Abstract

This research aims to overcome the challenges in learning science and social science (IPAS) in grade 5 primary schools, especially in the material "Bumiku Sayang, Bumiku Malang" for semester 1, topic B. The main problem identified is the low level of student engagement and understanding of the material taught. To overcome this problem, this research proposes differentiated learning innovations using technology, namely the AI applications Story.com and Wordwall. The aim of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of technological approaches in increasing student engagement, enriching the learning experience and facilitating deeper understanding of the material. The methodology used is a qualitative approach with a case study design involving 28 grade 5 students in a Pesurungan Kidul 1 primary school. Data was collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of student learning outcomes. The research results show that the use of AI Story.com and Wordwall in differentiated learning significantly increased student engagement. Students show greater interest in the material and their learning outcomes improve. This technology allows teachers to tailor learning to individual student needs, which has a positive impact on understanding and retention. The conclusion of this research is that differentiated learning innovations using technology can be an effective solution for improving the quality of science and science learning in primary schools. Recommendations are made for the wider use of this technology in primary curricula to support more interactive and effective learning. Abstract

This research examines the effectiveness of the field trip method in helping 6th grade elementary school students understand the impact of globalization. The research approach is qualitative-descriptive. This research involved 25 students from SD Negeri Kaligangsa 3 Tegal City on field trips to various locations in Tegal city which showed the influence of globalization. Data was collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and analysis of student reflections. The field trip method has proven to be effective in bridging theory and practice, increasing student involvement, and developing critical observation skills. This research provides valuable insight into innovative strategies in social studies learning at the elementary school level and the importance of direct experience in understanding global-local phenomena. The concept of experiential learning that underlies the field trip method is discussed comprehensively by Dewi (2020), who emphasizes the importance of direct experience in students' knowledge construction. Prasetyo (2021) researched the effectiveness of field trips in increasing students' understanding of contemporary social issues, including globalization. In the context of globalization learning at the elementary school level, Suharto (2022) explains the importance of simplifying complex concepts into concrete examples that students can observe in everyday life. This research strengthens the opinion of using the field trip method in learning globalization.

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the educational activities and resources of Wereldmuseum Leiden within the context of formal history education, focusing on how learning is designed before, during, and after school visits. The central question is: what structured learning activities are implemented, and how do they support students’ historical understanding? Using a mixed-methods approach, qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five teachers and two museum educators, complemented by a descriptive survey of 20 participants involved in museum programs. The study analyzes activity types, timing, learning resources, and collaboration patterns between schools and museum staff. Findings indicate that hands-on workshops, artifact observation, and audiovisual materials are the most frequently used activities, mainly conducted during museum visits. Pre- and post-visit activities remain limited, suggesting weak integration with school curricula. Collaboration between teachers and museum educators is generally informal and inconsistent. This study highlights the need for more systematic partnerships between museums and schools to strengthen the pedagogical impact of museum-based history education. It also contributes to the field by adapting the instrument of Escribano-Miralles et al. (2021) to ethnographic museums with colonial collections, revealing specific challenges such as the underuse of pre/post-visit activities and digital resources in these settings.

Abstract

National character is a fundamental foundation for fostering nationalism among Generation Z students who grow up in a highly digitalized and globally connected environment. Continuous exposure to global information may weaken students’ awareness of national identity if not balanced by structured character education. This study aims to describe the forms of nationalism reflected in the attitudes, behaviors, and participation of Generation Z students in Indonesian senior high schools. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted in a public and a private senior high school. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving Grade X students as primary participants, supported by teachers, school leaders, and extracurricular advisors. The data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns and contextual differences. The findings indicate that students’ nationalism is manifested through values of unity, solidarity, responsibility, independence, and willingness to contribute to collective activities. While public schools emphasize formal and periodic programs, private schools apply more contextual and daily-based practices. Overall, both contexts demonstrate the importance of national character education in sustaining students’ nationalism amid global influences. However, this study is limited by its restricted research scope, as data were collected from only two schools, which constrains the broader generalizability of the findings. In addition, the focus on Grade 10 students does not fully capture the dynamics of nationalism across all senior high school grade levels.

Abstract

This study responds to the persistent challenge of low learning discipline in non-formal social studies programs by developing and testing a module. This study aims to (1) analyze the implementation of the teaching module on social interaction that has been used so far, (2) develop a teaching module on social interaction based on the character value of discipline and assess the feasibility of the module, and (3) analyze the effectiveness of the module in improving student discipline. This study uses the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model. The research begins with a needs analysis through observation, interviews, and focus group discussions. The design and development stage produces a module based on the value of Discipline. The validity of the content and practicality are evaluated by two experts. The results show that the module is in the feasible to highly feasible category, requiring only minor technical revisions. The module was implemented for students. Effectiveness was tested through a single-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 students, using a Discipline questionnaire. The average discipline score increased from 25.00 (62.5% of the maximum score) to 30.33 (75.8%), and the difference was statistically significant at p = 0.001 (p < 0.05) with a moderate to large effect size. The study concluded that the module was effective in strengthening student discipline and contributed as a context-based character education resource for Community Learning Centers.
