belum mampu memenuhi kebutuhan nasional. Pada tahun 2022, permintaan gula mencapai 6 juta ton, sementara produksi hanya 2,2 juta ton, sehingga terjadi kekurangan sebesar 3,8 juta ton. Kesenjangan ini diperkirakan akan meningkat, dengan proyeksi permintaan mencapai 9,81 juta ton pada tahun 2030. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan solusi alternatif untuk meningkatkan produksi glukosa, terutama untuk kebutuhan industri dan energi terbarukan. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi potensi Gracilaria sp., sejenis makroalga merah, sebagai bahan baku produksi glukosa menggunakan pelarut eutektik dalam (deep eutectic solvent/DES). Proses hidrolisis dilakukan dengan variasi konsentrasi DES (20%, 30%, 50%, dan 90%) pada suhu 60°C, 80°C, dan 100°C selama 60 menit. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa suhu optimal untuk produksi glukosa adalah 60°C. Konsentrasi DES paling efektif adalah 20%, yang menghasilkan glukosa sebesar 1,36%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Gracilaria sp. berpotensi menjadi sumber glukosa alternatif melalui metode pengolahan yang ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mendukung pengembangan teknologi berbasis makroalga untuk meningkatkan ketersediaan glukosa nasional dan mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap energi fosil.

Abstract

Produksi gula nasional di Indonesia mengalami defisit yang signifikan, sehingga memerlukan solusi alternatif guna meningkatkan produksi glukosa. Penelitian ini mengkaji potensi makroalga Gracilaria Sp. Dalam menghasilkan glukosa melalui proses hidrolisis setelah perlakuan awal menggunakan larutan Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES). DES disiapkan menggunakan campuran asam oksalat dan etilena glikol dengan variasi konsentrasi 20%, 30%, 50%, dan 90% pada suhu 60°C, 80°C, dan 100°C. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan awal pada suhu 80°C dengan konsentrasi DES 50% paling efektif dalam menurunkan kadar lignin dan meningkatkan ketersediaan glukosa. Pada kondisi ini, kadar glukosa tertinggi tercatat sebesar 2.300 % pada suhu 80°C setelah hidrolisis enzimatis selama 72 jam. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa makroalga Gracilaria Sp. dengan perlakuan DES berpotensi menjadi sumber alternatif glukosa yang ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

AbstrakTandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) adalah limbah dengan kandungan lignuselulosa yang tinggi, hal tersebut menghambat kemampuannya untuk diproduksi menjadi bioethanol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menurunkan kandungan lignin pada TKKS melalui proses pretreatment menggunakan Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES). DES disintesis dari campuran Kolin Klorida, Asam Oksalat, dan Etilen Glikol (CH:OA:EG) sebagai donor dan akseptor ikatan hidrogen. Pretreatment dilakukan selama 180 menit dengan variasi suhu 80, 100, 120, dan 140°C. Analisis lignin menggunakan metode National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), furfural ditentukan dengan spektrofotometri UV-Vis, sedangkan bioetanol menggunakan HPLC. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kondisi optimum dicapai pada suhu 140°C dengan kandungan lignin tersisa 17,79%, glukosa 3,05%, bioetanol 21.896 ppm (2,19%), dan furfural 0,34%. Penurunan lignin ini menunjukkan efektivitas DES dalam memecah struktur lignoselulosa TKKS sehingga meningkatkan ketersediaan gula sederhana untuk produksi bioetanol. Dengan demikian, metode ini berpotensi mendukung pemanfaatan limbah perkebunan sawit menjadi produk bernilai tambah sekaligus mendukung pengembangan energi terbarukan. Abstract

This community service activity focuses on counseling Islamic parenting for parents of students at SDN Pakel Yogyakarta. The program aims to introduce Islamic values as a fundamental method for raising children to become pious individuals, aligning with government recommendations to address the rising cases of juvenile delinquency. Using the Service Learning method, the activity integrates observation, socialization, lectures, and evaluation, fostering active engagement between participants and facilitators. Conducted in the SDN Pakel hall, this initiative involved a structured approach to delivering materials and engaging parents in discussions and practical sessions on Islamic parenting practices inspired by the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The results revealed a significant increase in parents' motivation and enthusiasm to apply Islamic parenting principles. Furthermore, the program successfully provided parents with fresh perspectives and a deeper understanding of the importance of incorporating Islamic values in their parenting approach, many of which were previously unfamiliar to them.

Abstract

Masyarakat zaman sekarang tidaklah lepas dari budaya konsumtif. Banyak sumber daya alam yang bisa diolah atau didaur ulang oleh masyarakat. Pada umumnya lilin hanya berfungsi sebagai pengganti lampu dan secara fisik tidak menarik. Oleh sebab itu perlu adanya inovasi berupa lilin aromaterapi yang berfungsi ganda, yaitu sebagai alat penerangan, media terapi, dan penyegar ruangan. Telah dilakukan kegiatan PKM berupa pelatihan pembuatan lilin aromaterapi sebagai keterampilan masyarakat untuk membangkitkan kewirausahaan masyarakat. Kegiatan dilakukan di RW 019 Perumahan Villa Pamulang - Pondok Benda Pamulang. Kerajinan lilin aromaterapi memiliki prospek ekonomi yang cukup baik dengan berkembangnya peng. Lilin dan minyak atsiri merupakan bahan kimia yang mudah diperoleh di toko kimia dan murah. Pembuatan kerajinan lilin aromaterapi cukup mudah dilakukan tanpa menggunakan peralatan khusus. Meskipun begitu diperlukan pengetahuan tentang Lilin dan penanganannya serta potensi bahaya yang dapat ditimbulkan. Pembuatan lilin aroma terapi perlu diikuti pula pengetahuan pelelehan lilin dan jenis-jenis minyak atsiri yang dapat dijadikan aromaterap. Pelatihan dilakukan dengan penjelasan teori oleh dosen Prodi Teknik Kimia sedangkan praktek langsung dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dengan bimbingan dari dosen. Selain itu juga dilakukan sesi tanya jawab terkait materi PKM. Pelatihan ini mendapatkan antusiasme tinggi dari peserta PKM dan berharap tetap dilakukan sesi rutin PKM dengan tema-tema menarik
