Abstract

Environmental health is an ecological balance that must exist between humans and the environment to ensure human health. Environmental sanitation of settlements is all efforts to improve and maintain the health of settlements and their environment and their effects on humans. Various environmental health problems in Kelurahan Mata Air in South Padang sub-district, Padang City, especially in RT 2/RW 11, include the disposal of community latrines directly into the river, not having a septic tank, and also many people who throw garbage into the river. This activity aims to increase public knowledge about healthy latrines, homes, and residential environments. The method used was providing counselling which is carried out using a lecture and video approach. The results of the activity obtained an increase in community knowledge by 45% compared to before being given counselling/education as measured by a questionnaire technique using a pre-post activity questionnaire during one day the activity took place. The community was very enthusiastic about listening to the counselling delivered. The interest and willingness of the community to improve the quality of the residential environment and change their habits can worsen their environmental conditions, which was very high, is reflected in the community's commitment to the sustainability of the following environmental improvement program, which will be continued by collaboration between the community service team and community to improve the quality of the residential environment.

Abstract

Introduction Since the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, many activities have been carried out online from home. This change in activity causes the frequency of gadget use to increase. Looking constantly at gadgets such as laptops, desktops, and mobile phones can risk visual problems or visual fatigue. Aims: this research is to describe visual fatigue and the factors that affect students due to the increasing use of gadgets. Methods This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach—collected data from April to June 2021. The sample in this study was 200 people. The variables are visual fatigue, viewing distance, eye breaks, and refractive error. Data were collected using a questionnaire distributed to respondents using google Forms. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate with 95% CI (α = 0.05). Result The analysis showed that 87% of students experienced visual fatigue, 76% used gadgets at an unsafe distance, 92% did not rest their eyes, 39.5% had refractive errors. Statistical test results between visual fatigue with viewing distance (p-value = 0.53), eye breaks (p-value = 0.04) and refractive error (p-value = 0.44). There is a relationship between eye breaks and visual fatigue. Based on the results of this study, take eye breaks by applying 20-20-20, namely resting the eyes every 20 minutes by turning the eyes to see objects as far as 20 feet for 20 seconds when using gadgets to reduce the risk of visual fatigue.

Abstract

Based on data from the Health Office of Pariaman City in 2020, 1049 cases of diarrhoea were found. One of the causes is influenced by poor sanitation conditions and water quality, so it needs to be a concern for all levels of society, especially the younger generation. They have an essential role as a driving force for good sanitation for society, which is helpful for survival in the future. In order to reduce the number of cases of diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases, education was carried out using two methods for SMAN 1 Pariaman students, namely the lecture and quartet cards. Pre and post-tests were carried out to compare the effectiveness of the two methods. The pre and post-test scores had an average increase of 2.2 points; for the lecture method, the average increased by 0.4 points. The results obtained from both methods show an increase in the knowledge. However, compared with the difference in the increase of average value pre and post-test, the quartet card games were more effective in increasing student knowledge. This media quartet can continue to be used in health promotion.

Abstract

Bertambahnya jumlah penduduk serta berkembangnya aktivitas sosial dan ekonomi masyarakat mengakibatkan peningkatan volume sampah yang dihasilkan. Jenis dan karakteristik sampah juga semakin beragam. Dampak yang ditimbulkan oleh sampah diantaranya adalah bau tidak sedap, lalat berterbangan, dan pencemaran lingkungan. Sampah dapat menimbulkan permasalahan apabila tidak seimbangnya antara produksi sampah dengan pengelolaannya. Untuk mengatasi timbunan sampah dapat dilakukan dengan mengolah sampah organik menjadi kompos atau pupuk organik. Kompos adalah pupuk organik yang sangat bermanfaat bagi peningkatan produksi pertanian baik kualitas dan kuantitas, mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan dan meningkatkan kualitas lahan secara berkelanjutan. Kelompok Wanita Tani sama dengan kelompok tani yang membedakan anggotanya perempuan, yang melaksanakan usaha dibidang pertanian seperti pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan untuk menanam sayur, buah, pembibitan, dan juga tanaman obat serta ada juga yang ikut keladang untuk bercocok tanam. Maka diperlukan edukasi bagi kelompok wanita tani untuk dapat mengelola sampah rumah tangganya agar meminimalisir timbulan sampah dan kegiatan pembakaran di lingkungan tempat tinggalnya untuk mengurangi efek lingkungan dan kesehatan dari akibat pembakaran sampah dan menumpuknya sampah di lingkungan tempat tinggal, dan memanfaatkan kompos tersebut dalam aktivitas bercocok tanam. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan penyuluhan dan praktik pembuatan kompos bersama kelompok wanita tani Sinar Pagi, Kecamatan Lubuk Alung, Sumatera Barat. Diharapkan dari kegiatan ini kelompok wanita tani dapat mengolah limbah rumah tangga menjadi kompos secara mandiri dan beralih menggunakan pupuk organik daripada penggunaan pupuk anorganik.

