Abstract

Abstrak: Perkembangan revolusi industri dan transisi menuju era Society 5.0 menuntut perubahan mendasar dalam pendidikan tinggi. Lulusan tidak hanya perlu kompeten secara teknis, tetapi juga adaptif, inovatif, dan memiliki keterampilan berpikir kritis untuk menghadapi tantangan global. Keterampilan berpikir kritis menjadi kompetensi esensial bagi mahasiswa abad ke-21, penting untuk menganalisis informasi, mengevaluasi argumen, dan mengambil keputusan berbasis bukti. Namun, kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa Indonesia masih rendah, terutama dalam evaluasi argumen dan sintesis gagasan, menunjukkan perlunya strategi pedagogis yang efektif. Critical Journal Review (CJR) adalah salah satu pendekatan yang dapat digunakan untuk mendorong mahasiswa mengkaji jurnal ilmiah secara mendalam. Penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa CJR dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis melalui analisis sistematis literatur. Di Universitas Negeri Medan, meskipun CJR telah diterapkan, mahasiswa masih kesulitan memahami makna mendalam dari telaah kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi penerapan metode CJR dalam mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa terhadap artikel ilmiah. Diharapkan, penelitian ini dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan strategi pembelajaran yang reflektif dan kontekstual, meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran, serta mempersiapkan lulusan yang siap menghadapi tantangan akademik dan profesiona

Abstract

Biology is one of the scientific fields that was born and developed through the steps of observation, problem formulation, making hypotheses based on experiments, drawing conclusions, and discovering concepts and theories. Biology learning will not be separated from laboratory or practical activities. Understanding the concept plays a very pivotal role in learning activities and has become the basis for achieving the learning outcomes. One of the instructional strategies is called PPD (Practice, Presentation and Discussion). This study aimed to determine the effect of the PPD strategies in enhancing students' conceptual understanding. This study applied a pre-experimental research method with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects were twelfth grade high school students. These subjects were randomly selected with the number of 35 students. The results showed that the application of the PPD strategies has proven to be influential in enhancing students’ mastery of photosynthesis concepts. The increase in concept mastery could be viewed from the level change of students' comprehension as the mean score of 43.18, where the students’ initial knowledge (pretest) was 38.12, significantly increasing after the implementation of the PPD strategies (posttest) as of 81.30. Based on the standard of minimal accomplishment criteria, the effectiveness of the PPD strategies on students’ concept mastery was between 71-85 which was stated in the high category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengalaman siswa dalam menggunakan media digital interaktif pada pembelajaran Biologi di SMAI An-Nizam Medan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X, XI, dan XII serta guru Biologi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi terhadap proses pembelajaran menggunakan media digital interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media digital interaktif memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap minat, motivasi, dan pemahaman siswa. Media seperti animasi, simulasi, dan video pembelajaran membantu siswa memahami konsep Biologi yang abstrak menjadi lebih konkret dan menarik. Fitur interaktif juga meningkatkan antusiasme siswa melalui elemen gamifikasi seperti poin dan leaderboard. Selain itu, media digital mendorong kemandirian belajar karena siswa dapat mengakses materi kapan pun dan di mana pun. Namun, penelitian ini juga menemukan beberapa kendala, seperti keterbatasan perangkat, jaringan internet yang tidak stabil, serta perbedaan kemampuan digital antar siswa. Secara keseluruhan, media digital interaktif terbukti efektif dalam menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang aktif, menyenangkan, dan bermakna, meskipun masih diperlukan peningkatan infrastruktur dan pelatihan bagi guru agar penggunaannya lebih optimal.

Abstract

In essence, biology education is built on the basis of scientific products, scientific processes, and scientific attitudes. The implementation of practicum activities requires facilities and infrastructure as well as subject matter related to practicum activities. The method used in the implementation of the research is descriptive research. Descriptive research is research conducted to determine the value of independent variables, either one or more variables without making comparisons or connecting one variable to another. This study is a research that seeks to answer the question. The location of the research was carried out at the Biology Education Laboratory, STKIP Asy-Syafi'iyah International Medan Jl. Farmer's Work. The subjects of this study were students of the biology education study program at STKIP Asy-Syafi'iyah Internasional Medan in fifth semester of the Academic Year 2021/2022. The laboratory owned by the STKIP Asy-Syafi'iyah International Medan biology education study program consists of only one room. All practical activities are carried out in this room. Biological laboratories recorded until 2016 had approximately 35 types of laboratory equipment consisting of a set of glassware, teaching aids, preparations, electronic devices, tools made of wood or plastic as well as digital and conventional tools. The design of the laboratory is still very simple, the space is only filled with 6 work desks, 20 work chairs that are not up to standard in the laboratory, 2 storage cabinets for tools and materials, a sink and cleaning equipment. The laboratory of STKIP Asy-Syafi'iyah International Medan is led by a head of the laboratory.
