Abstract

The relationship of Ponggawa - Petambak in fishfond aquaculture activity was a common phenomenon at many coastal village areas, particularly Babulu Laut Village (East Kalimantan). Although the relationship was considered to exploit petambak, but it had been institutionalized and hadn't been substituted with government formal institution. The aims of this research were (1) to identify interaction network pattern in fishfond aquaculture production and (2) to study the pattern of production relationship of ponggawa - petambak and social function in living of petambak community. Qualitative and quantitative approaches were integrated in this research. The research used survey and case study methods, applying full enumeration survey, observation and in-dept interview.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to measure the productivity and financial viability of the capture fisheries business in the Berau sea, which is managed by the local community of Gurimbang Village. Methods: The research was conducted in the Gurimbang Village, Sambaliung District, Berau Regency, in June-December 2020. Data analysis used financial analysis and descriptive analysis. Result: The results showed that there were fishing with fishing gear and fishing business with fishing gear 2 types of marine fisheries managed by fishermen in this village, namely, fishing nets and nets. The total income of fishing rods per trip ranges from IDR 579,580-1,804,094 with an average of IDR 863,526.34/fisherman. The income productivity of fishing rods is IDR 82,797-128,173 with an average of IDR 103,589/fisherman every day. Net and net fishermen generate income per activity trip in the range of IDR 468,612-708,929 with an average per fisherman of IDR 570,602.24, while the productivity of their income is IDR 117,153-177,232 with an average of IDR 142,651/fisherman every day. Both types of business are financially feasible to be managed as the main livelihood. Capture fisheries business managed by fishing rods produces an NPV value of IDR 102,822,888, an IRR value of 261%, Net B/C value of 9.42, Payback Value of 0.55 years and ROI of 188.44%. Fishery business with fishing gear and nets produces an NPV of IDR 81,605,621, IRR of 154%, Net B/C of 6.41 and an ROI of 128%. Conclusion: Capture fisheries business in Gurimbang village, using fishing rods, nets and nets, is financially feasible using the discounted investment criteria (NPV, IRR, Net B/C, Payback Period).

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi dan sikap terhadap larangan penggunaan alat menangkap nelaya Dogol (Trawl Hela). Penelitian ini dilakukan selama lima bulan mulai bulan Desember 2016 sampai Juni 2017 di Kabupaten Manggar New Sub Balikpapan Timur. Sampel yang diambil berdasarkan metode proportional random sampling Proportionate ditentukan oleh rumus slovin. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa persepsi nelayan terhadap peraturan menteri tentang larangan penggunaan alat tangkap Dogol (Trawl Hela) dan indikator pengetahuan menempati kategori tinggi (skor 424), indikator kesadaran akan kategori tersebut adalah ( skor 327) dan ketertarikan pada indikator kategori rendah (skor 264) dan sikap nelayan mengambil tindakan terhadap peraturan yang melarang penggunaan alat tangkap nelayan Dogol tidak mau beralih ke alat seperti penangkapan lainnya Trammel net Perikanan, Jaring Gill, rawai dan Departemen Kelautan akan menyarankan pengganti alat penangkapan Dogol. Hal ini karena nelayan menganggap alat pengganti alat tangkap ini dianggap sebagai alat tangkapan musiman sehingga membawa hasil jauh lebih bermanfaat untuk menggunakan alat tangkap Dogol.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the role of fishery extension workers in developing tilapia breeding group (Oreochromis niloticus) in The Village of Ulu Regency, West Kutai Regency. Catfish (Pangasius sp) This research was conducted in The Village of Penyinggahan Ulu District, West Kutai Regency. Sampling method used is proportional random sampling method with the number of respondents 35 members of the group of farmers Catfish ( Pangasius sp) Data collection techniques with interviews using questionnaires then in the analysis using interval class formula and likert scale with three categories namely, high, medium, low. Research indicators are the role of extension workers who refer to, the role of extension workers as motivators with an average score of 13.97 is in the high category, educators with an average score of 10.23 are in the high category, catalysts with an average score of 7.00 are in the medium category, organizers with an average score of 8.80 are in the high category, communicators with an average score of 7.71 are in the high category, and advisors with an average score of 8.46 are in the high category. The results obtained from this study are the role of fishery extension workers in developing the Patin Fish breeding group (Pangasius sp) fall into the high category with an average score of 56.17. Abstract