Abstract

In processing gambier farmers work with various postures, namely standing, sitting, and some in a bent position. This study aims to determine the work posture to assess the ergonomic risk level in gambier processing farmers. This study is an observational study using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method. The survey was conducted in March – July 2022 on gambier processing farmers in Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra. Work postures were assessed starting from picking gambier leaves, preparing for boiling, boiling, pressing, settling, draining, and printing gambier. There are 11 work postures that were assessed. Data were collected using observations, documentation, and REBA worksheets. Then the data were analyzed based on the score from the REBA table, and the risk score was calculated. The results of the ergonomic risk assessment at each stage of the gambier processing process are it is known that in the process of picking gambier leaves the final score is 10, in the boiling preparation stage there are 4 different work positions with 2 final scores of 6, and 2 final scores 8, then the boiling stage the score final 9, tying gambier leaves for press preparation with a final score of 9, gambier leaf counting with a score of 9, gambier leaf press process with a final score of 9, gambier sap draining process with a final score of 10 and printing process with a final score of 8. Out of 11 postures at the gambier processing stage, nine poses have high risk with a score of 8 to 10, and two positions are of moderate risk. Efforts need to be made to improve equipment for processing gambier to prevent work-related injuries and reduce the physical workload on gambier processing farmers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bahaya, menganalisis risiko dan merekomendasikan upaya pengendalian pada Puskesmas Tanah Garam Kota Solok.Jenis penelitian adalah teknik semi kualitatif yang diperoleh melalui observasi dan wawancara. Selanjutnya dilakukan analisis secara kuantitatif untuk menentukan tingkat risiko kerja menggunakan tools Hazard Identification Risk Assessment Determining Control (HIRADC). Penelitian ini dilakukan di Puskesmas Tanah Garam Kota Solok pada bulan Oktober 2021 sampai dengan Mei 2022.Hasil identifikasi didapatkan sumber bahaya berasal dari bahaya fisik, biologi, kimia, ergonomis, psikososial listrik dan mekanis. Identifikasi bahaya ditemukan bahaya sebanyak 207 bahaya, setelah dilakukan penilaian risiko pada 14 ruangan maka diperoleh hasil sebanyak 1 risiko tinggi (high risk), 193 risiko sedang (moderate risk) dan 13 risiko rendah (low risk). Pengendalian yang diterapkan adalah penggunaan APD, penyediaan safety box dan masker serta kalibrasi alat. Berdasarkan analisis risiko yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa pada Puskesmas Tanah Garam umumnya beresiko sedang. Disarankan kepada Puskesmas untuk mengadakan pelatihan terkait K3 dan pencegahan penyakit infeksi, pengawasan rutin oleh Dinas Kesehatan terkait K3, melengkapi SOP terkait K3 Puskesmas, serta melengkapi dan perbaikan sarana dan prasarana Puskesmas.

Abstract

Kaktus pir berduri (OFI) merupakan tanaman yang mudah beradaptasi dengan iklim ekstrem dan dapat tumbuh dengan cepat. Kaktus diyakini dapat memberikan banyak manfaat, mulai dari bidang industri, pertanian, kesehatan, farmasi, kosmetik, dan gizi. OFI juga memiliki manfaat membantu mengurangi cemaran dalam air. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kandungan senyawa organic dalam OFI yang dapat membantu mengurangi cemaran dalam pengolahan air. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan membuat ekstrak OFI dalam bentuk serbuk kemudian dilakukan uji FTIR. Tahapan dimulai dengan memarut OFI sehingga didapatkan lender OFI dalam jumlah yang cukup. Selanjutnya lendir OFI ditambahkan kandungan etanol dengan perbandingan 1:1 dengan jumlah lendirnya untuk menghilangkan warna alami dari OFI. Kemudian dilakukan pengeringan lendir dengan bantuan oven selama 3-4 hari. Setelah kering maka lendir OFI di hancurkan menjadi butiran serbuk halus dan dilakukan uji FTIR untuk melihat kandungan apa saja yang ditemukan dalam lendir OFI yang bermanfaat dalam pengolahan air. Analisis hasil uji FITR menunjukan adanya vibrasi gugus fungsi hidroksil dan gugus nitril. Kandungan gugus fungsi hidroksil dan nitril dapat digunakan sebagai koagulan melalui pengikatan dan adsorpsi. Hal ini menunjukan OFI mampu untuk mengurangi cemaran yang terdapat di dalam air seperti endapan, lumpur dan cemaran logam. Selain itu, juga menunjukan kandungan OFI sebagai bio-absorben yang dapat digunakan dalam pemulihan air limbah