The activity and the role of female fish traders against the Household Income in Gerbang Raja Mangkurawang Market, Tenggarong Sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (supervised by Hj. Elly Purnamasari and Gusti Haqiqiansyah). This study aimed to know the activity of female fish traders in the domestic sector, the public sector (community social activities and productivity), and the average female work time, and to know the contribution of the female fish traders’ income against the household income in Gerbang Raja Mangkurawang Market, Tenggarong Sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. This study was conducted for 6 months from July to December 2020. The sampling method was purposive sampling by taking 24 respondents as the sample. The analysis method was descriptive analysis and business analysis. The result showed that the activities of female fish traders, including managing the household, taking care of children, and a husband, had an average work time of 4.72 hours of the day or 19.65%. In the public sector, the activity was community social activities, including Moslem forum, Posyandu (integrated health service post), Arisan (regular get-togethers), and PKK (Family Welfare Programme), had an average time of 3.7 hours or 12.80%. Besides, in the public sector, the productive activity, such as selling fish, had an average time of 5.2 hours of the day or 22.05%. The total work time for female fish traders in all activities was 13.8 hours of the day or 54.51%. The average income of female fish traders was IDR 5,185,625 of the month, while the average income of their husbands in the non-fishery sector was IDR 6,087,500 of the month. Further, the contribution of female fish traders’ income was 46.1% against household income. Meanwhile, the contribution of the husband’s income against household income was 53.9%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the level of group dynamics of "Damai Makmur" Sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) cultivators in Sidodamai Samarinda Ilir Samarinda. Primary data collection was carried out in June 2019 in Sidodamai Samarinda Ilir Samarinda. The sample was determined using census method, in which all of Sangkuriang Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) cultivator groups totaling 10 people became the respondents. The data was obtained by interview process using a list of questions. It was then analyzed descriptive-quantitatively based on the "Likert Scale", where each answer to the question was given a score, 3 as the highest score and 1 as the lowest score. The results showed that the level of group dynamics of "Damai Makmur" Sangkuriang Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) cultivators was in the high category (dynamic). Besides, for the group structure indicators, group effectiveness and group pressure result in the medium category (quite dynamic), while the hidden intention indicator is in the low category (not dynamic). Overall, the results of the level of group dynamics of the fish cultivators are in the high category with an average score of 116.4 in the range (113-144).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the social profile of fishing communities from the aspects of social systems, client patrons, social relations, social characteristics and cultural characteristics and to know the economic profile of fishing communities from the aspects of acceptance from the main and side jobs. The study was conducted based on descriptive data collection methods to obtain a factual and concrete picture of the profile of the socio-economic community of fishermen in Baras Sub-District, Baras District, Pasangkayu Regency and the data was then processed and analyzed in qualitative and quantitative descriptive ways. The results of the study showed that the fishing community groups in the Baras Village generally lived in the coastal areas near the daily activities. They depend on changing / unpredictable natural conditions. Charasteristics of fishermen in Baras Village is of low education level where the majority of elementary school graduates and part of the tammatan junior high school are predominantly Muslim and have Mandar tribes. Their business experience in the fisheries sector is 10-35 years. The results showed that the acceptance of fishing communities in the Baras Sub-District, Baras District, Pasangkayu Regency was Rp. 291,600,000.00 / KK / Year with an average of Rp. 29,160,000.00 / KK

Abstract

This research was aimed at knowing the extension officer’s activity towards the fish farmer group with floating-net-cages in ex-mining ponds in Lok Bahu Urban Village and knowing the role of the extension officers who were assigned in Lok Bahu Urban Village, Sungai Kunjang District, Samarinda, in encouraging the fish farmer group. This research was conducted for 5 months starting from August 2018 to December 2018. In this case, the research location was in Lok Bahu Urban Village, Sungai Kunjang District, Samarinda. Sampling was done based on a census method that was all fish farmer groups of Rawa Bening 1 and Rawa Bening 2 were the respondents of this research. The research finding showed that the fisheries extension officer’s role in encouraging the fish farmer group with floating-net-cages in ex-mining ponds was classified in a maximum high category. Therefore, the three indicators of fisheries extension officer’s role that should be improved are the extension officer’s role in transmitting the Technology and Science, in business activity and in transmitting information and innovation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the dual livelihood patterns of fishermen families, to know the contribution of each family member of the Nomei fishermen who worked on family income and to know the motivation of fishermen's wives in Juata Laut who were involved in applying multiple livelihood patterns. The sampling method used was purposive sampling totaling 10 families consisting of nuclear families and extended families, each of 5 families in the Juata Laut Village. The results of this study indicate that the picture of the double income pattern applied by nuclear family members and extended families is still very limited. The types of work in the field of fisheries are carried out by men and women, where all men are generally fishermen and women are all processors of dried fish. The percentage of the contribution of husband's income to the nuclear family averaged 36.42% and the percentage contribution of wife's income was 63.58% on average. While the percentage of husband's income contribution to the broad family is an average of 28.39%, the percentage contribution of wife's income is an average of 51.76% and the contribution of other family income averages 19.85%. Motivation of the wives of fishermen who are involved in earning a living is dominant in the household income factor which is felt to be lacking.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was determined the role of fisherman’s wife based on productive activity and contribution to increase family fisherman’s family income, the income different of fisherman’s family which the fisherman’s wife involved or not on productive activity and identified the factor that motivate the wife involve in productive activities. The research was conducted since February until September 2017 in Babulu Laut Village, Babulu Subdistrict, Penajam Paser utara. the Sampling method was stratified random sampling to 30 respondents. The data was applied by analysed by various methods that are descriptives analysis, calculation of average income and multiple linier regression. The result was obtained the role of fishermen's wife on productive activity were fish crackers and salt fish production, seashell collectors, seller of basicneeds of ice, clothes and fried food, village office employee and teacher. The income contribution of fishermen's wife in family income was Rp. 39.211.472 per month (39.2%), that are smaller than husband's income Rp. 60.805.667 per month (60.8%). The income contribution of fisherman’s wife who is warking on productive activities were Rp.6.667.809 per month, bigger than the family income with wife not warking or productive activite, that are Rp. 4.892.983 per month. The factors that are age, education level, numbers of family member, Husband's income and bussiness’s vision not influenced significantly, both parsially or simultaneously.