Abstract

The availability of clean water is a significant factor in ensuring human survival. When there is insufficient water to supply a population adequately, we say there is a water shortage. The water issue is impacting several metropolitan regions worldwide, including Indonesia. In Padang, 22 sub-districts are included in the list of slum sub-districts, including Pasar Ambacang. The current condition requires more community preparedness to face the water crisis. People must be adequately prepared for water crises or be taught how to use available water supplies efficiently. Increasing knowledge about community preparedness in facing the water crisis is essential because increasing public knowledge will increase community preparedness in facing the water crisis. The effort was carried out by distributing leaflets and giving lectures door to door. This exercise increased the percentage of the community prepared to deal with the water situation before and after receiving instruction. It can lessen the number of potential dangers and casualties during a disaster. If the community is prepared, it will be easier to carry out rescue actions when a disaster occurs.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Di Kota Padang terdapat 22 kelurahan permukiman kumuh, dimana salah satu indikator kumuh yaitu kurangnya penyediaan air minum. Masih terdapat 4,65% air minum tak layak di Kota Padang. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis penyediaan air minum di wilayah kumuh perkotaan Kota Padang.Metode: Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang dilaksanakan bulan Januari - Agustus 2023 di empat lokasi wilayah kumuh Kota Padang. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu wawancara mendalam, telaah dokumen, dan observasi. Informan penelitian berjumlah 14 orang menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data menggunakan metode triangulasi dan bahan referensi.Hasil: Berdasarkan penelitian terdapat kendala dalam penyediaan air minum. Kendalanya belum adanya kebijakan khusus yang mengatur penyediaan air minum di wilayah kumuh, serta tanggung jawab setiap SDM dari setiap instansi belum terfokus kepada penyediaan air minum di wilayah kumuh. Pelaksanaan penyediaan air minum belum berjalan dengan maksimal disebabkan kurangnya pendanaan untuk sambungan rumah ke masyarakat serta sarana dan prasarana yang disediakan belum mencukupi untuk masyarakat di wilayah kumuh perkotaan Kota Padang.Simpulan: Penyediaan air minum di wilayah kumuh belum mencapai target nasional. Disarankan setiap instansi untuk melakukan koordinasi dan melakukan pemberdayaan kepada masyarakat untuk berpartisipasi lebih dalam pelaksanaan penyediaan air minum di wilayah kumuh perkotaan Kota Padang. ABSTRACT Title: Analysis Of Drinking Water Provision In The Urban Slum Area Of Padang City Background: In Padang City, there are 22 slum sub-districts, and one of the indicators of slums is the lack of provision of drinking water. There is still 4.65% of unsuitable drinking water in Padang City. The research aims to analyze the provision of drinking water in the urban slum areas of Padang City. Method: This type of research is qualitative and was carried out in January–August 2023 in four locations in the slum areas of Padang City. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, document review, and observation. There were 14 research informants using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis uses triangulation methods and reference materials.Result: Based on research, there are obstacles to providing drinking water. The problem is that there is no specific policy that regulates the provision of drinking water in slum areas, and the responsibility of every human resource from each agency is not yet focused on providing drinking water in slum areas. The implementation of drinking water provision has not been running optimally due to the lack of funding for house connections to the community, and the facilities and infrastructure provided are not sufficient for the community in the urban slum areas of Padang City.Conclusion: The provision of drinking water in slum areas has not reached the national target. It is recommended that each agency coordinate and empower the community to participate more in the implementation of drinking water supply in the urban slum areas of Padang City.

Abstract

The concept of sustainable development arises because of concerns about the accelerated deterioration of environmental conditions caused by behavior that only aims to meet needs without considering the negative impact on the environment in the future. One of them is the waste management system which is still carried out with the collect-transport-disposal system. To prevent the negative impacts of waste that are increasing all the time, such as the emergence of vectors, odors, and smoke due to combustion, a better way of waste management is needed, namely reducing waste through reduce, reuse, and recycle (3R). Through fostering students' eco-literacy about the importance of the 3Rs, it is hoped that there will be a change in students' mindset from an early age to prevent future environmental crises and a behavioral transition to a sustainable lifestyle, especially those who are accustomed to reducing waste. The purpose of this activity is to increase school commitment and student behavior to get used to the 3Rs in everyday life. This activity was carried out at SDN 08 Koto Gadang, District IV Koto, Agam Regency, in the form of counseling, 3R leaflets, and the provision of separate trash bins between organic, paper, and plastic. Pre-test and post-test activities were carried out to assess changes in students' knowledge about the extension material provided. This activity indicates an increase in students' knowledge about reducing, reuse, and recycle. It is hoped that schools can take advantage of the trash bins provided so that all school residents can dispose of waste according to its type so that the remaining waste is easier to process in subsequent handling.
